The sound is good and the picture is sharp. It is not as bright and sharp as my Sharp Aquos but it has very good color and motion does not smear. The larger the screen the more difficult it is to present a sharp picture. This large screen has a good picture for its size. I am watching this with direct tv. Not the best source (I don’t have any 4K channels) so I can’t really speak to the picture if it had a 4K input. The internet comes in very bright and sharp. It demonstrates that this flat screen is capable of providing an amazing picture if you have the proper source.

77” Sony A80J TV

They were the same price and I am not a gamer, will be viewing mainly Dish TV, Netflix etc and the occasional 4k DVD. Most of the reviews recommended the Sony over the LGC1 for its up scaling and fine picture. So far I love the bigger size and picture. The Google system is easy to navigate and change settings. My former TV was a LG 9500 Oled 65” relegated to another room. Geek Squad did a good job in mounting it on my wall and connection the DVD and Dish receiver.

However, I have a 7.3 surround sound to solve that issue. The Sony remote is ok but I bought a Logitech Harmony Elite remote to control all of my components. So happy I finally bought an OLED tv without compromising quality due to price. If you can afford the Sony A9OJ 83” OLED, good for you! However, if you’re on a budget like most of us, this tv is as close as you can get to the A9OJ without breaking the bank.

77" A80J for my home theater

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decided on the 77 inch A80J instead of the the larger 83 inch A90J simply because of price. $3500 vs. $8000. Really wish Sony would have made this version is 83 inches. With that said, out of the box the picture was just pretty good. There are plenty of videos on youtube to help you adjust the settings pretty close to calibration version. I couldn't find anyone to truly calibrate it. I was told that Best Buy doesn't calibrate TV's anymore. Anyway, after educating myself about the picture adjustments, it now looks amazing. Having Dolby Vision really makes this TV special. The only downside that I have found is that, even though this version is brighter, it still is not as bright as LED. Takes a while to adjust to it, but the picture quality is just stunning vs. LED.

It's not as bright as regular LED TVs but I think it's enough. It can work with Samsung Q950A soundbar if you want to put the soundbar on top of TV's stands. The soundbar won't block the screen or the sensor. Bestbuy's TV setup is too expensive though, which prevented me from purchasing its service. It's very simple to do it yourself unless you want to mount to the wall. However, the TV panel is not 90 degree upright when put on TV stand, but very slightly (barely visible) leaning forward. Don't know why. Also, the price match period is too short.

If the TV appears to be tilted forward when mounted to the stand, the mounting screws securing the TV to the stand may need to be tightened. Check the screws to ensure they are snug and that the TV is securely mounted to the stand.

I could add pictures to the review but they would not do justice to this TV. The images are just amazing in the 4K content although it does a excellent job of upscaling lower resolution content. Got it wall mounted using a Sanus wall mount and could not be happier with the product. I enjoy watching the available sporting events that are broadcasting in 4K. Satisfied with what is and eager for more!

Better than the a90j

Hiwever, it wasnt really big enough for my space, so i picked up the 77" a80j when ot became available. Im not sure if its panel lottery or what, but my a80j straight up looks better than my a90j and im not the only one to say so. I had a friend come over and before i couod even say anything, he was pointing out hiw the a80 looked better than the a90. So it goes without saying that I am 100% satisfied with this purchase. The 1000 dollar drop was icing on the cake. I dont think theres a better tv on the market all things considered.

Finally satisfied

Sony finally added VRR support for HDMI ports 3 and 4 which makes it much more competitive with LG for gaming. The size is perfect for giving an immersive viewing experience, and the Android OS is still my preferred interface vs LG's clunky and ever changing webOS. Plenty of picture options and stunning picture quality. If you're debating if OLED is worth it, I'd definitely recommend taking advantage of the cost at this time.
