My DirecTV programming looked God-awful. No matter how much I messed with the settings my wiring on either the TV or the DirecTV box it didn't matter it looked horrible. This TV simply cannot deal with wired 1080 or 720 signal. It could be the sheer size of the panel maybe 85 in is too much for DirecTV signal or it just could be an inability to upscale and fill the screen. I will tell you this the Samsung I replaced it with has no such issues and neither did the bargain Vizio that I had before it.

We are sorry to hear that. This is definitely not the customer experience we want you to have. HD contents that are played on the TV are upscaled close to 4K levels of detail by 4K X-Reality PRO using a unique 4K database but will vary based on source content. You can also set the picture setting of the TV to Auto picture mode to automatically select the picture mode based on the content being viewed. Make sure the TV is up-to-date by performing a software update to improve its performance: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00119543. The updates also include key features, applications, and bug fixes. Make sure to check your DirecTV for firmware updates as well. Despite your concern, it's good to know that you like the spectacular picture quality of your BRAVIA when using YouTube TV. The picture is clear no drag in the picture with a clear color from the satellite receiver. We feel good about recommending this as a good purchase.

We are using the TV with a Roku streamer and a Nakamichi soundbar system. So, we really can't speak to the TV speakers or onboard streaming. We had no trouble updating the software using a wired connection. Hope to have many years of entertainment from this TV.
