We've always been Sony folks, and because we are basically homebound during the pandemic, we chose to upgrade our last Sony TV to the Bravia XR Oled. Trust me, oh my gosh, this is the best TV ever. The clarity is amazing and along with our "Nak..." sound system, we are now in a movie theatre with incredible sound while in our own living room. The TV is perfect right out of the box. We live in a large metropolitan area and we have access to over 115 local TV channels. This TV picked up all these OTA channels perfectly. We love how all these channels are integrated in the LIVE portion of the Home Screen. We love the fact that this is a Google TV. I won't go into technical details here, but trust me, if you want to have a TV that is the absolute best, then go with this one. We justify the price of this TV because we no longer go to the movies and we stream so much. Netflix, YouTube and Prime buttons on the remote are awesome (sorry Disney, we don't subscribe), but there UHD choices on YouTube and they are absolutely amazing. This TV has 4K, not 8K, but you get awesome material from the 8K choices on YouTube as well.

It's been extremely easy to use and get used to, and hasn't had any real issues yet! Only one I had a problem with is their Bravia App, it doesn't seem to want to work with my soundbar. Works for about five minutes then the sound goes away. Everything else has been great!

Thank you for this amazing feedback! We're really glad you are impressed with its super picture quality and you find it very easy to use. Some of these issues can be fixed by simply restarting the TV. To do that, simply press the power button for about 5-10 secs while the TV is on.

Really you kind of have to give it 2 separate score. Those scores would be 5 stars for overall picture quality and 1 star for gaming features. My tv had 2 dead pixels right out of the box which to me is unacceptable for a $3500 tv but I can forgive that because you can exchange it for another. But gaming, first off you don't but a Sony for gaming on Xbox series x, which I do not do. I do however game on PS5 and for that Sony tvs are fine. However, the A80J will dim as you play games and you'll lose almost half your brightness. It's gradual but after you notice you now know. This tv also can have temporary image retention that apparently does not happen near as much on LG tvs although I rarely saw temporary image retention in the 2 days I've had this tv. To be if you're at all gaming, get an LG G1 or Sony A90J for PS5 unless the dimming doesn't bother you. For me this tv is going back and I'm getting the LG G1. I'm sensitive to the dimming so that's a deal breaker to me. For movies and tv I did not see any dimming and for strictly watching tv and movies, this is an absolute fantastic tv. It gets almost as bright as the A90J.

AWESOME TV, THE BEST I EVER OWNED!

Quick delivery and set-up. I exchanged the Sony XR-65A80J OLED for the bigger screen. Best Buy had a great sale price on this tv, and did a price match as well. I am blown away by this tv! And so far the screen and the tv are flawless with no problems or defects. It isn't quite as bright as the 65", with hd or 4k ultra blu-rays for some reason, but it seems to have alittle better color saturation and looks better with my cable box when watching 1080 hd broadcasts. Planet Earth II in 4k is awesome on this tv. 4k and 1080p movies are awesome on this tv. Outstanding clarity and blacks as well. I think I like the glossy screen on the 77" alittle better too. Tons of settings and features on this tv and pretty good sound. Alot more immersive than the 65", in my opinion. I highly recommend this tv and Best Buy as well.

Best OLED even in 2022

Only thing I miss from Samsung tv was the ease of screen mirroring, Android TV's after 2020 no longer have this feature, oh well I'll just use old school and hard wire if need be.

This TV doesn't support Screen mirroring (Miracast) function. However, you can set up the Chromecast built-in (Google Cast) feature or AirPlay as an alternative to the Miracast or Screen mirroring. Chromecast built-in (Google Cast) lets you watch your favorite entertainment and apps from your mobile device or computer on your Google TV. When you cast to the TV, it doesn't disconnect the internet connection or mirror content. This offers an advantage over Screen mirroring and Wi-Fi Direct functions as you can cast content to the TV while you work in other apps or programs on your device.

I have the Sony 65” A9G for a couple years which was considered one of the best TVs. It was a no brainer to go with either LG or Sony when it’s time to update. Their OLEDs were top rated. Light weight was also an important criteria. I looked at Samsung 8k and decided against it after viewing it side by side with the oled and also because of the heavier frame. I went for the LG 83” initially to try something different since I had a series of Sony TVs in the past. I was not impressed by LG. Probably because the 4K resolution is not great on a 83” screen. The remote and menu control was the most frustrating. The TV would disconnect with the soundbar from time to time. I returned the LG and went for the smaller 77” Sony A80J. The 83” A90J was too pricy.

Not as bright as a LED LCD, but if you can control the lighting or are in a situation where light isn't an issue, you'll never notice and be glad you have to color & contrast of OLED. If your familiar with the Android Operating System you'll quickly pickup this navigation system. Upgrade to a backlit remote if you can.

Bigger is better-77" Picture quality is most impressive especially with upscaling. 4K is just awesome! TV sound is good, and any upgrade would certainly improve your overall experience. One concern was brightness/glare daytime TV. No different than the plasma TV, better than expected, and I find the Sony an overall improvement.

Geek squad did install, I think the tv is a slanted leaning to the right but might just need to adjust the wall mount. I mentioned this to geek squad but they didn’t seem to see what I saw.. oh well. If you are on the fence, pull the trigger you won’t be disappointed! I’ve had older Samsung 82inch and a Sony 85 inch, the operating system and quick responsiveness of the screen on this tv is awesome! Only drawback, I wish it had the backlit remote like the A90J I believe it is. Also if you are spending the money and getting geek squad to install have them also hide the wires as apart of install. I didn’t and now I have to do it myself… not hard by any means, but just something that could have been done while tv was installed. You will need 10-15ft HDMI cords. Whether you have multiple devices you are hooking up to the tv or not I would recommend having a few HDMI’s running to the tv even with them not being plugged into anything so they are already hidden behind the wall. I am not rating the sound quality of the tv being that I bought the Sony 7channel sound bar and subwoofer to go with it which are amazing!

The picture is crisp and clear. Currently have it sitting on the feet it came with and they work well, we plan on mounting it once we move. The option to speak into the remote works so much better than expected. Definitely recommend this product, especially if it’s ever on sale again!!

I used to be a LG user, but LG ruined webOS recently by making it a slow ad-ridden mess with the release of webOS 6, so I went with Sony. Google TV is a mixed bag, but better than most things besides dedicated streamers, particularly Apple TV. The ads are less intrusive vs. webOS. Overall it's pretty solid besides losing WiFi more often than it should. It's more responsive than webOS now too. Picky Complaint: The Google TV UI is limited to HD/1080p, so thumbnails and text is blurry in the OS. It's like going from retina to non-retina phone. Meanwhile, Apple TV 4K's whole entire user interface isn't just in 4K, it's literally in Dolby Vision. Legit Complaint: YouTube doesn't allow you to have multiple profiles/logins, so everyone in your household is watching YouTube under the same account. (LOL Google can't make multi-account for their owned & operated subsidiary?). So enjoy your partner or kids getting recommended your videos and vice versa. I mean, in 2022 even HBO and Hulu can do multiple profiles, and they aren't exactly the engineering and product powerhouse that Google is. These little annoyances made me get an Apple TV 4K Gen 2 and now everything is back to awesome. The TV is great, and Apple TV drives it with the best possible ad-free high-resolution experience. All of this being said, if you do NOT want to buy a dedicated streamer, I'd still pick this over webOS 6 any day.

As a workaround, you can log into a different Google account on the YouTube app. You can also use other accounts within Google apps like YouTube, but you won't see recommendation for those accounts on the Google TV home screen.
