The Sony A6400 is a compact, powerful mirrorless camera that delivers excellent image quality, cutting-edge autofocus, and strong 4K video performance. With its 24.2MP APS-C sensor and fast Real-Time Eye Autofocus, it excels in both photography and video, vloggers would love, content creators, and hobbyist photographers. The 180° flip-up touchscreen and microphone input make it especially appealing for self-shooting, while its rugged, weather-sealed body adds durability for travel or outdoor use. While the A6400 lacks in-body image stabilization and a headphone jack, its strengths in autofocus tracking, sharp 4K video (with no recording time limit), and compact form factor outweigh those limitations for most users. The menu system can be dense, but it's highly customizable, and battery life is decent with options to power externally. Overall, the A6400 has tremendous value for creators seeking a hybrid camera that performs exceptionally well across both stills and video. All in all, I'd recommend to a friend!!

Crazy Good Autofocus and ISO performance

This camera seriously surprised me, as a Canon shooter moving over to the Sony side, this camera is no slouch. In my opinion it is comparable to the Canon 7D mark ii. Minus the battery life, it kinda sucks on Sony mirror less cameras. Pictures are relatively noise free, even at higher ISOs like 6400 or 12,800, as well as having insane detail. I'll put some pics here and let you be the judge, granted not high quality since bestbuy limits me to only 5MB per photo, so there will be some compression. Definitely a good camera at this price point, highly recommend. Only complaint I have besides the battery life, is the menu system. SONY! JUST MAKE IT LIKE CANONS!

I recently purchased the Sony Alpha a6400 Mirrorless Camera with the 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS lens, and I’ve been genuinely impressed. The 4K video quality is sharp and clean, and the autofocus is fast and reliable — it tracks faces and subjects with ease, which has made shooting content much smoother for me. The camera is lightweight, easy to travel with, and the flip-up screen is super convenient for self-recording or vlogging. I also like that the lens gives you a good amount of range, so you can shoot a variety of scenes without needing to switch lenses constantly. Overall? She’s sleek, light, and makes me feel like I actually know what I’m doing — 10/10 would recommend if you’re ready to level up your content.

I purchased this Sony A6400 about a month ago and have been really impressed. A few weeks earlier I had purchased a Canon M50 (similar camera), but I was not impressed with the indoor photos. It took great outdoor photos, but not so much for the indoor photos. After returning to BB, I spoke with a very knowledgeable young sales lady and we discussed both cameras and she indicated the images from the Canon and Sony were comparable outdoors, but indoors, the Sony was much better. After a few weeks of use, I agree and would recommend this. It was quite a bit more expensive than the M50, but if you're not happy with the quality of the pictures, I was willing to spend the additional on the A6400. I also own a Canon T7i but the Sony is much more compact when I don't want to carry around my "big" camera.

I bought this camera mainly for autofocus in video. Video quality and autofocus is great. There is no IBIS in this camera so there can be a little shake. Also, I’ve noticed the rolling shutter. However this doesn’t change my opinion. This is a powerful little camera. It’s quickly becoming my main camera over my Nikon. The portability and versatility with this kit can’t be beat. Even with the kit lens photos are pretty sharp. I am pleasantly surprised how this camera does in low light. I’ve taken a keeper for insta at 16000 iso. One thing I do not like is that there is no in camera timelapse video. There is interval shooting built into the camera. On the a6000 with the playmemories app it would make a video file as well as raw images. Now it takes a little more time to convert raw image to timelapse video on the computer. One of my favorite things about this camera is silent shooting. Keep in mind at higher shutter speed or fast moving subjects there can be rolling shutter in the image. However I use this feature when doing timelapse with a slow shutter speed. The battery seems to last a little longer and there’s no physical wear and tear on the mechanical shutter.

Amazing for taking pictures & for doing vlogs with the flip up screen. It is lightweight so you dont have to worry about it being too heavy. Only down side to the camera is the menu is a bit overwhelming but easy to navigate so just a learning curve. Overall great purchase would highly recommend 9/10. Hope this review helps.

Absolutely love the Sony A6400 with the 18-135mm lens! Image quality is sharp, autofocus is lightning fast, and the zoom range makes it super versatile for travel, portraits, and everyday shooting. Lightweight but powerful — I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable all-around camera.

