There's much to learn in order to get the most out of this camera, but if you're patient, you'll be amazed at the beauty of the images you will take with the a6000. Its easy portability makes me want to take it along wherever I go and just snap away! Kurt and the camera department guys were a tremendous help and were patient with my myriad questions during my many visits to the West Little Rock Best Buy looking for a camera to transition from "point and shoot!

I love love love this camera. Sony A6000. I'm a beginner with using these types of camera. It's easy to understand & have lots of tuturial videos on utube on how to go more in debth & how to use all the additional features. I'm so happy I made this investment cause it's so worth it. It takes beautiful, clear, vibrant, pictures which saves me from spending lots of money talking family pictures at a studio. I did a lot of research prior to making this purchase & I don't think I could have made a better choice

The A6000 allows you to capture some great images and allows for a good deal of artistic freedom. The shots you can take are incredibly clear if sufficient light is available (we're talking clarity down the individual hairs). Additionally, being able to use your smartphone as a remote is pretty cool. That said, it does have some drawbacks: 1) It is not the greatest at low light situations (unless you use the flash); 2) When using the multi-frame high speed shot mode, the auto-focus has trouble keeping up; 3) The menus are a bit cumbersome to use (or at least take some serious getting used to); 4) the Sony-specific lens situation might be a problem for some (but I don't have the kind of change to toss at the highest end lenses anyway); and 5) It's not weatherproofed or shockproofed.

I shoot mostly in raw, but found the jpg images from this camera were usually better, cleaner images. The new ligthroom 5.4 improved the raw results, but jpgs still tended to look better, DxO also released a A6000 update about the same time which helped the raw image results. So be sure to use the latest software for editing. Overall I found this a very comfortable camera to carry and shoot. However, I did not care for the menu driven functionality. I am use to more direct button control on my Canon cameras, but I expect you could remap some of the controls to get more direct control of critical functions. I was using a Tamron 18-200 lens most of the time, which seemed slow to focus, but was usually accurate even in low-light. It proved a good universal lens for most subjects. It did not seem to track fast moving objects like birds well, but did follow people and vehicles. In summary, I liked most of the the camera qualities, but not the excessive menu orientation. It would be great for hikers and climbers with a prime or wide-angle zoom attached. I didn't care much for the Sony 55-200 results on my A6000 body. The 16-50 gave very good results for a kit lens. An increased range of lens from Sony would also, help although you can get a converter to use other lens brands.

I was in the market for a DSLR but wasn't sure about the size and weight. This mirrorless camera gives me a lot of the benefits of a DSLR with less weight and bulkiness. I can change out lenses and use filters, and it has a lot of the easy photo features of a point and shoot camera. I'm still learning how to use all the features of this camera but so far I am very happy with the photo quality. I was lucky enough to be able to participate in a photo workshop at the Best Buy that I purchased my camera and that helped out a lot. I will be purchasing a telephoto lens in the next week to extend my photo options.

I'm no pro, but the Sony Alpha a6000 makes me feel like one. The controls are easy to learn, but I do suggest you poke through them if you want to be quick. Picture quality is fantastic. I use this for work and play and always get insanely good pictures. The kit lens is fine, but do keep in mind the cost of lenses if you want to do more than what your kit lens can do. The e-mount isn't something many others use, so lens cost tends to be a little higher (Sony is about the only company that makes it) and the selection is limited, comparatively. I can't recommend the camera enough, though. It's awesome.

Nice mid-range addition to Sony Alpha range of mirrorless cameras. 24mp resolution combined with most functions of a full blown DSLR (like Alpha A77II). Great picture quality, full 1080 video, fast focus (after FW update), WiFi and NFC connectivity. A number of decent shooting mode downloadable apps, like Passport photo, which atomatically takes right size photo you can print for $0.20 at your local drug store. Sony PlayMemories Mobile app is a great addition. e-Mount lenses are a bit expensive, so that may be a big minus for the people that are just considering getting a mirrorless camera.

The Sony A6000 mirrorless camera is a perfect step up for the experienced amateur who wants to control aperture and speed or simply "point and shoot." Using interchangeable lenses is a change for me from a simple zoom. The 24 MP and APS sensor size is comparable to larger DSLRs. Because the A6000 is mirrorless it is very compact. The only minor criticism that I have at this early point of my usage is that some of the on screen text is rather small. Also the auto focus takes time to get used to. If the subject is moving the focus will take time to register. Overall I really like size, features and pictures.

