You can ride the intelligent auto setting or experiment and customize settings. While on vacation with the new camera I was in blazing sunshine, morning clouds and indoor while the auto setting captured very nice photos. I'm slowly gaining experience at making the settings on my own, Plan to attend camera training at my local Best Buy in 2 weeks. Training will help me flip thru all the menus. I really like the contour grip that helps steady my hand. Changing the lens is very easy and protective caps are a snap. Thanks SONY for nice features.

Easy to use great picture quality good lens light weight

I wanted a camera that was not too expensive, but would still grow with me and have flexibility as my interest in photography grows. I felt this was the best option. I had never had a mirrorless camera before, nor have I had a true DLSR camera. Typical point-and-shoots were just not what I wanted. The extra lens on this unit is super nice as well.

This camera was purchased for my son. He's in high school and is planning a career in interior design and planning on studying abroad, so a small camera that will travel easily was a major factor in his decision. He wanted a camera that he could use for a variety of uses - documenting his life, art projects, and artistic expression. Things he loves about the camera - its menu system, robust build, and image quality. No external mic input is a shortcoming for video.

This camera is NOT for people who want a point & shoot. It's for serious photographers or hobbyists who don't mind studying and learning the cameras menus and functions. It has a lot of the advanced features of a professional camera. Amateur photographers will need to read the manual or view YouTube tutorials to get good pictures from this camera. The included kit lenses seem to be satisfactory for a starter like me. I don't know if a pro would like them or not. Final analysis - this camera is not for kids or adults who have short attention spans. It's for individuals who are tech/camera savvy.

Great Camera haven't had any issues. Good quality and good price

I originally looked at a a9 camera but the price point was too high for a non-professional camera. The a6000 has an excellent low-light capability without extra lights and gear required. With the additional 55-210 lens, this is my go-to for hiking and getting clear distance shots. It doesn't eat batteries and can focus in easily for quick action shots.

The Sony alpha a6000 is a great camera. It can take high quality, automatic focus, shutter and f stop pictures, or it can be set to use in a manual mode where the photographer sets the settings. And, it take good movies as well. Over all, I really enjoy using it and suspect I will never be able to take advantage of all the setting options it has to offer.
