Using this camera for all of my travels and I couldn't be happier! Great size, great quality. I did extensive research before buying this camera and I am positive this was the best option (in this price range). Save yourself some time and simply buy this one if your looking for something small and want better quality than the point and shoot cameras.

Great Camera With A Minor Issue

I purchased this camera right before the birth of our daughter. We had never owned a true camera before this. My wife and I watched hundreds of YouTube videos in search of a great camera for beginners. We were up in the air between Nikon and Canon when suddenly, the mirrorless cameras showed up in the video feed. We ultimately chose the Alpha for the following reasons:
1. The Alpha is a bit smaller than the traditional DSLR cameras that we saw. There isn’t a huge difference but it’s just enough for my wife’s small hands.
2. The electronic viewfinder shows real time adjustments to your picture.
3. Sony has a lens adapter system that allows for use of lenses from other brands.
There are two issues when it comes to this camera:
1. Occasionally the camera will just shut off. I thought it was an attempt to save power but it does it randomly. Sometimes the viewfinder thinks you are close to it so it switches the main screen off and kicks over to the viewfinder, causing it to appear that the camera has shut off. This is not the same issue. I have to actually turn the power off and then on again.
2. The battery life is not as good as other DSLR cameras. Mainly because the Alpha relies on the big screen, as well as a digital viewfinder. These require high power use. Be sure and purchase some extra batteries and a charger.
Overall we are very impressed with the hardware and the software of this product. There is a lot we still need to learn but this camera makes it fun to do.

I have been researching this camera for a long time prior to purchasing it and I had finally made the plunge to buy it. I got lucky to find an open box that was barely opened but I am amazed by the camera. The picture quality is amazing, there are so many settings and options given. The video is equally as excellent. I have taken it on small road trips, normal outings, to family party events and wasnt dissapointed at all. Theres so many options in manual and in the settings that make this great for any occasion really. The only thing I was dissapointed about was not being able to take it into a concert with me (I thought it would be small enough to take in) as it is not as large as normal dslrs. But it depends on venues. I still love it. Its fairly light and I love the way it sits in my hand. Cost is a bit up there but not nearly as much as other dslrs you'd be paying for that give the same or lesser results. Don't regret my purchase at all!

I have a terrific Nikon DSLR, but when traveling by air with all of its luggage limitations, I was looking for a smaller camera and kit. This Sony mirrorless fits the bill. I was aware of it prior to purchase because my nephew owns one and sings the Sony’s praises regularly. The quality of his photos is outstanding and I’ve found that this camera can even help one improve shots given its simple and smart operation. I’ve been the owner of a number of cameras over the years - starting with a Kodak Brownie when I was 7! - and this camera is a match for the Nikon, Konica, Minolta and Olympus kits I’ve used. Given the Sony’s price point, the mirrorless is a great addition to the gear of anyone who enjoys photography. Try it out and you’ll make it your regular traveling companion.

Great camera for the times you want DSLR quality and speed without the size and baggage. With the 16-50 kit lens this makes for a very compact fun to shoot package. It may be an older model but it is an incredible value for all that it can do. Battery life and good lightweight compact lenses are probably the only real drawbacks to this platform. Got a great deal on an open box and have zero regrets.

The Alpha 6000 is an amazing camera. Since it is a mirrorless camera it is smaller than most dslr cameras yet the the quality of the photographs meest and often exceeds most cameras. The a6000 can take puctures at a blazing fast 11 frames per second and has the worlds fastest autofocus at 0.06 seconds. The advanced features, professional photography output and irresistible price make the Sony Alpha 6000 the camera to buy.

After doing hours of research, I decided to purchase the Sony A6500 Mirrorless DSLR. Having learned to shoot on a 35mm in traditional film, I enjoyed using more simple digital point-and-shoot cameras as a way to document my travels. Several years back, I used a Canon Rebel DSLR to shoot some terrific images while abroad, and I had intended to stick to the Canon brand in my camera search. When I narrowed my final choices down, it just became clear that the Sony A6500 had far more features and advantages over the Canon equivalent. It's taken some time to get used to the interface, and the lens zoom of the Sony A6500, but I'm very happy with the photos and and the compact size of the camera. Sony lenses run a bit pricey, but I expect to build a small collection of lenses soon. Additionally, a small and inexpensive adaptor can allow me to use some of the manual focus minolta lenses that I used when I was shooting 35mm.
