The setup of this receiver is not very intuitive and the provided instructions are not very helpful. The sound and video quality appear to be top notch. However, the AirPlay will stop working at times and then start working again for no reason. Also, the system will go into sleep mod when I'm using it with a HTPC. Overall, if I hadn't gotten a great deal on this particular unit, I would be returning it right away.

I replaced my Onkyo 7.2 channel receiver with the Sony STRDN860 receiver after the second time the HMDI board failed in two years. I am not an audiophile, but what a difference in sound quality. The highs, lows ,and basses so much better - crisper sounding I wish I done a long time ago. It has greatly improved the pleasure of watch movies.

Bought this receiver to replace a Sony STR-DN840 which died on me towards the end of its warranty. Sony actually provided a refund since they no longer made the part needed to fix it. As a result, I was little hesitant to by another Sony receiver; however, after doing some research online, I decided to go with this unit. So far so good. The onscreen GUI is a lot cleaner than others I've seen and the initial setup is pretty easy. One problem I had with my prior Sony receiver was it going into "protect" mode if I had the volume too loud. Nothing more embarrassing than watching a movie with friends, it gets to a good scene and the receiver goes out. I immediately tested this out as soon as I got it hooked up and it's passed the test (tried it on a few action movies). The power is okay, there are definitely other receivers in this price range with more power; however, I liked the fact that this receiver included HDCP 2.2 as I am hoping to somewhat future proof setup (also have a 4k TV). The number of HDMIs is adequate, although a little shocking that it's decreased to only 5 from 6 on my previous receiver. Overall, I'm still satisfied with my purchase.

Am still trying to learn everything that it does. So far the setup is easy. It runs my Bose speaker system very well. Did the auto setup for the speakers & was amazed how well it balanced all the speakers. I didn't have to change anyone of them manually.

I bought thus receiver for the Bluetooth feature but it took me more than a hour to figure how to configure it. The equalizer was almost useless compared to the Yamaha that I had before. I don't like any of the preset soundscapes. I'm not very happy with this receiver. I can't get my Comcast remote to recognize the receiver.

Being a relative novice when it comes to setting up home systems I have done the best I could with this unit It has so many options and ways to configure it I am seriously thinking of hiring someone to set it up for me I have the TV and the new cd changer hooked up to my old Bose speakers I bought 20 years ago and I can listen to the kind of music I like and to the few radio stations that still play my kind of music here in the Atlanta area. but I need to get the rest of the functions that this beautiful piece of equipment has to offer working and I think I am at my limit as far as the internet and the streaming videos that I have access to now. I would recommend this unit to anyone it works great and i.e. well worth the price.

I liked it for the time I had this receiver. Good sound quality with crisp frequency output in all channels. I tried it with def tech towers and BP speakers, for it this was low power. Receiver did not output enough power to drive this, I kind of knew it when i bought it but wanted to try for the branch name SONY. I liked it.

I had an onkyo system prior to purchasing this receiver and what a difference. I can hear my surround the way it was meant to be. Also it is not as overpowering in loud scenes where I have to keep adjusting the volume as I did with the onkyo

I like to listen music in the whole house, so I got this H.T. reseiver and some speakers, now the entire house is ready to listen music very well even I can fell the movies more realistics because of the system. A good feature I like is that I can control the volume in every speaker I want to... That's awesome.

Bought this on the recommendation of the sales associate to go with the 65" Sony TV. We also bought the Harmony Universal remote and the Geek Squad hooked everything up and programmed the remote and everything works great. The receiver has enough connections for several components and sounds great.