I have been shooting the previous generation Sony NEX-7 so when this came out in August, I finally got it this past December. This is a great travel camera with improved auto focus and much faster response. The previous gen sometimes can be laggy when capturing street action, this one managed to keep up. Paired with great e mount lenses that are smaller and lighter, this is best mirrorless camera system. Be sure to select fast speed lenses or great quality OSS lenses if you are doing video since this camera has no IBIS, get the a6600 if you need that. Cons: It takes some time to get used to the menu system since it's its weakest point. However rest assured there's a solution to that which was not previously available which is to set frequently used menu to shortcut by utilizing the various available custom functions and buttons.

I really wanna rate it 4.5 stars. Overall, this is a really good camera. The autofocus is excellent and the 4k video recording is stellar. The lighter weight versus a DSLR is nice. My main complaints are the lack of a pinky hold and battery life. I know a smaller camera is a lighter camera but I miss the full hand grip of my Nikon. I also only get about 50mins recoding 4k video and 390 pictures with he EVF before the battery dies. As this was a complaint with older models I wish they had improved it for the A6400.

This is my first purchases of a "real" camera, and I couldn't be happier. The price was a bit of a shock, but this camera had more features than the similarly modeled Sony cameras for my purposes. The 18-135 zoom lens is great for wide angle AND telephoto shots. I know that I have a lot to learn before I can really take full advantage of this camera, but so far I am very impressed! I also purchased the 50mm 1.8/f lens and really like the photos I've taken in my first day with the camera (even with my crappy apartment lighting).

I recently picked up the Sony a6400 with the 18-135mm lens from Best Buy, and it’s been a game-changer for my photography and video projects. The autofocus is incredibly fast and sticky, it locks onto eyes and faces instantly, which makes shooting portraits or 4K video so much easier. I specifically went with the 18-135mm lens kit because of its versatility. It’s great for everything from wide architectural shots to tight close-ups, so I don't have to constantly swap lenses while I'm out. The build quality feels solid but it's still compact enough to carry around all day

Bought this camera almost a year ago and it is very fun to use and takes amazing images and video. The 4K video looks fantastic out of this thing and still images are as well, I bought it primarily as a video camera, and low light doesn't have too much noise and it deals with contrast in light very well. Recorded an EDM concert with it and it turned out great! That goes for sound as well, it is very good stand alone. Battery life isn't super, but that just seems to come with the territory. The focus on this camera is super fast, it's hard to catch something out of focus. With the lens it comes with it is super well balanced and feels great to hold and use. The OLED view finder is very nice to use as well and you can use it exclusively if you want to do everything. For the price of this thing, it's hard to beat. Can take a bit of doing to get settings right, learn buttons and settings layout, but it's very nice once you learn it.

I'm a long time A6000 user and decided to step up to the A6400. It did not disappoint. The form factor is identical, but better build quality (magnesium instead of plastic). 4K footage is surprisingly clean. And image quality is signature Sony. The Sony lens game has certainly improved over the past 4 years. This is a great camera for vlogging, Youtube videos, and photography. You could easily use this as second camera for b-roll. I wish it had 4:2:2 10 bit video capture, but that might be asking too much. The 18-135mm lens with this kit is surprisingly good, even with the variable aperture. The image is mostly sharp unless you are all the way wide. I have also used this with the Elgato Camlink 4K. This might be overkill for that purpose, but you will never look better on a Zoom call. The only con is the stupid Sony menu system. This fixed this on the A6500, but that is a far more expensive camera and a bit bigger. The good thing is you can still use your A6000 batteries with this camera.

So I have been researching my first camera for over a year and have been deciding between DSLR and Mirrorless, eventually I decided due to the relatively smaller size of a mirrorless I would be more inclined to carry it everywhere and want to get good at it. For most, the cost may be the only downside for a first camera but I can honestly tell this is something that you can grow into as you grow in your craft. Sony cameras in general caught my eye because of how easy the software on them is to navigate in addition to how nice they look. I originally decided to settle on the Sony a5100 because of the flip screen, kid you not the day I went to purchase Sony announced the release of the 6400 and I decided to wait. I bout the most expensive lens option and am beyond satisfied with how it performs. Didn’t take long to figure out and how to navigate and now it goes everywhere I go.