This camera is a great easy to use camera with the versatility of a DSLR. The picture quality from someone who is still learning all of the functions of a mirrorless camera is excellent. We have a DSLR Sony and a Nikon which are both good cameras but not as portable as this little gem. For the size and weight of the body, it's a good traveling camera. We will order a macro lens and possible a longer distance lens, but the camera is fine just out of the box.

Even though this camera has been out for some time, it still is a great camera for any beginner or anyone for that matter. The controls are easy to get used too and it also allows you to customize the camera to your liking. It is light weight and compact to take every and still powerful enough to take stunning photos and video.

After trying DSLR by Canon and Nikon I chose the Sony because of size and quality of pictures and features. It has a great EVF that changes from display to viewfinder when you put your eye against it. This is so much handier that having to press buttons to do it like most other cameras. It is so fast that I took several photos of my wife and her eyes were closed because she blinked. I adjusted almost all of the settings to my tastes. Don't get discouraged at first if your photos don't look just like you want until you check through the menus and set things the way you want them. I am very happy and like the light weight and smaller size for carrying around on trips. I do recommend you get a step up filter ring and use a 49mm or bigger on the kit lense because a 40.5 mm UV filter is almost impossible to put on without a lot of tedious work. I bought one when I purchased the camera and found out the hard way. I had some step up rings and used a 40.5 to 52 mm ring for a 52 mm UV filter I had . Glad I kept my old filters. It works great. Use your old filters just buy step up rings for a few bucks each online. Overall I am very happy with all the features and the great picture quality of the A6000 and highly recommend it.

Honestly, I can't really say too much about how the a6000 stacks up against other cameras since this is my first camera that isn't an iPhone, lol. After using it for a bit over three weeks I am certainly not disappointed. It takes great pictures, is nice and portable, connects to your phone via wi-fi (the iPhone app is not the best and is a bit glitchy) and just looks great! The only real negative with the camera is the battery. It uses these tiny NP-FW50 batteries that last like 40 minutes and are stupid expensive ($60). Anyways I picked up the unit open box for $350, but funny enough the Best Buy I purchased it from could not locate the unit in their inventory so they sold me a new unit for the open box $350 price! This was fantastic since right now it goes for almost $700. Anyways, I would wait for a sale before purchasing it because it is an old camera that came out in 2014 and I would not be able to justify paying the same price that it was when it came out.

I did a ton of research before buying this camera. I was thinking about the Nikon 5300 or a camera with a full sized sensor. I'm not a pro photographer, nor do I need to capture shots of animals in the wild. I mainly wanted something that would take great pictures of two very energetic, fast-moving kids. This does the trick. In low light or fast action situations this camera blows away my old Sony point and shoot camera. It also does great portraits with pretty incredible bokeh. I put it on burst mode, fast shutter speed, tilted the screen down, held it up and held down the button as my kids were whizzing by in a roller coaster. It captured about 20 perfectly focused, sharp images in about 2 seconds. It sounds like a machine gun firing, and I got several great pictures capturing some priceless facial expressions. This is a great camera, and with its size and weight I can definitely carry it around all day with no problems

I am used to use large DSLR (Nikon) so the smaller size of A6000 is a nice change. Outdoor photos are great and the electronic viewfinder is the main reason to get A6000. Panorama is easy and results are so effortless. great indoor photos are a little harder to get especially in more challenging lighting. To me A6000 was slightly noisier camera than the typical entry level DSLR. Quick focus was a very nice surprise though. I took away one star because of the noise in high ISO shots, which are much better than produced by its older sibling NEX-6. Overall very good camera, wish there was better lens selection for it and the kit lens was better quality.

Compact, light, easy to use and versatile. I owned a Nikon D 90 DSLR for years. The camera failed and it was less expensive to buy a new camera than have the old one repaired. The Alpha A6000 produces images that surpass my old Nikon in clarity and depth of color. I have had the camera for about 5 weeks and really enjoy it.

super fast, the autofocus insane quick, I compared it to a camera double its price in another brand, the a6000 was not only smaller and lighter but faster in both fps and autofocus, I mean 179 autofocus points, look it up, there is no other brand dslr even close to that not even a little close. closest I had seen was 39 autofocus points.

I had a Nikon D7000 and was frustrated with its video ability. Bought the A6000 and couldn't be happier. The Nikon focuses slightly better but the A6000 blows the Nikon out of the water for video. Also, the Sony is so small and light. I stuck with DSLR for a long time because I thought the optical view finder is much better than an EVF, but this Sony's EVF is so good I have no regret. I would say the overall experience is equal to a decent DSLR but it's much more compact and the Sony beats all DSLR for video.
