Better Than Expected
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This television replaced an OLED and I was afraid I'd lose picture quality "downgrading" to LED. I was mostly concerned with black levels and viewing angle. I did my research but online reviews were skewed all over the place. Once I decided to take a chance, I had butterflies in my stomach in anticipation of just how bad it would be. Well let me say any fears I had were totally unfounded. The picture quality of this television rivals the deep blacks and wide viewing angles of my OLED. I haven't had it professionally calibrated and seriously don't see the need. Right out of the box with a few minor adjustments to the cinema picture mode and the picture is fantastic. As far as screen reflection, I've had a plasma and OLED wall mounted in the exact same place. This screen fares about the same, but has enough brightness to easily overcome any stray reflections. HDR content is absolutely stunning with vibrant, rich colors. SDR source material from a cable box is upconverted very well...even on this 75" screen. I'm extremely satisfied with this television.

Best TV so far and Android OS is fast!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The OS is fast and I have not had any issues for the month and 1/2, I have had the TV. The image is bright clear, and handels motion very well! The sound is very good, however, I have it hooked up to a Onkyo TX-RZ3100 (7.1.2 speaker set up) and mostly use the receiver for sound. Netflix is the only app I have found so far that will do Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The Atmos works via a 8K HDMI (Fully Backwards compatible) cable from the TV's eARC out into my receiver and the Atmos sounds phenomenal. I have a Sony 1100es UHD connected to the TV and the image and sound is awesome, Bumblebee will blow your mind, the Transformers look so real!!! The remote is the nicest one I have ever had and works well, It will operate my other systems too. This TV replaced a 13 year old 55" Sony 2k and the new 75" looked massive at first, but I am starting to get use to the size. The only issue I have had, and it only happened once, was that sound would not come through the eARC, so I turned the TV off and back on and that fixed the issue. For those who are interested in my speaker set up... Center- Infinity BETA -360, Fronts- Pioneer Elite SP-EBS73-LR (Up firing Atoms enabled speakers), Surround sides and Backs- Monitor Audio C380-IDC, and a 15" Klipsch Sub.

Better than "professional reviews" claim
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love my new Sony. Of course it has a great picture, but what really surprised me was the audio. I do have a nice audio system with 10 speakers, but I don't always want to fire everything up, sometimes I just turn on the TV... And what a difference this TV has. I am surprised other reviewers have not talked this up more. The remote is really sweet, the OS is great. Motion is great. All content is upscaled and looks awesome. I watch a lot of older shows on Hulu and this puppy upscales everything to where I feel like its all 4k. My only issue is the screen reflections. Its a little bit worse than I thought it would be, but it just means I have to darken the room more when I use the TV, no big deal. And finally, build quality is great and I plan to have this for many years to come. I know there are competing sets that can cost less, but to me, its worth it to pay a little bit more for the Sony name.

Stunning Video Quality
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After numerous purchases of a certain other TV brand, this time we went with Sony. The picture quality of this TV is incredible. I watched a few sources side-by-side with a couple of OLED TV's and I couldn't justify the price jump, considering the relatively small jump in picture quality. Blacks are fantastic and the picture has an almost 3-dimensional depth to it that you don't see on other TV's. A friend was so impressed with the picture, he also just bought a comparable Sony TV. There are two gripes I have with the TV. First, the Android TV OS isn't quite ready for prime time. Initially, there were issues of freezing, apps quitting and the TV rebooting itself from time to time. Add to that, the menu system is a bit clunky - it took a while to figure out how to manually reboot instead of unplugging it and accessing some of the other settings. However, recent firmware updates have performed much better and I no longer experience those issues. I'm glad the OS issues were fixed, and the TV now performs as well as it renders video. No regrets to owning.

