Out of box, Very easy install, I charged all batteries before installing the system. Worked just like they said. Good pictures. Very happy with the system.

Please stay away from this soundbar if you want something reliable. When it works, it sounds decent, but it will eventually break on you and cause a lot of frustration. The menu gets laggy, the wifi will stop working, the input will switch to USB out of the blue, and the audio will get out of sync with your video. I will never buy another Sony soundbar again. What has happened to Sony's hardware quality these days? This is a waste of money, do not buy!

The sound is terrific and I especially like the subwoofer because, unlike my old sound system, this subwoofer does not blast my ear drums.

This is a sound bar so you are only getting "simulated" surround sound. Also - Sony makes a point of evening out tones for clarity so you get incredible "mid range" sound but not a lot of highs and lows. Can't control treble - only base. Found that had to play bar at full volume with tv and even then didn't get a "wow" experience watching movies. Ended up returning the product for a true 5.1 surround system. This bar is great if you don't have space for extra speakers and wires but for me it just didn't do the job. Especially not at that cost.

This goes perfect with my tv! You can put the sound at the perfect volume. It's like a mini movie theater.

Going to *try* to keep this short and sweet. If you're looking for a top of the end surround sound solution, this is not for you. If you want something that's going to run you half the price of a very good home theater set up, and still deliver the same environment, this is not for you. IF you are looking for a compact solution, and/or a high quality soundbar, the sound from this is absolutely amazing. It does an excellent job of filling up the room with an immersive sound, with an overall excellent range and sound quality. The upgraded remote is a nice touch, and provides you a good amount of access to the settings on the fly. One complaint, which should be fixed with time, is the lack of settings available for customization, such as setting the default input for the device (which is available on cheaper and older devices). I expect to see these features added somewhere down the line. The wireless subwoofer has a good sound, and is aesthetically pleasing, but seems to have a slight issue staying connected at certain times. As with any soundbar, you will never achieve a true surround environment, but the ST9 comes close. The sound fills up the room nicely without losing any clarity, and even without the use of peripheral speakers found in a true surround sound setup, the unit itself provides a nice touch of depth using the provided 7 speakers and 3 tweeters. Set aside the HDCP 2.2 and ARC compatibility (which are great features, mind you), or the 3 HDMI inputs, a USB input, and more.. The ST9 is truly an amazing piece of equipment the performs stupendously when listening to music, playing video games, or watching a movie. ===TL;DR=== Very high quality soundbar, that produces truly awesome sound and depth to any listening environment. Not a surround sound setup, but achieves good depth and positioning utilizing its array of speakers. 4/5 stars only due to limitation of customization settings and a few rare technical issues, which should be fixed in the near future.

My initial speakers had a better quality than the sound bar so I returned the items

I have an LG oled tv and after trying everything possible, could not get this soundbar to work with my TV.

I purchased the Sony sound bar along with a Sony 65" Z9 4K and a 4K Blueray player. The instructions tell you to to use HDMI cables and connect them all to the Sound Bar. Then use HDMI ARC 3 to connect the Sound Bar to the TV. Well that doesn't work. After calling Sony and Best Buy I gave up and paid a Best Buy Geek to come and make it work. The Geek wired it up where everything connected to the TV and back fed one cable for audio to the Sound Bar, so the Sound Bar Remote is useless. That cost me over $100. The other issue is the TV remote can't adjust the volume or change input to the Blue Ray or anything on the TV Menu unless you stand up because the Sony Sound Bar blocks the remote from the Sony TV. My only option is to raise my TV higher than the Sound Bar. I am retired and a Combat Disabled Vietnam Veteran unable to stand easily. The Best Buy Geek had no suggestion on how I can use the TV Remote other to stand up. I spent over $8,300 for this equipment and it still doesn't work the way it should, so will never buy anything from Best Buy again

I purchased this sound bar even though it was pre open because I was assured it had been tested and the sticker was marked as exceptional condition. After getting it home, I could never get it to work with anything other than my Bluetooth so had to return it.

I really expected more from this the way the salesman raved about it. To be honest I'm very disappointed ive heard the same quality if not better from sound bars a third the price

I paired this Sony sound bar to match the Sony tv but the sound is weak and does not have good separate channels like you would expect for the price. It looks nice but for true surround you need a receiver and separated speakers.
