I have owned several Sony receivers in the past and have always been happy with them. I did not hesitate when I started shopping for 4K receivers, but this Sony has a serious problem. It continuosly dropped HDMI output, I contacted Sony with no resolution. Best Buy was fantastic and allowed me to return/exchange the receiver for a different brand. Hopefully Sony will work on this issue.

This is a great receiver for the money! I caught this receiver on sale at a great price, so I jumped on it. I was looking to upgrade from an old Sony receiver I've had for years that didn't have HDMI or 4K to go with a new Sony 4K TV I recently purchased. This receiver was very easy to setup with the online guide, and the way it will use a sensor to detect the best settings for your speakers. I've been using this for 3 months now, and have no complaints. Honestly, I don't really see a big difference between this new receiver and my old one other than using HDMI thru the receiver now. Since the TV I bought has plenty of HDMI connections and I was using digital optical cable connections for sound, it was fine the way it was with my old receiver. I'm happy with the new receiver though.

This receiver rocks! I was able to set it up with ease, and the on screen menu system that is broadcast to my TV ( also Sony ) was easy to navigate. Solid quality sound through my third-party 5.1 speakers, and surround set up with the microphone ensure that everything was nicely balanced. Where this thing shines is how it integrates with my Sony 4K TV and my PlayStation. If you turn one of them on, the other two will sends the signa where this thing shines is how it integrates with my Sony 4K TV and my PlayStation. If you turn one of them on, the other two will sense it, turn themselves on, set the right inputs, etc. I've never been a Sony fanboy, and started buying their products when I got an incredible deal on the TV. Added the PlayStation soon afterwards, and after that, this receiver, after reading how well integrated with everything else, just made sense.

I got this to replace my pioneer vsx - 521 and to match my sony android TV. The operation is seamless especially if you turn on the hdmi control on. Sound however, did not differ much though it has all the bells and whistles. Bluetooth-- airplay and multi-room capabilities after the firmware update. The bells and whistles I did not tinker with but were awesome additions. The quality itself is good but not any noticeably better than my vsx-521. I ended up returning it.

Our old receiver died on us after only 3 years. So glad we went with Sony as it has more features than our previous receiver. Able to play music from my iTunes playlists wirelessly. Sound it produces is excellent quality. It accommodates are 5 ceiling speakers.

Love Sony products! Receiver was a breeze to setup. Has 5 HDMI ports, so in addition to the 4 on my Sony TV, I have lots of room for adding additional electronics.

This received is a bit bigger than I would like but it's functions are great. It connects all of our devices/equipment so we can hear them through our home theatre speakers. It completes the sound system...and you can connect devices via Bluetooth as well. Amazing.

This is a great entry-level receiver, complete with Bluetooth making it able to be connected to your mobile device, which then can use apps like Spotify to play music. You can also use the Sony app to control the system.

I made a mistake when I reviewed this I thought it was something else this is a great system for the Xbox One I have connected to it and everything else it sounds great and I got it on sale it is truly a Best Buy.

A very nice stereo system, but a little less easy to set up that the "older" ones, which were mostly plug (well, lots of wires, etc.!) and play. Lots more to this one & I've been awfully busy to take all the relaxed time I need to do it. Plus this was open box, with no manual or remote, so wading thru the online manual (LOTS of pages) is a bit of a challenge. The store had recommended a multifunction Sony remote that might work for it. It only did some functions. I was able to find the correct one on Amazon & it seems to be OK.

Receiver was easy to set up and connect subwoofer, and surround sound. Sound is outstanding and it was easy to connect to WIFI.

This took really little time to setup. I am always conscious of how hot these things can get because I live in the desert. This one runs fairly cool and doesn't seem to heat up the room too much.

No DTS:X or Dolby Atmos. 4k output is chroma 4:2:0 while newer cheaper models are capable of 4:4:4. Less inputs than my Sony receiver from 2008 that filled the same product line back in the day. I couldn't justify keeping the unit since it wasn't going to be capable of passing a video signal equal to an direct connection to my TV.

I really like the look of this receiver and it's capabilities.

Here is the deal; the system is very straight forward to setup and, to use. But, 3 months in, the system selects begin going out, one at a time. First, Sat/TV died on the video side; sound still there. I do not play games so, I swapped the HDMI to Game and it worked fine for 3 months. It to died on the visual side; sound still there.... I HAVE TRIED Sony support, for 3 hours wait and, then cut off. Speaker phone thing you know.... Oh, there are no more slots left... Warranty will end at the end of this month and, BESTBUY says to contact Sony...... So, how do you receive Warranty aid/help, resolution....?????

Great features, well known manufacturer, good ratings. Then, after a few months of being very pleased, problems! The bluetooth would cut out after about a minute of a song. So I connected to Pandora to supplement, that too cuts out after about a minute. I thought maybe the problem was internet connection, so I connected a flash drive via USB, that too cuts out after about a minute. Unless I want to listen to FM radio (which I never do), I get about a minute - maybe 1.5 minutes - from my $500 receiver before it stops playing and tries to restart the source. But, for those first few months, it was awesome.

Purchased the receiver after owning a Denon. Mistake! Cannot get receiver to work correctly with blu ray player. We cannot hear the dialogue (main voices) and only hear background sound effects. We cannot find a solution after searching Sony help site. Very Disappointed in Sony!!!
