TV shows a bright, vivid picture. Superb color accuracy out of the box. It also contains the best upscaling processing that I've ever seen. It upscales 1080 content to near 4K quality. Movies from the early 80s and 90s appear with shocking new details now. Motion handling with sports is excellent. It also has reasonably strong black levels. After a few minor adjustments to settings, this TV shows a spectacular picture. I finally have a TV that looks every bit as good as it did when I demoed it in the store. I viewed the 850f side by side with the 900f. Their image appeared identical. The only difference I could discern, is the 900f with it's local dimming setting engaged appeared to have black levels around 15% deeper than the 850f. Definitely not worth the $1,500 difference in price between the two. So I went with the 850f and could not be happier.

Total crap. I knew better than buy Sony but I thought they must have gotten their act together. After 2 years the top 1/3 of the screen has turned blue. I expect more form a higher end line and at this price point. Buy Sony at your own risk.

I Have a 75in Sharp quad pixel TV that I thought had a great picture, but I been watching the older version the XBR85-850D in the store and when it went on sale I decided to buy it, when I went to my Best buy store the Sony rep. was there and explained a the difference between the 850D witch is the 2016 model and 850F is 2018 model and wow what a upgrade, just got it installed to day buy the Geek squad on the wall and they did a great job i think i could have done it my self but it weighs 97lbs and if you put to much pressure on the screen you can crack it and did not want to risk damaging a 5000$ TV so it was worth the 200$ to let the Geeks do it and wow what a picture between the voice control and all the 4K content on line defiantly worth the extra money in my option and i still can not believe the picture on this thing i am still just blown away with this TV has to be seen to believe and it hook up to my Yamaha RX-A2060 receiver and i have 7 Klipsch speakers so i don't think i will be going to see a movie in a theater ever again because I think this TV look better than the IMAX and that saying a lot but that how impressed i am with this set up.

I originally got the Sony x930e 65" for Dolby Vision. I wasn't satisfied with the screen size for movies that have an aspect ratio of 2:35:1 or wider like Star Wars. Then when I found out that Disney wasn't stick with Dolby Vision for all their 4k release. So I decided to get the 85" HDR only X-850F! It totally blew my mind how much detail in Actor's expression and background actors misadventures I didn't see, or notice as well before. I'm in the middle of revising my old library and building my 4k. The uprezing looks pretty impressive. I may not buy over some of my bluray. So far, it's been like adult Christmas every time I watch a movie. This size or higher is definitely for cinema lovers.

I purchased this Sony XB 85" X850F Ultra HD TV after many hours/days of research and a few trips to Best Buy in Concord, NH. This TV is remarkable with the clarity it gives you and multitude of functions. This set replaced a 6 year old 70" Vizio that served us well, but we wanted to upgrade to a newer and larger set and very glad we made the choice to go with this model Sony. Best Buy customer service was excellent with the time they took to educate me on the various newer model TV's, and Sony customer support was also very good to help with any questions I may have had during setup. I hung mine on a wall that accommodated it perfectly and would definitely recommend this set IF you have the room for it in your home (It is quite large). My wife and I enjoy watching this TV as much as going to the Movies!

We had a Samsung 65" that we sold and bought this TV to replace it. I can honestly say I hated the Samsung TV and I always had problems with it. This TV is amazing, the picture quality is perfect and it is easy to use and navigate. l would recommend it to anyone! The sound is really good as well.

Mediocre but passable picture, dislike AndroidTV

I've had this TV for about 3 weeks now. The picture quality of this 85 incher is OK...Each of the 4 corners has a noticeable dim area on any image of average brightness or higher, otherwise the picture is good. I didn't notice any such issues when looking at a floor model in my local Best Buy of this unit prior to purchase, but they always run fantastic looking demo images meant to hide flaws. Maybe there are some picture adjustments I could try, it is all factory default right now. Black levels and dark scenes are better than the few year old 80" 4k vizio (that died due to a vertical green stripe on screen) it replaces. I've been hoping for an AndroidTV Oreo update, still stuck on the factory original version. This being my first experience with AndroidTV, I really dislike the flow of it. There is a significant in-continuity of the various Android menus vs the various TV setting menus - nothing flows well and I'm always fumbling to find what I want as it isn't integrated well. I expected much much better of Sony. Sometimes the menu appears on the top, sometimes the sides, overlaying in odd ways with the Android menu which I also don't care for - I've never had a problem with any other TV or set top box in this way. My wife simply won't use this TV at all because of the control nuisance - I have to be in the room or else she will just watch shows on her phone - going from 85" to 6.5" should say something. I've now set the TV up as basically nothing more than a glorified monitor and control the set using basically ANY other smart device/source we are using, from the DVD/BluRay player to my Amazon Fire TV or various receiver streaming functions. I am an Android user for phones, however, and not inherently prejudiced against it. As for the remote, I really don't like the way it feels in hand - squarish with rounded but not rounded enough edges. It feels like a long rectangular brick and not at all comfortable. Buttons are not in convenient positions for my hand size which is about average and some of the button functions are not as obvious as it should be for navigating the various operations, so I've gone to using a different smart remote or even the IR blaster on my phone...it just feels better for me to use. The net of the situation is I wouldn't buy this TV again, and given Android TV I probably won't buy any set that has that as the operating system, but that is my personal preference. If you like Android TV, by all means go for it. I'm really hoping the Oreo firmware update happens and improves the situation a little - Sony had apparently released it, then pulled it, some months later I'm waiting for it. This may well be the first TV ever that I replace before it goes bad. It is just a matter of how long I decide to tolerate the picture's corner issues as well as deal with Android TV and the remote when I absolutely have to. Yep, I have some buyer's remorse on this one.

Lasted me 5 years. Is that normal? I feel like my mom had her tv for half my life. This sucks. The screen is completely jacked up with lines . No I never hit it or threw things at it. It’s just been hanging out on the wall this whole time.

Bought an 85" Sony TV in 2018. Less than 4 yrs old and it's broken, no power. Sony's closest service provider is 400 miles away, best buy won't provide service even if I paid for it. Lots of money lost have to replace the TV. Really bad luck

I paid for a google vidoe- the minute i hit play the screen goes back and google video stops working till the movie is over. so wasted the money for the video. Then i go to to Amazon Prime and order a movie and the same thing happens. So This $,4000 TV is a wast - this is going back. waste of money