Impressive so far....
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV to upgrade.....finally....from my Hitachi 46" projection TV purchased in 1991!! A major improvement in pretty much all aspects. The colors are great out of the box, and even the black levels are quite good for an LCD display, but of course not as good as an OLED. The viewing angle is very good even if you're off center with little degradation in the brightness or color. The sound is pretty good using just the built in speakers and the choices for different sound quality...sports...standard...cinema ...games....does make a noticeable difference. The Hitachi, due to the design with the big console, had better sound due to the ability of having much bigger speakers but it wasn't that much better then the Sony! I think my biggest issue was having to accept the Google terms of service. Without accepting the terms the TV could not be used! I paid for the TV but it was worthless/unusable until I agreed to THEIR terms!! In my opinion, that's not right! I will not be using the "smart tv/Google" features at all, so why do I HAVE to agree to them in order to watch the TV? I'm dropping one star for that reason otherwise it would have been a five star review!! I'll continue to review the TV's performance and see if it keeps me impressed as time goes on......

Excellent 4k HDR Picture Quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I came from an LG 65" C6 (curved 3D) OLED. Was concerned picture quality would be different/suffer. I have no concerns. Turn the lights out, pop the popcorn, select Cinema, turn the brightness down and prepare to lose yourself in the movie. If you like movies like It, Marvel collections, DC, etc., you'll love this TV. The colors are rich and spot on, the blacks are black, the subtleties in contrast aren't lost, the blacks aren't so exaggerated black that they look like molten gloss black plastic. Accurate and precise picture quality and color. Use the brightness setting to adjust to lighting. You'll be impressed. Football fan here too - awesome all the way around - no action blur. Current pricing is half that of the equivalent 77" OLED from LG. BOOMER!

true colors
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read many, many reviews before landing on this TV. As always, there are some downsides that could potentially be dealbreakers... Colors are perfectly realistic. One of the things I ended up basing the purchase decision on was this. Samsung look brilliant in the store, but one must remember that they are looking at a video made for the tv to show off it’s maximum capabilities. In my opinion, the colors on the Samsung, and even high end OLED’s, to an extent, look almost TOO brilliant. (That said, would I buy one for the same price? Of course, I’m not crazy...) You will not find a more realistic color expression than this Sony. The upscaling, HDR, and processor are also top of the top, as Sony invented the Dolby vision tech. I have not plugged my PS4 into it yet, I’ve been working all the time to pay for this dang tv, but I have to think it’s going to be top notch. As someone said, Sony is huge in the film and television industry. Content they aren’t producing directly still utilizes their cameras and tech... it follows that their TV’s would be tuned to produce the best quality with insider knowledge of the technology used to create the content. The backlit screen utilizes local dimming, and to get the best picture with the least amount of “halo” in scenes with heavy white/black contrast, you will have to fiddle with the settings. I think manufacturers recommend 100 hours of break-in time before finely tuning the picture. Also, understanding your source resolution will help you from blaming the TV when it doesn’t look that great. It is designed to upscale 1080p content closer to 4K. Content lower than 1080p just isn’t going to look that great, as there’s only so much the HDR and upscaling will do for a picture whose native resolution is lower than that. (For example, I use Hulu live, and it is set to broadcast a lot of its content in 720p, or to auto adjust to match the stream capability of the network. Many channels are less than spectacular, and even look worse on the tv than they do on, say, a computer screen or phone. This is because you are effectively blowing up an image with poor resolution and seeing all of the imperfections on a bigger scale.) but watch something in 4K and be amazed. Now my quibbles: I am really disappointed that the remote doesn’t light up. This seems like a huge blunder for a high end tv that costs ~3k. As they say, you don’t know what you got till it’s gone, And I went into the purchase knowing full well that the remote doesn’t light up. But it really does suck. I will probably invest in a third party remote in the future. Also, the android tv thing is really meh. The TV Favors certain apps and some functions only work with certain apps that are part of the android/Sony/google(?) family. Voice control will often try to default to opening a request in YouTube. As a side note, we ended up getting fairly invested in google smart home devices as a result of the google assistant being built in to this TV (well played, boys. Well played.) if you do the same, I’d recommend NOT purchasing the GE C-life bulbs, and instead go with Phillips hue from the jump. Nothing says futility like standing next to a light switch you could turn on by hand while arguing with a “smart” device about whether it’s connected or not... thanks for reading the ramblings of a madman, and one last thing... pull the trigger. The TV is rad.

