Mainly impressed with the photo and video quality. Shines when using SONY Prime Lens. Love using this with my gimbal for videos and very lightweight vs my previous A73 mirrorless camera. Cant wait to take this out on my next adventure!

Very impressed with color of photos vs my Google Pixel cell phone. Taking it to Japan in two weeks. I recommend purchasing additional thumb grip can't imagine not having one now.

Great camera with one tragic flaw

The camera is lightweight and takes great photos. The big weakness though is the viewfinder. It’s better than the original, but it’s small, not comfortable to use (especially with glasses on), and lacks good resolution compared to the A7 IV or A7R V. In the end, it wasn’t worth the trade off for the compact size for me, but may be fine for others. Depends on your preferences. At this price point, you may be better off finding a A7R V on sale or used. Certainly worth a look.

Owned for 7 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the Sony A7CR for a while now, and honestly—it feels like one of those rare cameras that actually delivers on the promise of “small but powerful.” What immediately stands out is how incredibly compact it is for a full-frame camera. It’s light enough that I don’t think twice about bringing it everywhere, which, for me, already makes it a win. Compared to bulkier setups, this one just fits into real life so much better—especially for travel or long shooting days. But the real magic is in the image quality. The 61MP sensor is just… insane. The level of detail you can pull out of photos gives so much flexibility—cropping, reframing, printing large—it all holds up beautifully. Colors are rich without feeling overdone, and the dynamic range gives a lot of room to work in post, especially when shooting landscapes or high-contrast scenes. Autofocus is another highlight. It’s fast, reliable, and almost feels like it reads your mind sometimes. Whether it’s tracking people, eyes, or moving subjects, it just locks in and stays there. It takes a lot of the stress out of capturing the moment. That said, it’s not perfect. The ergonomics can feel a bit tight, especially if you’re used to larger bodies. And while the compact size is a huge advantage, it also means fewer physical controls and a slightly smaller grip. The viewfinder is good, but not the most immersive compared to higher-end Sony bodies. Battery life is decent, but I’d still recommend carrying a spare—especially if you’re shooting all day. Overall, the Sony A7CR feels like a powerhouse packed into a minimalist body. It’s ideal if you want top-tier image quality without carrying a heavy kit. For travel, street, and everyday photography, it’s honestly hard to beat.

Ultimate little sleeper camera

I’m coming from a Sony a7iv and I was worried about the feel in the hand and downgraded viewfinder both of which have been adjustment but I’m now loving the small form factor, and the viewfinder is more than usable although it does seem a bit dimmer than the viewfinder on the a7iv same for the lcd screen. The 61megapixles is simply amazing having all that resolution makes it super ez to crop and still retain enough resolution for large print. I have a button programmed to apsc mode which drops the resolution to 24mp still super useable and turns my 24mm lens into a 35mm and my 40mm into a 64mm. Overall been loving the size and resolution and new AI based focus chip make this camera the ultimate sleeper camera!

Tried 2 so far, bith Dead in Arrival

Anytime I turned it on, would get "battery exhausted" before it died.So I returned the first, and the replacement one fives me the same issue. Im not sure if these are bad batteries, or they have a flawed charging port, but I did a Sony support chat and they are sending me a new battery.
