A Hybrid Beast / Peace of Mind

Everyone can talk about sensors & AI & all of the other stuff, but it comes down to this: It DOES NOT overheat. Some people have had it happen, others haven’t. The A7V ensures we all don’t have it happen AT ALL. It doesn’t even get hot. The battery life is exceptional. I run these for a hour or more at a time, slog 4K/24 10bit. At no point in recording am I thinking about “is it going to overheat, I wonder how hot it is, is the battery going to die?”…this was always a thought with my A7 IV. Everyone knows gear failure during a shoot cannot happen. It’s a non-negotiable. For that peace of mind & aside from the technical upgrades, it’s more than worth the price. This camera is a hybrid beast for photos & videos.

Amazing Camera

Huge upgrade coming A7m3

AF is ver good and picture quality at high ISO beats my A7m3. I used it for indoor swimming sports and I can’t complain with the results. Highly recommended if you are looking to use it for sport photography. I have not tested video yet.

Noticeable upgrade form the A7 IV

At the time I first used it, my lens was still in transit. So I used the ASPC Kit lens from the ZVE10. Even with that lens, I was able to really see and feel the difference in the response time, and functionality in low light scenarios; like in the ET ride queue. I look forward to seeing the results it provides at HHN with a proper full frame lens.

Un happy with the purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After purchasing the Sony Alpha 7 V, within the first 2 days I noticed a small dot inside the EVF. I went to Best Buy, but they advised me to contact Sony support. Sony support asked me to send the camera for inspection. They identified an issue inside the EVF and replaced the EVF assembly and related parts under warranty. The repair process took about 2.5 weeks. While the issue has been resolved and the camera is now working properly, it was disappointing to experience a defect so soon after purchase, along with the downtime during repair.

It’s faster and Katina that I love about. It is the scream if you do video it is a perfect camera. Not only video the picture quality it’s improved a lot faster, and sharper.

Great starting point for full frame!

The image quality and color science are top-tier, yet the experience isn't without its quirks; specifically, the camera can be surprisingly stubborn in Auto Mode, occasionally refusing to trip the shutter until you manually intervene with a tap on the touchscreen to confirm focus. While this "Auto-Mode hesitation" can be a bit of a flow-killer during fast-paced shooting, the A7V remains an unbeatable all-rounder that rewards you with stunning results—provided you don't mind giving the screen a little poke every now and then to keep the momentum going.
