Was delivered 27 October. Picture quality is not as good and the WiFi module keeps turning itself off and only a complete reset will get it back on. 6 restarts in 2 weeks. Sony is giving me the run around. Can’t say I would recommend this Tv so far….

Sometimes, the faces of the NFL players would blur and spoil the moment especially during touchdowns. I suspect the picture would not blur as much if the TV was smaller. Needless to say, I took it back and got the OLED version. Stay tubed for the review of the OLED version. On a positive note, it’s has an antiglare feature that let’s you watch it in an area with lots of ambient light. Lastly, make sure that if you plan to use a table top, that the last is long enough to support the length of the base.

If you're experiencing a blurry, hazy or a screen that looks dull, follow the troubleshooting steps provided. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button. If the menu screen appears blurry, hazy or looks dull, use the following steps to troubleshoot:
1. Perform a power reset or restart of your TV. Simply unplug the unit and wait 1-2 minutes then plug the device back in and power on.
2. Check if the menu screen still appears blurry, hazy, or dull. If issues still occur, try to adjust the picture settings such as Sharpness, Contrast, etc.
3. If the issue continues, make sure to install the latest TV software. A firmware update improves the functionality and features of your device. It can provide fixes to any performance issues that may occur.

Thank you for the review and we do apologize for the inconvenience. When a video in SD quality is being scaled up and played back, the quality will look poor, even on an HDTV. A video must have HD quality to be played back at high quality on an HDTV. A video with SD quality cannot be converted to HD quality or displayed in SD resolution without stretching. However, by adjusting the Sharpness and Picture Mode of the TV, the quality can be improved. For model-specific information about adjusting the Sharpness or Picture Mode options.
NOTE: When using a set-top box, recording device, or other external device that does not support HD quality, videos are displayed in SD quality. Even when the external device supports HD quality, if the device is connected to the TV by an analog method, videos will not be displayed in HD quality.

This set had slight motion blur with games (VRR is coming though) and a really solid SD and HD picture. If it hadnt been for the grid issues I would have bee perfectly happy with it but glad I had problems because the LG C1 is a better set.

Has grid like pattern on the entire screen that is visible on most scenes and becomes even more noticeable when the picture is panning. Contacted Geek Squad and was informed that there wasn’t anything that could be done about it and I was past my return period. Looked on Sony website and they said that it is a normal condition and not a malfunction of the tv. They give calibration suggestions to try to minimize the DSE, but they did not help. Makes watching tv not really enjoyable. Very disappointed since this was the first time spending this much money on a tv.

Having owned a Samsung q80t, Samsung qn90a, and a LG qned 90 all in 85", I can safely say that. It is definitely better than the q80t. It is exceptional, the only negative thing I have to say below is firmware related and hardly effects the functionality of the TV. The Samsung qn90a has a very similar picture quality, but the Samsung q#t and qn#a models all have a defective board and eARC isssues. If you run a sound system on passthrough, they will drop the sound for about 1-3 seconds every 50 minutes or so. This is unaaceptable for a TV of their cost and effected the 4 different samsungs I ordered between this review and March 2021 and is all over their forums. Almost criminal knowingly carrying over a known defect from 1 year to the other. In actuality, the qn90a might get a bit brighter, but these TVs get so bright that you going are not going to notice the peak brightness difference due to you will be turning both down anyways from their peak brightness to not hurt your eyes while viewing. Both have very high levels of black uniformity and handle shadow details without black crush very well. Color accuracy is incredible and so is contrast. The detail and resolution is exceptional on this TV. It is a big plus over the qn90a having Dolby Vision Support to go along with todays most popular apps. Also, the imax enhanced feature is so nice. Only usable with bravia core, but i run a 9.2 surround sound system and uncompressed DTS:X for streaming is exceptional. I wish all apps supported this. Far better than the HDR10+ limitations with samsung tvs. It is leaps ahead of the QNED 90. I did not take ownership of the LG qned 99, but by design imagine it suffers the same uniformity issues with the dual screens (panel and overlay) that you have to adjust brightness on seperately. That TV had huge uniformity issues, could not handle blacks. The TV was pretty much a blurred mess outside the center subject and every single thing except super bright cartoons with the qned 90 looked like they were filmed in a smoke filled room. Any dark scene was hard to make out. With the QNED 90, the slightest bit of off angled viewing was atrocious, which is suprising for an IPS panel. Not like the sony x95j, a VA panel even, seems to have very little issue with off angle viewing. glare is also not an issue. This TV is meant for big rooms. I think the X95j is the movie viewing TV of choice this year. My only negative comment with it, which I feel will be addressed in firmware updates, is the Bravia Sync function. THis is the HDMI-CEC function on these sony TVS. My receiver is a Denon avr-x4700h. It says bravia sync is not compatible with my receiver. All research I've done says I shouldn't be having this issue. I also use Denon bc sony receivers lack certain aspects I need in a receiver, so wouldn't want to consider one. The CEC function still works and eARC, but bravia sync wont activate. All devices show up under the bravia sync device list too. Also, my roku for some reason is the only external device that will turn off the TV but not the reciver. I have yet to find out why for this and believe it is something to be patched, hopefully soon. This TV is excellent but fresh off the boat.
