Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Alpha a6000's camera quality, ease of use, and compact size, frequently praising its lightweight design. Many also appreciate the camera's features and find it offers good value for the price. However, some users note that the battery life could be improved, and low-light performance and autofocus could be more reliable. The telephoto lens's autofocus functionality has also received some criticism.

I did a lot of research before investing in this camera. So far it has met every expectation. Definitely a good camera for a beginner. Takes amazing pictures and has been easy to learn.

I purchased the Sony a6000 because I was having difficulty photographing my very active 4 year old and 18 month grandkids. This camera really does the job. The camera is very quick. I now usually shoot photos of my grandkids in a three shot burst. If I ever need to, the camera is capable of shooting at 11 photos in one second. I also appreciate the compact size of the Sony camera. It's much less cumbersome than full size DSLRs. The 24 megapixels allows for a great deal of editing after the photo is taken. Finally, the camera has enough bells and whistles to keep and amateur like me from getting bored. My only complaint at this point is that the kit lens do not have great F/stops.

As a Prosumer Nikon shooter, the A6000 was my first venture into the mirrorless camera realm. I took the camera along with the 16-50 and 55-210 lenses with me on a 10 day trip to Portugal. The combo was light as a feather and the pictures were outstanding. Given the high ISO capabilities, the low light performance was exceptional.

Although this camera was first released about 4 years ago, it still does an awesome job of capturing images. The light weight, cost and image quality make this a great purchase.

Entry level camera?!?! I purchased this package since the reviews I've been reading were all favorable for Sony and many had Sony as the top choice for entry level cameras to record video. I wanted a camera to record his football games, but didn't get one in time. I was, however, able to record his venture into a new sport and am quite impressed! I've even more impressed with the quality of the photos that I can take with these kits lenses!!

By far, the best camera. A little pricey but worth the money. The camera has a setting to allow you to learn the angles and setting with the camera. Amazing for beginners

My son started playing football so I bought the kit with a zoom lens. So far, this little camera exceeds my expectation. Photos came out great. Not to mention the speed of autofocus that it capturs 11 pictures/sec. But what amazes me is the video quality. Trying to decide between A600 and A6300. I chose A6000 and the big difference between the two is 4k video. Other than that, they are almost identical. A6300 is just a slight faster as it uses phase detection. A6000 with 2 lenses is a lot cheaper than A6300 with just one lens. Glad I chose A6000.

I am a beginner. I've never used more than a point and shoot before. But this camera is awesome. It can be the best point and shoot ever, but with interchangeable lenses and more settings than I'll ever use, I could use this as a professional. I think it is an awesome camera to grow with. The only drawback is that Sony doesn't have an over-abundance of lenses to choose from, but that is over-shadowed by the fact that with an adapter, you can use other brands. I know that the a6300, and now the a6500, are upgrades, and if you can afford them, maybe you should look at them. But I truly believe this camera, for about half the price, is more camera than I'll ever need!

Love this camera, the only thing that would make this even better is if the screen swung out to the side instead of just popping out a little. Great customer service and suggestion as well, I went in with one thing in mind and came out with something even better. I take more sports action photos than anything so the video feature as well as the shutter feature that has multiple speed options is what really makes this a game changer from what I originally wanted.

We bought this camera intending to use it for catching our kids (who are all in high school) in action. We were looking at the Nikon and the Canon Rebel, both comparable in price to this one. But then the sales person (from a different department at Best Buy) who happened to be a photographer in his spare time, told us to look at the Sony. we previously had a Sony DSL camera and were happy with it, but it was at least 10 years old and was showing it's age. We were impressed with this newer camera. It was a bit more in price, but well worth it. I was speaking after our purchase with a friend at work and he also had this model and absolutely loved it.
