I purchased a sound system with it and had the geek squad install it. I’m not satisfied with the sound snd don’t know if it’s how they set it up. Unfortunately, I was not present for the install so have no recourse. So don’t if it’s the TV, surround sound system or the installer. Too bad!

Many comparisons are available on the web so I will not go indepth why I made the switch. But you can't go wrong with either choice, unless you're a PC gamer then I will recommend the LG C1. But for next gen consoles, movies, and SDR/HDR contents whichever you select will serve you well.

Wanted to love this TV, but...

I wanted a larger TV for our family room and decided to spend the extra $1,500 to get the 77" OLED version instead of X90J. First movie we watched was Encanto and I was mesmerized with the vivid colors. After that I have only average feedback. Biggest thing is to consider how often you will be watching 4K sourced content. I spend watching my content from Fios and Apple TV. Cable viewing is decent but you don't benefit much from the OLED. Apple TV streaming content is good but not worth all of the hassles this TV comes with. Constant loss of audio connection with my Sonos Arc and always having issues with the video source not being detected. Now, I tried to set up Google TV and every time it runs for an hour with no luck. Based on the limited time I spend watching movies and other 4k content I wish I saved the money and went to the next level non OLED.Too many quirks...TVs should be as simple as turning on and viewing...no other experience can be justified

We'd love to help you troubleshoot your problem and turn this into a better experience. Some of these issues can be fixed by simply restarting the TV. To do that, simply press and hold the Power button until Restart appears on the TV screen, and then press Enter to restart it.
To make sure your TV runs as smooth as possible, we highly recommend downloading and installing the latest software for the TV. A firmware update improves the functionality and features of your unit. It can provide fixes to any performance issues that may occur.

First and Last Sony OLED
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had my Sony XR A80j less than 10 months has developed a line of what appear to be dead pixels that trace from top to bottom. The issue shows up on the menu screen and the Apple TV play back screen so I believe it is with the tv screen itself. T This is the first Sony tv issue I have ever had in 20 years of buying their TVs and I’m very disappointed in Sony at this point. I’m going to try to get it looked at under warranty, I’ll update this post after that.

I am getting used to the Sony. The picture has an option for "vivid", but several salepeople keep advising me not to use that setting. I was use to a more vivid picture with my Samsungs. Also disappointed that there were no RCA jacks. Lastly, I was told that I could download the Spectrum app but this turned out to be inaccurate, so I am still paying for my Spectrum cable box :(

Best tv that I have owned

I picked this one for the you tube tv reviews I watched. It took me over two months to finally pull the trigger and buy this tv. I also got the geek squad to set it up and couldn’t be more satisfied with that service. I had a hick up three days later where the tv didn’t sink up with the remotes direct tv. Called and got a response from geek to come back and find the problem. It was a little thing about buttons pushed and fixed three remotes all in sink.I can’t say this is the best 200 bucks I ever spent but close. So far more than satisfied with my purchase and service from geek squad.

A bit darker screen than I would prefer when watching sci-fi, and most recently I had trouble finding optimal settings for The Batman which was a very dark film. All other genres look spectacular.

With regards to highlights or content from various apps being displayed throughout the For you tab on the home screen, if you selected Set up Google TV at the initial setup, movies and TV recommendations in For you come from your list of streaming services. By selecting Manage Services from the Home menu, you can change or disable your list of services if you do not want to display recommendations based on your viewing history and subscriptions.
You can also configure various settings related to the TV display such as color and brightness for picture quality, or screen size. Select the appropriate picture setting for your Google TV. Stellar picture, horrible quality control

So why the 2 stars? 1. Quality control is horrible. First TV: the screen looked like an antique mirror, it had dimples on it everywhere, like a car with hail damage. The glass was fine, it was whatever is under the glass. It also exhibited 2 faint lines on the upper part of the screen, about 15" apart, that could be seen in brighter scenes and especially when sitting at a bit of an angle. Best Buy called the dimple screen issue the lottery panel and exchanged the TV. I had heard about this issue and thought a TV would either have it or it will not. That is incorrect. The second TV also has it, although much less. The 2 lines are the top are almost gone, they are so faint 99% of people will not notice them. I upgraded the power cord to a shielded one and plugged the TV into a power conditioner with a video filter. The Apple TV is connected with a certified HDMI cable, has a shielded power cable plugged in to a power conditioner. No dirty current coming into this set. Even if Best Buy agrees to replace it again, who's to say the 3rd one will not be as bad as the 1st one. Moreover, we are in an area the Geek Squad does not cover and they contract out to a pathetic company who sends one tech in a personal vehicle to install a 77" TV. So we have to install it ourselves, which involves a risk of damaging the TV. 2. Build quality is a joke: this is from someone who's had over two dozen TVs and monitors: CRT, plasma, LCD, LED and OLED. The chassis is cheap plastic. The screen is not perfectly uniform and the sides are not flush so if you mount this on the wall you will get an ugly gap for 1/3 of the height. The flagship Panasonic plasma (8 yrs old) is made out metal and glass (screen is straight as an arrow, no dimples) and thinner overall than this oled. Yes, that used to cost $6k in 2013 and this TV is $3.5k with money being worth less, but still, shame on you Sony, in this price range you don't get only peasants buying, some of us care about the execution of the product not just how bright it is. Second build quality issue is compatibility with Apple TV 4K. The TV shift the image slightly, so we end up with a black border thicker on one side than on the other. This happens only left and right, not up and down. I have 2 LEDs from Sony from last year, and they do not do that with the Apple TV 4K. The 55" Oled also has this issue. 3. Best Buy customer Service is lacking, depending who you deal with: - 1st TV was purchased online. Chat service confirmed it will be delivered by the Geek Squad who will send two techs. I am a Total Tech member. After ordering the TV online, Manada Technologies called to schedule the install. Very rude and unprofessional people. After pushing for an answer, they confirmed they are sending 1 tech in a personal vehicle to install a 77" TV. After I hung up with them, I went online to cancel the delivery and install. It was not possible, the button was grayed out. The chat service could not help either. I ended up calling, they cancelled the install. I went and picked up the TV myself after reading horror stories on here about TVs being delivered to the wrong address or being damaged during delivery. All this to end up with a TV with dimples. Went back to Best Buy (the stores do not take calls anymore). After some back and forth, they agreed to replace the TV. They delivery guys came in a big truck, picked up the 1st TV and delivered the 2nd. Is this TV worth it? Well that depends. I bought it from BB and added the 2 year Geek Squad on it to have it serviced at home BB is the only company who covers burn in. Done the research on it. They may also be the only company who will exchange your TV for the panel lottery issue. It is NOT worth $4500. At $3500, it's a maybe, as long as you buy smart so you can return it easily.

Sounds good without any extra speakers, picture doesn’t give me motion sickness as friends’ tvs sometimes do, & it has been easy to just start using it with no problems or tech help needed.

Kind of lame IMO. The two person installation team were efficient and nice!
