We have tried other brands but enormity of screen and tags like 8k does not equal quality. My wife and I thought it would be time to revisit Sony for this TV purchase. Rick and Dustin came by to install our new Sony Bravia XR A80J from the Geek Squad. They did an amazing job! Each day has been a delight for us to sit and enjoy our new viewing experience! The colors are gorgeous and the blacks are varied, deep and intense. Watching sports and movies thus far has been an unparalleled home experience. We coupled the TV with a Sony 3.1 Soundbar with a wireless subwoofer and the audio is phenomenal. Granted the TV, with its audio technology, is great on its own, but this makes watching it so much more immersive. We had the TV and sound bar mounted to the wall and it is now the centerpiece of our family room. Playing our video game system on it is astounding as well! I would recommend this product hands down to anyone who wants a new TV. The other brands do not compare to the AI that is built in to this processor and I can see why Sony has the best TVs on the market! At the price that we paid it was the ultimate deal!

OLED quality and Sony processing

The fact that the OLED can turn off the backlight for every pixel produces some amazing images. I also looked at LG, but went with this to get the Sony processing. I am also using this with a Sony 4K Blu-ray and they are well integrated so it can cut down on the number of remotes needed.

I never really liked 4k LED TVs because of motion processing and they always seemed to look less than natural for movies. This 77" OLED TV is stunning. I am very happy with this purchase. There is no going back now. The colors and clarity are outstanding. I still dont like or use motion processing. Movies that I've seen before are a real treat to see again on this TV in 4K. Wow! I got a 3rd party swivle stand for this tv as well.

Theres definitely a difference between oled and lcd. Its not a night and day difference but you do notice the deep blacks. My friend saw me playing horizon forbidden west and was amazed at how great it looked. Its expensive but worth the buy. Also, i heard oleds arent good in a bright room but i havent had any issues yet. It isnt by any windows though so that may make a difference

Out going model but what the hay?

The 80k is the new model however from what I can tell there isn't much difference between the "J" and "K". For the sale price of 2600, there isn't a better TV. I have mine in the basement with very minimal natural light so it is plenty bright for an OLED panel. Excellent picture, great size, awesome TV. I would recommend if you can get your hands on one of the few left.

Based on the reviews for this product, I purchased it. My experience was entirely consistent with the others. This is an excellent product. I would highly recommend this product. I have never listen to the sound given that I use an external sound system. Thus, I cannot comment on this aspect. Here are a few additional thoughts: pros: I have had the TV for approximately three months now; it has an excellent picture with higher-quality sources even HD; I am coming from a Sony a3000 TV which I purchased in 2008. The difference in picture quality is marked. In retrospect, I should have purchased a new TV several years ago. I think the vast majority of people even those with high expectations will be very happy with this TV. Best Buy did a very good job installing the TV. I did not have it mounted but I may do so in the future. My understanding is that this TV gives you almost everything that the much more expensive A90J model provides. For me, I watch the television mainly in the evening and feel that the brightness is more than adequate. I believe This TV has the latest version of the ATSC standard. cons: no HDR10+ this would’ve been nice to have if this format does gain momentum in the near future; there are some manufacturers of OLED TVs such as Panasonic in Europe who provide both Dolby vision and HDR 10+. I think that Sony and LG and, on the flipside, Samsung are not providing the most customer centric experience. It is possible that Sony’s new technology QD-OLED may be substantially better; however, I believe that this TV will only come in a 65 inch in the coming year. I do not play games. If you do, I believe there are only two HDMI 2.1 ports with all the features. I don’t know much about gaming, but you may want to consider an LG if you are a serious gamer.

Great picture, complicated interface

The Google interface can be overwhelming but slowly figuring it out. Took me forever to figure out how to get TV to turn on with TV channel and not apps. Apparently Sony does not have downloadable manual, just online to view, not sure why? One complaint, although there is option to have sound bar as primary source, it does not show up on screen with volume level (my old TV had this with same sound bar) bummer. On balance, glad I made the purchase.

Depending on the TV settings, the Home screen will be displayed when the TV is turned on. If you change the following setting, you can change the screen that is displayed when the TV is turned on to the TV broadcast channel or external input such as HDMI that you were watching before turning off the TV.
Press the (Quick Settings) button on the remote control - Select System - Select Power & Energy - Select Power on behavior, and then select Last input.
The next time the TV is turned on, the TV broadcast channel or external input such as HDMI that you were watching before turning off the TV will be displayed.
Manuals are also posted on your model support page. Instruction manuals and user guides are available for most Sony products. To download a manual, refer to this link here: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-oled-tvs-android-/xr-77a80j/downloads
After the manual or user guide has been downloaded you can use your printer to print the either the entire document or just selected pages. You may also save it to your smartphone.

Not a fan of the remote that came with it, it is big and a bit awkward to hold. Other then that I have had zero issues with the A80J 77’

EZ set up and sync to existing cable box and auxiliary units. Existing 8-year-old LED TV developed white lines across viewing panel - time to buy a new TV. Best Buy rep directed me to this TV - A bit more than I had hoped to spend, but the splurge was well worth it. Just an incredible viewing experience. IF you can do the upgrade, by all means do so. First SONY - but if I need another TV in the future will look at SONY first.

It is my first 'premium' television set and it far exceeds my expectations. We've had it about a year now, and it's color and clarity never cease to amaze me. The sound from the TV is the best that I've heard from a flat panel, it really does a great job even without an AV receiver/soundbar. I'm looking to purchase a smaller version for my master bedroom.

Your best choice in an ILED TV

This TV changes viewing completely. The picture is bright, amazingly clear and detailed even at a 10 ft. viewing distance. The sound comes right out of the screen with full fidelity and reasonable bass. I was also delighted that this TV allows you to run a sound bar and subwoofer while at the same time allowing the TV speakers to be on supporting the sound bar. I was unable to do this with my previous Sony. I am now able to set up a full room sound which is amazing when watching movies. I also play with a PS5 and gaming has never been better, brilliant, stutter free action and stunning colors. This TV was also very easy to optimize with the PS5 because of its gaming picture mode. I also enjoyed the control this TV allows in calibrating the picture modes. I am extremely delighted with this purchase and after careful product research I have found this TV to be the best and most flexible on the market for all uses.
