It has the manual focus, but the lens that came with it is awful. When focusing in, it actually zooms in really close to help you adjust the focus, but then it won't let you take the picture like that for some reason. The digital zoom is next to nothing. I honestly regret blowing $1000+ on this camera, sure it takes nice photos but I wanted something for wildlife photography and this is not the one. Now the next step is unfortunately buying another lens which is way more money...

I bought this camera on the recommendation from a friend who is a pro photographer/video person. There was definitely some learning curve for me, but this camera has really been a pleasure to work with and is reliable. Get yourself some extra batteries and you'll be happy that you did.
