I've had Olympus and Nikon in the past, point & shoot to DSLR's. This camera by far is much easier to use and has never disappointed with the quality of my shots. I'm not looking at adding the Alpha 7R to my bag. Well worth the price charged in my opinion.

I recently purchased an open-box of the a6000 from BB, $479 with kit lens. This is my second a6000, the first is the silver body. I also own a Sony a7 and alpha 77. I bought the a6000 mainly as back-up for my a7. But, I've found that I'm using my a6000 more often. Because of the fast AF, I'm able to shoot moving subjects with ease. The AF tracking is a great feature I might add. Don't get me wrong, I love my other Sony cameras, but the a6000 is my go to. With the $479 open-box price, I couldn't pass up the deal. If you're looking for a great all-around camera and you don't want to lug around a DSLR, look into the a6000. It has the same features but in a small body.

First and Best Compact System Camera

This camera is a great piece of equipment. I almost purchased the NEX-6 and saw that this came to my Best Buy store when I decided to make my purchase. It's essentially the same camera as the NEX-6 just with bigger specs. Lots of accessories to choose from and the camera itself is very easy to handle, even with bigger lenses on it. I purchased the bundle with the 50-210mm lens and cannot complain. I'm very happy with my purchase and looking forward to using this camera often.

    Absolutely stunning photos!

This camera blew me away. Let me start by saying I'm a professional wedding and portrait photographer and all of my equipment is Canon. I still love all of that gear, but there's a time a place for it, and my trip to Greece was not that time or place. While I was traveling, I wanted to feel light and free -- I didn't want to be weighed down with heavy lenses and a big camera body. But, I still wanted to come home with stunning photos that captured the experience. I tested this camera for a weekend before I left, and felt confident that it'd do a good enough job. It surpassed all of my expectations! I kept this gem on the auto setting with the kit lens on 80% of the time (I know, I know -- really professional right? Hey, I was on vacation!) and I couldn't believe how amazingly accurate the exposure was every. single. time. This thing knows if you're shooting a landscape, people, action, whatever it is, and it picks out the best settings for it. The handful of times I wanted to shoot at night, or get more creative with what I wanted, I'd just switch it over to manual and get what I needed. And the sharpness! So, so sharp. I'm a pixel-peeper and I have no complaints. Also, the auto-focus is lightning fast, and the focal points were almost always spot-on. The viewfinder is another plus, not only because it helps take better photos, but it allows you to turn the LCD screen off, saving battery life. I've been raving about this camera to anyone that'll listen. For travel, landscape, everyday photos at home, you can't beat this camera. If you're on the fence, just go for it. You won't be disappointed!

    Super Fast

I was searching for a camera mostly to take to Disney world, nothing to bulky but something that would be super fast to capture all the moments with my kids who are never still. I read endless reviews. I tried the canon GX9.. too small. wasn't that impressed. Didn't have all the features I wanted. Then I was tossing around the Sony rx100 IV but it was so much money for a pocket camera but it had many features I wanted esp the partial color. I also like the Nikon 5500 DSLR. (which also had the partial color feature but more then one color and other then primary colors) But too bulky for Disney so was considering that an eventual purchase. Went to the store to get a better feel and the guy at the store was soo very helpful and saved me money! He explained everything about the Sony rx100 IV and I then showed me the a6000-it would do everything I was looking for-basically the 2 camera combined and compact. He said it was FAST. He also explained about the app I could download to get more of the color options I was looking for. I took the camera to Great Adventure to test it out. It clicked away just as promised, tea cups, the little roller coaster for kids and EVERY picture I took was perfect (if it wasn't it wasn't the cameras fault) aside from flipping to sports mode and then to the auto and playing around with partial color I did not adjust anything and there was not one blurry photo. So many awesome shots of my girls on the roller coaster. (Now, I can't speak for very low light or with the flash yet) It has a very good feel in my hand. I am very happy!

I have enjoyed this camera! It's pretty solid but it's not perfect. While not a huge issue the camera requires Sony lenses. Like I said normally this isn't a problem but if you're looking to buy one without ordering it online they'll be a bit hard to find. The biggest issue with this camera is heating. There were several times my camera shutdown due to over-heating. I think the reason for this is you have a camera nearly as good as a DSLR in a smaller frame, so naturally stuff is gonna get hot. Also the proximity sensor near the eye sights is too sensitive. You'll find your screen shutting off if you get even a little bit too close. Beside those few things it's a solid camera and it takes great pictures!

I picked this camera as a gift for my fiancée for her birthday. It's the first mirrorless camera I've used and I have to say I was impressed with the images. I is a little small for my hands and they don't have the big lens selection like Canon. The Sony does have a killer iso range, but when kept in auto when it's not sunny the pictures will be very grainy.

Great features in a portable size

I have used a DSLR (Canon T1i) and a couple compact ILC's (Panasonic Micro 4/3 and Nikon J1) and this Sony a6000 is a nice blend between the DSLR performance and compact ILC portability. I originally started with the Sony a5000 because of its size and reasonable price. I liked the flip-up lcd screen but the performance just wasn't enough. When I saw a great price on the a6000, I returned the a5000 to upgrade. In outside conditions the viewfinder is super helpful and helps keep the camera more stable when framing the shot. Also, the burst mode is great while capturing action shots of my dogs playing. The a6000 is a little bulkier than the a5000 but still feels great in my hand and has a comfortable grip. The lcd articulates so you can take higher or lower shots and use that to frame the shot rather than the viewfinder, but I miss the 180 flip up for "selfies" that the a5000 had. I loved the performance of my DSLR but found it to be tedious to carry around an amusement park and on vacations. My last trip to amusement parks I brought my J1 which was nice and compact but the picture quality really wasn't as great as a DSLR. I'm very pleased with the photo quality in my brief time with the Sony and can't wait to take it on my next trip. The powerzoom lens also makes zooming easy because you can either rotate or use the slider button and it folds down a lot when closed so it doesn't take up a ton of room in my bag. The only downside I see so far is that e-mount lenses seem to be a bit more pricey than for my DSLR and it's a bummer to have to re-invest in a different mounting system.

I am a semi professional photographer that does a lot of retail photography, and I love this camera. Build is great, picture quality is great even with the kit lens, and overall I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. Here are the few drawbacks I have found. The LCD screen is not very flexible so sometime you have to shoot blind (very high for example). No MIC input for video which would have been nice for the price range.
