I had two family members who bought this camera and ever since I saw the quality of their pictures, I wanted one! I had a Sony Cyberhsot before and this is a major upgrade! The pictures and the resolution are great. Totally satisfied with this camera.

With right lighting, It’s great as a webcam. You just need a dummy battery to keep the power on constantly while video chatting. Many pro YouTubers also use this camera as their main camera.

Good photos but NOT a durable camera, Not NIKON

I have had the camera about 6 weeks and the photos are good. It is much lighter than my DSLR camera, HOWEVER it is not a very durable camera. I have used Nikon for 20 years and Canon 20 years prior to that and never had a mechanical issue. I carry my camera in my backpack on trips, hiking in Colorado, multiple trips out of the county and no problems with my Nikon SLR or lens. I took the A6000 to Italy and it fell 3 feet of a table and no crack in the lens or difficulty replacing the lens, with good click, but the camera does not recognize the lens and the Academia in Florence the lens froze and was not functional the rest of the trip. So I used my iPhone 6 for photos the rest of the trip. I admit it had some trauma but I never had an issue with NIKON . I am pleased with the quality of pictures and , my lower rating is due to poor durability . Get a replacement warranty

This is a great camera for someone who wants more than a simple shoot and click but doesn't want the hassle of a sophisticated DLSR. It doesn't fit in a pocket, and dealing with the lens cap is a hassle. But the quality of the photos is worth it to me for the terrific family photos.

    Near Perfect Camera

For me, the A6000 is the best value at the price point. The megapixels, the control features, the size and weight, and the speed all make this the near perfect "walking around" camera. Are there "better" cameras? Yes. Full frame sensors will beat beat the A6000 in image quality, but usually at twice the price. My only complaint so far is the placement of the video record button. Too often, I accidentally hit the button while shooting. It's a simple matter to just half-press the shutter button and the warming message disappears from the screen, but I find it disruptive and it takes me "out of the scene."

Great camera until lens was not recognized

We've had this camera (along with the telephoto zoom lens) for over a year now. We've taken thousands of great photos. The camera is relatively small and light, fast in low light and works well in auto/manual modes. Unfortunately - as one other person here and dozens online have noted - our camera froze one day when I turned it on saying the 16-50 Sony lens was not recognized by the camera body. I have found no solution to this problem so far and for the last month haven't been able to use that lens at all. I have thus far refused to cough up $200+ for a replacement lens. A total disappointment at this point and makes me advise against recommending this camera.

This camera has a know fault (google “cannot recognize lens. attach it properly”). A month after the warrantee ran out my wife’s camera did this. Sony was not interested, said we had to pay for it to be repaired. For a $600 dollar camera to only last a year is ridicules. We will now be buying a different make that is more reliable and the Sony will stay broken as I do not want to waste any more money on it.

I was so excited to buy this camera but was highly disappointed a few days later. Although the MP is great, the quality is lacking. It doesn't work well in "darker" lighting (I use this term loosely). When I am inside using indoor lights there are these weird black lines that come across the picture, and although the lights are bright, the camera makes it look dark. When it's in natural outdoor lighting it's ok. Now a few weeks later the screen stopped working. I turn it on and it appears for a second but quickly goes away so if I have my camera on a tripod and am trying to record myself doing something I have no idea where it's pointing at. It still records but I cant adjust the angles because I cant see anything. If I try to plug the memory card straight into my computer the files don't some up. The only way I can import files is through the USB. Also to upload to your computer takes HOURS. It's ridiculous. I recorded a 10 minute video and using the importer app it requires you to download literally took almost 2 hours. This has happened several times, it wasn't just one occurrence. I ended up importing my files directly through iMovie when the cameras plugged into the USB, but I can only do that once then the files disappear form the import tab, THAT way is quick, takes a few minutes. Some of them upload as corrupt though and since I can't re-upload them, I have to use that importer app through the USB and wait hours again. I wanted SOOO badly to like this camera, but I've had nothing but issues with this camera and I'm over it. I'm returning.

    Loved it until it died

I used to love this camera, it is 14 days out of warranty and it does no longer work. I researched the issues which turns out to be well known for this model. The shutter is out of line and I keep getting error messages "Turn power off and on", which does not solve the problem. I have to remove the battery, then I can take another picture, then I get the same message again. There are plenty videos on youTube that address that issue, no repair shop I have called will even touch those kind of cameras, and what I see from other owners is the fact that Sony knows about it, but charges about $400 for a shutter replacement. As long as the camera work it took excellent pictures, was easy to use and the battery life was pretty good. I purchased a different neck strap. I am still debating if I buy just a body of the same kind or the next model or if I sell the lenses and give up on Sony. When purchased the camera it was nearly $1,000. I can get a body for under $400. Don't know yet.

It's a great camera for anyone who wants to learn photography, without breaking the bank. Sure, this camera was released back in 2014 but it still has all the basics you need, besides shooting videos in 4k.
