A year of going back and forth with Sony customer service. Very professional people, very well trained, very understandable. Not Engineering department! They are like 'gods', cannot be bothered to lower themselves to the customer level. Despite my multiple invitations (via customer service reps) to have a phone call with me and troubleshoot at OS level. They live up-there in their clouds and issue directives and directions about how to deal with a problem. The original SonyTV I've purchased from BestBuy was replaced in May 2022 (purchase date Nov. 2021). The SonyTV had big issues with Wi-Fi. From not finding the SSID, to eventually connecting to it, then disconnecting and showing "No Internet" despite the fact that it had IP address, subnet mask, gateway, DNS servers. I have configured static IP and DNS, nevermind -- the SonyTV still showed DHCP settings. It was like a continuous fight with the settings. Some days while watching Netflix or YouTube would randomly disconnect from WiFi and turn off (yes you read correctly) the WiFi card. Rebooted, erased it, several times with or without a customer rep on the phone. I had a Roku Stick in the back of the TV connected directly into a HDMI port and that one was reporting excellent WiFi connection. The Sony TV not, could not be bothered. It showed fair or at most good signal. There was no way for me to login into Android OS because, hmmm, "its protected, customer cannot have access to it". I purchased it - 1800USD, its mine, I can do whatever I want with it. Got it SONY?!? It's mine! I can swing a hammer at it, I can take it apart if I want sell it for parts, whatever I want to do with it, it's mine! That was one issue, WiFi. Roku, plugged in the SonyTV worked fine -- its own built in WiFI card inside the SonyTV did not. As I said above, in May2022 got replaced. White glove service. They came in brought in a new in box, not refurbished, same model, and picked up the "old" one which was only 5-6 months old. Same exact issues. Called customer service again. Spent hours with them again on the call. In top of this, sound goes to a Sony AMP 7.2 via HDMI/ARC and TOSLink fiber optic (just in case). The volume is supposed to be sync'ed between the two - you know SonyTV to Sony Amp? Well, no. They fudged that one too. The SonyTV would show volume at 0 and the Sony AMP would be at 30, or TV would be at 20 and the AMP would go all 90 full power blasting at 7am in the morning. Had to pull the Sony AMP remote to turn the volume up or down. Went through the process of setting the SonyTV remote to be recognized by the SonyAMP, the same on SonyTV - discovered the SonyAMP, specified it is an AMP, and use the TV remote to adjust volume, That's it, volume only. I haven't asked to change inputs, adjust tone, nothing else than volume. Before this SonyTV I had a 65" LG 3D TV which was working perfect with Sony AMP. Figures, you know LG did a better job with a non-LG product than Sony did with their own. Oh, and by the way, the Roku remote - you know that thing with 7 buttons, Roku being connected in HDMI port --> in SonyTV -- was controlling the volume correctly on the Sony AMP -- through the Sony TV. Think about that one a minute. Terrible, terrible job Sony. In the end to get the SonyTV on the network in the house I had to run an ethernet cable. Per engineering "recommendation". (!!!!) The image quality is phenomenal, very good contrast, very good 4K image. Its a very good website, that's where I actually went and read their reviews about TVs, and chose this one. They don't mention anything about the WiFi issues or sound via HDMI/ARC. I'm going to notify them as well about these issues I've been struggling with for the past year. Sony Corp eventually decided to come pickup this SonyTV and refund my money. Sony Customer service is phenomenal, very good communications, always responds to emails, phone calls, they leave voice mails. They shipped a new TV, white glove service to my door. They extended the warranty of the replacement TV with another year. I have nothing to say other than kudos to Sony Customer service. Engineering department, not so much. In the end, I would not purchase this TV, this model has issues, big issues - whether they are software, hardware or both. I've been a Sony customer since 1980s, yes the 80s. Had turntables, walkmans, cassette decks, CD players, DVD, BluRay players (which by the way sits underneath the TV in the console and its WiFI and remote work perfect) amplituners, radios, and many many others made by Sony. Why? Because of quality that Sony stands for, for non-compromise top notch features and craftsmanship. Well, not so much. Not sure if it was Covid-19 pandemic's fault for this fiasco, but the quality control dropped to the floor at Sony. So, for the time being until I hear and see otherwise there will be no more Sony products for me. Sony lost this 1(one) customer, and judging by the 100+ reviews only here on BestBuy's website they lost those customers as well. Maybe they care, maybe not.

Outfitting our new home

Had to outfit the media room and outdoor patio. Still working on set-up but you cannot beat the offerings and pricing at Best Buy. Also, had a great young salesman, Sebastian, at the store in Georgetown, TX. Very patient as we worked through the process.