Upgrading from a 65X930D
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the 75X950G as an upgrade to my 65X930D. The blacks are much better, the picture and motion seem to be better as well. The Google assistant is great and it works with Alexa, although I would stick with Google on this TV. The Android App menu is a lot quicker than the 930D, the settings are about the same. If you have new devices you are connecting via HDMI, make sure to turn on the Enhanced part under HDMI under picture setting, otherwise, you will not get full functionality from your device like HDR. I really wish Sony would have this turned on as a default and put a big sign in the instructions for people using older devices to turn it off if need be.

Amazing picture!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I never realized what a huge difference a processor could make; the clarity and depth in pretty much everything I watch is stunning. And 4k....just WOW! This TV was the last big purchase to complete my home theater, now I have a true cinematic experience right in my living room. I highly recommend this TV, two thumbs up from me :)

Beautiful picture with audio problems
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the picture quality on this TV. The colors are very realistic, unlike the oversaturated colors of the Samsung's. It handles motion well, and has good blacks with very little blooming. I really wish I could give this TV 5 stars, but there is a major problem with the audio output via ARC. When using the native apps (Netflix, Prime, etc) the audio for Dolby digital will cut out completely. Sony suggested a reset, which I did, but the problem didn't go away. After research, I have discovered that this is a widespread problem for this model TV, and Sony has yet to fix the problem. Also, there is a noticeable brightness difference between Dolby Vision content playback on the native apps vs external sources with the same picture settings. I'm sending the TV back to exchange it for the same model. We will see if it has the same audio problems. If so, I will have to send it back and wait for something better in the price range..

Great plasma tv replacement!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a truly remarkable tv! I’ve had a 50” Panasonic plasma tv for the past 9 years and I wanted something larger. I thought my only true option would be an OLED because I’m particular about picture quality, and wide viewing angles are important to me. The black levels aren’t quite as good as my plasma, but the difference isn’t significant. Over the air tv and streaming shows over the Internet look amazing! I haven’t noticed any annoying blooming issues that some have complained about, and the picture is crisp, bright, and highly detailed! The only negative thing I’ve experienced is Netflix has failed to launch a few times and required me to restart the tv. If you can get this tv on sale for around $2000 like I did, you shouldn’t hesitate!

Fantastic TV and well worth the price!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I spent about a year debating on the right TV. I was leaning towards Samsung, but after reading reviews and doing research, the Sony came out ahead. Once I had made up my mind, I just needed to wait for it to go on sale. I waited thru Black Friday and a week later, and since the sales price seemed to stay the same, I made my purchase. Around 1 1/2 weeks later, the price dropped another $500 I called Best Buy and they credited me the $500 difference! Excellent service on that one Best Buy. So overall, the TV has a great picture, excellent built in apps and more. I was surprised to see Disney+ on there since that had just come out. I have nothing but praise for this TV. Great picture, easy to use menus, solid remote. Just an overall win! FYI, I was upgrading from a Sharp Aqeous 70" TV that was 4 years old and which was an excellent TV, but I wanted to upgrade to 4k. Definitely the right move!

Outstanding Television
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I shopped for awhile and after a second trip to Best Buy I broke down and went for the 950G. Totally glad I did. The TV is amazing and I have no regrets so far. I have only had it a few weeks, but am more than satisfied. The picture is amazing. I have Direct TV and the picture is sharp with great color. Very easy setup. I did not purchase a sound bar yet and am just using the internal speakers. The sound is good. Worth the money. I did look at the Master Series, but could not justify the small difference in picture quality for the large difference in price. I did purchase the 5 year extended warranty, which was expensive as well, but I felt worth the peace of mind after spending almost 3K for the TV.

