Now I have Dirty Screen Effect but with checker boards throughout the whole panel. I bought the whole home protection when I bought the TV from their in-home advisor. A few months later I was told the TV was not included because I bought the plan separately. I was told by the advisor that this protection added an extra year of warranty to my TV. So that was dishonest and now I’m told I need a new panel. Meaning I need a new TV. I don’t trust Best Buy anymore. Buyer Beware!!!

At first the picture looked great but then I watched a hockey game and I noticed some vertical banding. I was so angry so I got it replaced and the next one was worse. I can see a grid pattern on most shows. I read other reviews with the same issues. Sony responded to someone's review complaining about vertical banding and they said it's a optical illusion because of the new anti-glare screen. I am replacing this with the Sony X91j which doesn't have the new anti-glare screen, hopefully it's great like my old TV was. If not, I will be getting a different brand.

Thank you for reaching out to us. We're sorry to hear the issues that you are experiencing with the X95J TV. This is definitely not the experience we want you to have with us. If you are seeing vertical banding on the screen, the TV achieves high picture quality and a wide viewing angle due to its optical design. Due to the TV’s optical design, bright ambient light that enters the TV reflects inside the panel, resulting in visible vertical stripes. You can reduce the vertical stripes by reducing the ambient light that enters the TV. If you close your window coverings or adjust the direction of the TV to avoid reflections of a window on the TV screen, the vertical stripes become less visible. This phenomenon occurs as a result, but it's not a malfunction. The image of the TV screen won't be affected. Due to the characteristics of the LCD panel and the design of the X95J model series, it's easy to see the phenomenon on a monochrome still-picture. When the TV is installed with the top tilted back, this phenomenon is also easier to see. If it is installed and placed normally, the degree to which this phenomenon is noticed may be reduced. Lowering the contrast setting in the user menu may also make it less noticeable. The effects are minimal when you're watching TV because the light emitting out of the TV screen is brighter than the ambient light. However, the vertical stripes tend to be more visible in dark scenes, so taking measures to reduce ambient light is recommended.
