This is a great camera for a professional or a beginner upgrading from a point and shoot. This is a lightweight mirror less camera, and even know you cannot put it in a small bag like a point and shoot with the 16-55MM lens, it still is nice and small. It has a lot of settings pros may want to in it. It can take some great photos. Battery life is claimed of 420 shots, but I took over 800+ photos, and still had over 50% battery. The one thing I find kinda weird is the menus are surprisingly complicated for easy features you may want. Also, the little scroll/click wheel is a odd thing. It isn't touch screen, but I really do like it's 3 inch articulating screen. It also gives 3 seconds when the screen is up, which i enjoy

I just recently started taking pictures, which this camera is perfect for. I am very new to photography and I think this is a great starter camera. The pictures are incredibly clear and the flash makes everyone look good. I would highly recommend this camera.

I'm your typical point-and-shoot user. I decided to go to the next level with the mirrorless, and I'm extremely pleased with my purchase! I'm a die hard Sony fan, and this camera has a beautiful user interface, easy to use right out of the box, and it has the ability to change out the lens, which is super exciting! I can learn at my own pace, make adjustments with lighting, etc, and have the ability to take action shots, beautiful night images and panoramic shots with ease. The photos I've taken of my daughters marching band (day and night) have turned out AMAZING!!! Photos I never thought would turn out (with all the movement) were crystal clear! 10 STARS and a continued lover of Sony's camera line. :)

I had been looking for a new camera for several months and talked to several people, both camera professionals and novice photographers for some recommendations. I had come to the conclusion that an DSLR was what I wanted, but which one. The Sony a5000 was recommended as it has the same capabilities as a full sized DSLR in a much smaller package. I read reviews and the only two things that I can see being an issue are the charging cord/charging ability, and the small size of the camera. The batteries are charged in camera via a VERY short USB/wall plug. It can be charged via a computer but it takes 5 hrs to fully charge the batttery so that's not really practical, and the cord is so short that it can only be charged on a counter/desk or on the floor next to an outlet. (With a two year old in the house the floor is a dangerous option.) I have chosen to buy an extra battery and charger. The size is fine for me, but after reading a man's review of the camera he found it a bit small and a little difficult to hold, I can see how this might be an issue for some. I find the menus easy to navigate compared to some standard DSLR cameras that I tried out before deciding on this one. I have only had the camera for a couple of weeks, but so far the pictures are great and I am really looking forward to using this camera a lot. I have also ordered a jacket for the camera as the lens is quite large compared to the camera body and I'm just a little cautious about tossing the camera in a bag as is, and I really can't see carrying the camera bag every time I go to the park or out with my son. I love this little beauty of a camera.

This camera works great, pictures are great, it took me a while to get used to it because I used a Nikon prior. The bad part is using out in the sun it's difficult to see what you are photographing because of the glare. I bought a little device that helps block the sun but still have issues. Other than that, it works great.

It's was an amazing camera. Very user friendly. Picture quality was amazing for the price. Upload pictures via wifi was quick. Camera was light, not too bulky, and easy to carry around. So far I am enjoying the camera.

this is a small but very capable camera. great IQ for this camera.

I love this camera. I use to to film makeup tutorial videos for YouTube. The only grip I have is that if it's around lights too long, it over heats and after about 30 minutes it'll stop recording. I probably have to play with the settings but it's okay. This is a great camera to start off with or to advanced to if you've been using lesser of a camera.

Great camera for vlogging and very good quality. Not as heavy as one of my Nikons. I really like the screen that folds up to record in the front therefore you can see what you are vlogging

I use this camera for basic vlogging and picture taking. It is easy to use and transfers video and photos to my mac book easily. I haven't tried to send video or photo without manually connecting it with the usb be cord yet but it shows that feature is available. I would highly recommend this camera.

Great for a new photographer. This has been great for my daughter to learn on. She is taking beautiful pictures and now we know she really is interested in photography. She has taken some beautiful landscape pictures, still pictures, and action shots. It can do everything.
