The videos are really clear and nice, and the audio is also decent. The biggest flaw is that the battery overheats after recording for over 20 minutes and shuts down. Also the screen gets scratched easily. I’ve had this product for a view years now and I don’t think it was worth the price I paid. I don’t believe I’ll ever buy a sony camera again.

Posted .Hello collegestudent, thank you for your feedback on the a5100. More recent models have now better heat management and do not have the 30min recording limit either.
Poor/slow focus in low light/indoor photos

After reading so many positive reviews all I could think is this camera can't possibly be messed up. Finally after this past holiday season and the frustration during key photo ops like NYE, I realized I can't stand it anymore. I'm going to return this camera and here's why: for a lot of the indoor photos come out blurry and are impossible to focus. I'm a photographer by profession so this is something I got just for day-to-day, I can't fit my dSLR in my purse, occasions and I can take decent photos with this camera but if I give it to anyone else, it's hard for them to use. I need a camera that is easy to use for anyone.

Also, to make sure that the camera will focus on the subject, half press the shutter button to lock the focus and once the focus indicators are lock, you can press the shutter button all the way down. -Zander

I will have to buy a new lens or return it for a larger model. over all its nice and light.

One complaint was that the minimum picture size was in the neighborhood of 2mb and all had to be resized before I could post them to my ads. The biggest problem is that after just over a year the lens stopped working. Camera was never dropped or abused at all. The lens would make a noise but not extend. Was told at BB that nothing was covered -- did I want to buy another one as a replacement. A belated internet search showed this to be a common problem.
