The factory color settings are great (no need to modify if that's not your thing). We've watched HDR and SDR in both movies and TV and the picture has been clear and consistent with everything. The black on the TV is so black that when it's just about to cut to a commercial, and the screen goes completely black, I legit think the TV has turned off - the commercial eventually plays and all ends well. Also, I'll say the sound that comes from the TV is the best I've ever had from any TV speaker. I've had the TV for well over a month and haven't hooked up my surround sound yet, and I might not even have to (it's not surround sound quality obviously, but it's loud and carries a little bass).

Unfortunately it’s not a good gaming tv because of horrible abl. The picture dims down when playing Xbox series x. Also experienced getting kicked out of Netflix constantly and some earc problems. Sony makes a beautiful tv unfortunately there way behind with there gaming features with only two hdmi inputs and the lack of vrr. Also called Sony support to get help with the audio issues and the support guy was rude ave very unprofessional with loud people screaming in the back ground. My experience with Best Buy has been excellent and would definitely use them again on my next purchase.

Best out of box picture quality

It was quite a long decision making process for me but it came down to: 1) Out of box color quality, 2) Upscaling of SDR or over the air images, 3) Price and availability, 4) Integration with Sony sound bar systems - I wanted a more simpler and cleaner look to my home theater. Having owned Panasonic and LG OLED TVs in the past the A80J has the most beautiful picture quality (out of the box). With a little adjustments the picture gets much more accurate. If you pair this TV to the Sony HT-A7000 sound bar and SA-SW5 subwoofer it creates a very nice enveloping sound. Turn on the option to use the A80J built-in speakers with the HT-A7000 really help in the overall movie listening experience. Finally, the 77” really changes the movie viewing experience coming from a 55”.

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally bought the LG C1 but immediately noticed I was missing detail in the picture quality even compared to my Sony X900f...returned it and got the A80J and I see all the details i could want and more...excellent colors and the gradient is unstoppable on this TV...different shades of color come through on this TV waaay better than the C1...if you are concerned about the brightness of most OLED'S Sony has put those concerns to rest as this TV is plenty bright...i have a Sony Wega from 2005, a flagship Samsung UNHU8550 from 2014 and a Sony X900f from a few years ago and they all still have a very nice picture but this A80J though...its next level, my God...

Out of the box image is great but had it calibrated by Nelson at Calibrate Everything out of Westchester and it brought the tv to another level. I have a 7.1 system at home but sometime I use the TV speakers and I’m impressed by the sound as well

The image quality is fantastic and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a great quality image. The remote could be better, but once I switch over to my universal I won't use it anymore anyway. My only complaint is the horrible Google TV interface, but that's not the fault of Sony. It's so offensively-invasive that I may just go back to using a Roku instead. Even when setting apps-only mode, almost the entire screen is still a giant ad.

Excellent TV with amazing blacks

I had heard that OLED doesn't very bright, but this TV gets incredibly bright for regular daytime viewing. The only thing I would say to be aware of is the stand despite being very minimal legs, take up a bit of room both in front and behind the tv, so be aware you will need about a foot total for the tv to sit on. I'm not sure what settings the tv comes with out of the box as I bought open box, but I would definitely recommend fiddling around with the right picture settings because the difference can be a significant improvement.

Once again Sony knocks it out of the park with this product. We upgraded from a 49" X900F to this and couldn't be happier. The picture quality is unbelievable! The 4K content is absolutely amazing and I really like that it automatically changes the picture settings depending on which input you are using. Smart functions are easy to use and navigate and I like the google TV platform with the ability to sync to my google account. I'm really glad I decided to spend a little more and go with the 77 in, it was totally worth it. The setup of the base was really easy and only took a few minutes.

We are coming from a LED Samsung to our first oled and we are blown away by the picture quality. We have a very bright room so hdr movies don’t look as bright as regular lcd tv, especially dark scenes. On the other hand, when we watch same movies at night, the bright scenes are so bright it blinds us and even lowering the brightness doesn’t help us! It’s a give and take like any other thing but the picture quality, sharpness and deep blacks are so amazing we honestly don’t care about the drawbacks lol

However, the remote control broke the 3rd week after the purchase. Glad BestBuy was able to help the replacement of their model TV, otherwise, we would have to go through the manufacture to replace the remote.

TV is so stunningly excellent on all aspect from picture quality, high contrast, black level, sound quality and the TV design. The new Google platform is a great improvement from android operating system. This is the perfect time to buy the 75 inch considering the price drop. I play games with my xbox series X and stunned by its performance. I am not that professional gamer but i know how excellent this Tv is also for gaming. The TV sound is great and by far the best sound from a television i ever owner. I however set it up with my SONOS system, Arc, Sub and Ones. Highly recommended...
