Love it, will buy another for the bedroom. Have to see it in person to believe it, there is nothing like OLED, and I even placed it in a room that is very bright with no issues. I read a lot of reviews and saw many UTube videos and came to the conclusion that this is the one. The Comcast cable picture was great , that was my main concern ,and the picture settings out of the box were incredible ! Just couldn’t be happier! This Oled is really amazing!

Sony 77" Bravia XR A80J OLED

Rich blacks and shadow detail. We don't use it for gaming, but for movies and TV content the picture is stunning. Our room is fairly dark and there is ample brightness from the TV. With the 77" size it makes viewing very immersive.

I have been reviewing some of the new OLED displays (mainly Sony and LG). I use my panel strictly for watching movies so I can’t speak to the performance for video games although I’ve read some positive things. The Sony 77” A80J is absolutely stunning! This is the best OLED TV I have ever owned. Of course, technology will change that within a couple of years, but if you are on the fence considering which current OLED to buy, this is the one. The 77" size compared with the price, quality, and features make this a great value for the money.

Exceeded my expectations

Watching movies in a dark room on a 77" OLED is a completely different experience. The colors are rich, the blacks are perfect, and the brightness in HDR content is more than adequate. This TV uses the Google TV operating system, which has been improved significantly over the years. So far, streaming with the built in apps has been very solid. I use eARC over HDMI to my Yamaha receiver for sound. This has been working flawlessly for me. Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase. The picture processing in Sony TVs is really a cut above the competition. It is the main reason that they tend to be priced a bit higher. But in my opinion, it is worth it.

I watch in a dark room and sometimes the highlights are so bright I have to continue to squint. This TV definitely gets bright enough.

A80J is a beautiful TV with a couple of drawbacks

Still though I have a couple of nit picks that force me to not give 5 stars. Firstly, there are times when the picture is just too dark. The beginning of Sicario Day of the Soldado is a perfect example. Many of these scenes are just too dark. I have the calibration settings from ratings.com and cannot make theses scenes a bit brighter. Could be I am missing something but I don't think so. Secondly I cannot understand why on Earth Sony would choose to locate the most important connections on the BACK of the TV and not the side! This makes getting the HDMI 2.1 and eARC connections ridiculously difficult. To the point where I had to borrow a small toy mirror from my daughter to have the slightest chance of getting these connections made with the TV wall mounted. I think that a large percentage of people that buy a 77" OLED are wall mounting them and Sony should put the most important connections on the side. Having them on the back is a cause for needless frustration. The picture is beautiful and it is a beautiful TV but next time I will pay better Attention to where the connections are located.

Recommend the 80 series vs the 90 series which is much too expensive given it is only incrementally brighter some of the time

Often you set a new TV up in your home and the picture seems less impressive than it was in the showroom. This Sony XR A80J is even more impressive at home. The picture is amazing from every source….. Netflix, DirecTV and 4K UHD blue ray discs played on my Xbox 1S are all excellent quality. The Geeks did a great job mounting it on the wall in my family room and helped me get all the settings just right to get the most out of the TV and my surround system. They synced up the settings on my Xbox and my Marantz 7013 Surround Receiver. I can’t stop watching this TV. I am very particular and a stickler for quality and detail. This Sony is worth every penny. My wife and I love going to the movie theater, but now we may watch more movies at home. The experience is fantastic!

My Samsung is still great but the blacks and the 4K clarity are so amazing. Don’t fall into the hype that this tv Isn't the best in a bright room because when I have my curtains open blasting Sun. It still punches like a Titan. It's even too bright sometimes lol. I waited long enough to say this little lol. And video games look amazing as well. I just don't like how my youtube tv basketball sports filter in tv and it's not my TV or internet speed. I have a 1gig. Hopefully this review help with other buyers' decisions, my choice was between A90J 65” or the 77” A80J I went with size and better price point and I'm glad I did.

It was super easy to set up and use. everything we watch on it looks amazing. Got the 77” and boy does it deliver an experience. Wish it got a little brighter but it’s not a deal breaker—most of our tv watching is done at night. The build is solid/sturdy and I was able to mount it on my wall with the help of my wife haha. it’s definitely a quality tv and I would recommend it for movie watchers! Couldn’t be happier with the purchase. Now I just need to figure out a good way to get rid of all the styrofoam n big cardboard box :L

Sony 77" BRAVIA OLED 4K - NICE!

The picture is beautiful in colors and clarity. I bought a Sony sound bar to go with it but didn't think about the TV will set on a console, not hanging on the wall. The TV only sets up about 1" from the table top, so no sound bar. Kind of wish there was a way to fasten the sound bar on the top of the TV, oh well, will use the sound bar on the 46" that I am moving to my office setup in a spare bed room. Boze speakers is in my future, pedestal speakers. Actually the TV sports a good sound in of itself. The folks that setup the TV for me stated that I need to upgrade my cable box to get the best of 4K, had same box since 2007. Was going to upgrade my cable package to all inclusive, so now I have even one more reason to do so. I highly recommend this 77" BRAVIA OLED 4K, like having my own theater in my living room.
