This unit replaces my defunct Harmon Kardon and updates my Home System. I'm a Sony buyer from way back and very happy with my new Sony. Plus I got it on Sale!!!

Works good. Only thing I don't like is it must be reset when you accidentally hit the "HDMI Output" button on the remote, which is located opposite the "on" button.

Purchased this less than a month ago. At first it was great, then it started glitching. As soon as you turn on the tv it will stay on the right component for 30 seconds then switches to the Netflix option. It randomly turns off, switches from tv to DVD or other components on its own every few minutes. If the TV is on pause for more than a few minutes it shuts off. I feel like it is either really quiet or really loud, there is no middle ground. Disappointed that it has such poor quality for its reputation.

Receiver works great with all the speakers and inputs. Only complaint is the wireless component would not connect to my network, while other devices did so easily.

Almost a great receiver, with one flaw

I researched and bought this receiver because of the rave reviews of sound quality. I agree completely. It did sound superb. I also liked the idea of a streamlined remote. I have a Sony Bravia TV and Sony Blurry player, and I really wanted to get a matching Sony receiver so I could press one button to turn everything on or off. Setup was difficult and ultimately because I could not complete it, I had to return the receiver. I am experienced setting up receivers, but after spending nearly 3 hours trying to get the component video connection to display without success, I decided that was a deal breaker. The on screen interface was nice. The sound field setup with the microphone went fine. I thought it balanced my 5.1 speakers well, and my subwoofer sounded great, blending perfectly with the other speakers. I was disappointed when I realized that the only video upscaling is for HDMI connected components, to 4k. It will not upscale component video signals to HDTV like other receivers to at this price range. I could live with that, but the problem was I could get no image at all from a Playstation 2 connected via component video. Yes, I know it's old, but I still like to play games on it. The on screen interface to set up the input sources was hard to use. The unit came with no user guide, but just a one sheet (front and back) setup instructions. I did go on to support.sony.com and look up their documentation on how to set up AV components other than HDMI. That document was similarly unclear. As far as I could tell, only certain inputs could be used with the component IN. I tried each of them. I eventually found reference elsewhere that this receiver does not switch component video to HDMI out. So I connected the component OUT jack directly to my tv and still got no picture after again trying all the combinations on the input select screen. I don't know if it was user error, bad input or output jacks, or a firmware bug that disabled component video. But after several hours, I didn't care anymore. I had seen another review that said they had worked with Sony support and were never able to get component video to work. I did call Sony's support number. All their agents were busy, I was told, and when asked if I would give my number so they could call me back between 1 to 2 days from now, I declined. Also, after living with the receiver for about a week, I had it turn itself off twice. The first time, I thought I must have hit something since I had the remote in my hand. The second time, I did not have any remote near me and was just watching TV through the cable box. Some time after that, I checked the menus and saw the sleep time was on. I turned it off and never had another problem. Evidently there was some combination of presses on the remote that enabled it. Without a user guide for the remote, I had no idea what I had pressed to turn it on in the first place. AirPlay seemed to work well. I listened to it for about a total of two hours. I also listened to Pandora after downloading Sony's remote app for iOS, which worked well.

First Best Buy Review: And I sincerely hope it helps those out there that was like me. Purchased Sony 4K TV last month and needed/wanted a receiver that was 4K ready. This review is for the Sony DN-1060: The Sony DN-1060 is replacing a Pioneer Elite VSX-21TXH. Yes, this Sony does UPGRADE from the above Pioneer Elite! I was apprehensive at first, dropping to almost half price of what I paid Best Buy a few short years ago for the Pioneer. I thought I'd try a unified approach in branding. ( Glad I did ) The sound of the Sony DN-1060 is absolutely stunning in all areas. The complete wrap-around sound field that it gives films blows the Pioneer out of the water. This isn't a small room although not an overly large one either ( 26'x16"). It has ample power to fill the room with every drop of sound from the extreme highs to the thunderous bass. It is truly an immersive experience. ( Try it watching Avatar ) It is pushing a 7.1 Mirage speaker system with Klipsch bass. The setup was simple but I will say that there is a slight learning curve to get it just right. If you're like me you tweak till it hurts. The documentation is 99% online which is something I am seeing as a trend lately in electronics and find it rather frustrating. ( I will not drop my rating due to that though, as the product stands on its own). Bottom line. I am hearing things from this receiver that were not there with the Pioneer. Clarity Power Ease of Use All Great Still testing and setting for music but so far so good. (I'm more about film ) I hope this helps Larry
