We understand that not everyone likes the highlights or content from various apps being displayed throughout the For you tab on the home screen, and we appreciate your feedback. If you selected Set up Google TV at the initial setup, movies and TV recommendations in For you come from your list of streaming services. By selecting Manage Services from the Home menu, you can change or disable your list of services if you do not want to display recommendations based on your viewing history and subscriptions. To do this, press the HOME button on the remote control, then scroll down to the very bottom and select Manage services.

Additionally, you can manage settings for the current Google Account to display Apps only mode on the Home screen. Press the (Quick Settings) button on the remote control, then select [Settings] — [Accounts & Sign In] — [Apps only mode].

The picture quality of the TV will depend on the source that you're playing. You can configure various settings related to the TV display such as color, black level, peak luminance, and brightness for picture quality. Increasing the black level makes the dark area details (patterns) more visible, and decreasing the black level makes the dark areas less visible.

You may also try adjusting the Light sensor and auto luminance level of the TV. The Light sensor will optimize picture quality automatically by sensing the color and luminance of ambient light. It adjusts the screen brightness according to the surrounding brightness. When the TV is in a dark environment, the screen brightness is darker to avoid extreme brightness.