Excellent TV
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I must admit, I have been a plasma TV enthusiast for the past 13+ years and avoided taking the plunge on LED/LCD sets. Indeed, we still sport two Pioneer Elite plasmas (including a near mint Signature Series Kuro 141 in our main media room) as well as a Panasonic ZT60. I still find these the king of TVs until this day and have thus been a reluctant adopter of 4K tv's for some of the obvious reasons (e.g., availability of content, lower refresh rate, etc.). This particular model Sony caught my eye some time back as I had been considering larger format screens (i.e., 75 inch+), which plasmas never could accommodate, for our living room and I wasn't yet willing to take the plunge on a $6K OLED for the privilege. Trust me, I have dropped pretty pennies on TVs in the past (see above plasma references), but those days of laying out that kind of coin for electronics are long gone given how fast technology drops in prices these days. I considered other models in the LED/LCD space, including Samsung QLEDs (80R/90R), LG, etc., but kept coming back to the Sony as I preferred it's color management capability and just overall more natural look of the picture. Other sets just are way over saturated for my tastes and look too unnatural as a result with displaying 4K HDR content. I spent a ton of time researching and saw some of the critical feedback on this set, such as blooming, small number of local dimming areas, less than ink black black levels, slightly lower contrast, etc. After some real world experience with this set (and having owned TVs with some of the best black levels ever in the history of TVs), I can state emphatically that those criticisms are WAY overblown. Sure, there are some barely noticeable "facets" to the picture quality, but to state these as deal breakers or even problematic is downright absurd. The picture on this set is absolutely beautiful, whether watching in a bright or dark(er) room! Finally, decided to take the plunge when the price for the 75in screen dropped to $2k...too good of a deal to pass up for a TV of this quality. While I still love plasmas (talk about some of that past criticism being way overblown about the screens eventually giving out...remember that nonsense?!), I am VERY happy with this choice to graduate our TV watching to the 4K/HDR realm. Have to assume the price drop will occur again when Sony comes out with its next upgrade for its top of the line LED/LCD model later this year...when that happens, do yourself a favor and and jump on this one.

Impressve
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Impressive image quality, brightness, color rendering, and dynamic. Blacks are pretty good when watched in a dark Home Theater. The interface is a bit cumbersome and not very stable. Frequently, sound is dropped from Airplay, and sometimes it doe sot turn on at all: it needs to reboot by a restart. This is a bit annoying. Did several firmware updates, with no improvements. I recently bought an LG OLED B( series for our master bedroom. The Sony LED is by far superior to the LG OLED! Much better image, color rendering, extrapolation of anything less than perfect 4K, and brightness. Blacks are obviously a bit deeper on the OLED, but the SONY does an amazing job with the blacks. In my dark home theater, I am not bothered at all by the rendering of the blacks.

A really spectacular large screen TV.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pondered and pondered over this 75 inch Sony, the X950G and the Samsung Series 7 QLED. Pretty much the same price. This TV supplements a 3 year old Sony 75 inch XBR. The sales reps at Best Buy preferred the Sony performance over the Samsung and we could not be happier with the choice. The processor in the 950G is much faster than the older XBR processor. The new Sony easily and compatibly connected to to a new Yamaha RX-A1080 for a rocking sound system. Our next focus goal is to be a happy cable cutter.

Wow! Best TV ever
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The money x950g surpassed my expectations to a top tier tv in every way. The picture quality is amazing. Finally a tv that looks better at home then when displayed in the store. Great in 4k which is how I view most content and in live action like sports. Extremely clear and brilliant at all times. When added with a sony sound bar, there is no need to go to a theater, my home's quality and comfort is far better. This is a must buy!
