Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the camera's quality, ease of use, and compact size and weight, making it a convenient option. The camera's 4K capabilities, low light performance, and fast autofocus are also well-received. However, customers are negative about the battery life and overheating issues, especially when shooting video, and some find the menu system difficult to navigate and would like a touch screen.

I got this camera for video and here are my pros and cons. Pros: 1. Amazing image quality, it seriously does downscale from 6K to 4K, very sharp and detailed. Almost too much for my 1440p screen. The video quality matches very close to the FS7 when using SLOG 3. That's amazing for the price. it also shoots at the super 35mm focal length which is also found in many cinema cameras such as the FS7. 2. SLOG 3, this camera has an SLOG 3 profile which means you will get cinema camera type dynamic range, 13-14 stops. I usually record in my room for YouTube videos and all of my lights are clearly visible and not blown out. 3. 1080p mode has some of the least amount of rolling shutter I have ever seen. Its almost as if its not even there. Especially when recording in 120FPS. I did a really fast pan from right to left and I couldn't notice and rolling shutter even when slowed down. Its almost global shutter like. Cons: 1. Rolling Shutter in 4K 24FPS is A LOT. When using 4K make sure to be in a somewhat controlled situation and not moving about too much. 2. Overheating is very present in my model in 4K, even when starting and stopping recording the overheating sign comes on. I was able to record 30 minutes of straight 4K and it shut off, then I had to wait for it too cool down. 3. This is my second a6300. The first one had a sensor problem where I was recording for 10 minutes and my whole screen turned into a purple haze color. This was also baked into the footage when I took it back to my computer. I recommend getting this camera for video if you are doing YouTube videos or are in controlled situations. But get the GH4 if you are doing professional run and gun paid videography work. Since it is more reliable.

I had a Sony Nex for many years, and upgraded to the a6300 and haven't been disappointed at all. Amazing image quality, great price, nearly all the functionality of the A7 series, but much easier on the wallet. Could use all my old lenses, but picked up some new ones as well. Very versatile, I have also, with adapters, used Canon, Minolta, and Olympus lenses on the camera with spectacular results. Shot the eclipse last with a Canon 400 mm FD lens. Could not be happier. And don't even get me started on the low light capabilities or 4K video.

I've had this camera for about 5 months now. I've used it to take photos of friends and families during birthdays, social events, and the holidays. I've used it for work to take professional looking photos and update our company website. I've also taken it with me on a hike to take photos of landscapes and anything else in between. I'm not by any means a professional, but I've taken it with me anywhere I could. If you don't really want to read further, I'll just simply say that it's an amazing piece of camera that's replaced my bigger Canon DSLR system. Although of course, it isn't without caveats. The most popular one is its battery life. A fully charged battery does not last very long. It's very unlikely that a single charged battery will get you through a day of shooting. I purchased 2 additional batteries or shoot while charging on an external battery. However, I believe this issue should be understandable. The size of this camera limits the battery size that can be used on this body. With all the technology packed into this body, I strongly believe that the battery life is pretty good. I have no problem compromising the battery life if it means that I can use this piece of technology to capture great photos. When it comes to ergonomics, I'm not a complete fan but I'm satisfied. The grip is a little small and I think the A6500 actually have it right. After purchasing the lens, I immediately installed a leather bottom half case cover and it bumped the grip a little - which is nice. Learning to navigate the Menu will also take some time getting used to if you're coming from a different camera system. With that said, the great things about this camera far outnumber its issues -- I mean, just look at the specs! The number of AF points is ridiculous for this price point. Paired with its Electronic View Finder, you're able to see what your image will look like before you take it! The EVF is easily one of the reasons why I will find it difficult to return to DSLR. ISO and dynamic range is excellent for this price and easily jumps ahead of its similarly priced DSLR counterparts. Especially since the a6300 is capable of recording 4K. Its low light capabilities is also very impressive. However, I do not have many experience with videogrpahy as it's not what I use this camera for. The a6300 will do what you want it to do if you pair it with the right lens and will do so with excellent results. Yes, it is an APS-C camera, but it is a very good one.

The photo quality is amazing. Camera is easy to use. The 4K video is very good. Actually amazing. Only drawback is the well known overheating problem when recording 4K video. It has not been a problem for the videos I do on YouTube though.I am able to get between 30 and 40 minutes of 4K video before it overheats and shuts down. I imagine most people won't need this much record time. Also note there is a way around the record time limit Sony puts on the Sony Cameras. Videos can be found on YouTube on how easy it is to unlock unlimited recording. I unlocked mine and it's great not having to worry about that factor. At least until it overheats. Overall such an amazing camera. Seriously the quality of the sensor is amazing.

I have been very impressed with what Sony has brought to the table with the a6300 camera. The size, features and quality of images you get from this camera are only capable from a more expensive DSLR unit. The a6300 is nit as bulky as my Nikon DSLR so I find myself taking my camera more often when I go out. The camera is 4K HD capable and the professional features available for film formatting is second to none. If you are wanting pro looking family/travel videos you can't go wrong with making the investment in this Sony a6300.

One of my favorite cameras to take while traveling. I purchased a Sony 18-10mm f/4 G to go along with it, and it is definitely my go-to travel lens that is perfect for landscapes and shooting nature. Wanted a camera that was light weight and easy to carry around on hikes, the a6300 fits the bill perfectly. I also use as my backup cam with shooting weddings, and it has done well. Highly recommend if you are looking as a 2nd camera or a light weight travel companion.

This is my step-up camera. I have a Nikon P520 that was my starter camera for reintroduction to photography. I bought it knowing I'd move up, but not before becoming a better photographer. I have, and after researching the 6300, bought it. I have no regrets. It's easy to travel with and takes great shots. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is why, at times, it refuses to shoot. The pictures are great, though, the hot keys are wonderful, and I am enjoying the immediate uplift through my cell phone.

I had a 7dmark 2 before I bought this. I normally photograph wildlife but mostly birds and the 7dmark 2 is great for that. I got the Sony a6300 because I wanted something light for just everyday walking around. This gives me the best of both worlds.

I took this compact yet solid camera which felt great in my large hands. I was able to conceal it and shoot from the hip, literally, with its flexible rear LCD viewer. Extremely fast shooter, some 10 frame per second. I mostly used the medium speed mode. Finally, the battery gave me some 10 hours of shooting, viewing and deleting pics and it doesn't require to take a battery charger along! My half and full frame SLRs are in for a fierce competition next time I pack my bags!

This is a great camera for taking pictures and short videos. It has fast auto-focus and pro features which allow any professional to tweak things how they see fit. I'm very pleased with this camera and have used it on multiple occasions (i.e. film projects, event photography, travel). The one downside I found with this camera is overheating. When recording 4k video for longer than 12 minutes an icon appears and shuts the camera off automatically to protect it. As someone who shoots video for events this means this is not the camera you can just set up and leave recording in 4k. There are work arounds that I have seen online such as cooling the back of the camera with an icepack inside a plastic bag. I haven't tried it yet but it seems to fix this problem. Otherwise, a perfect camera for my needs.

This camera is everything you loved about the a6000 and then some nice upgrades. The fully magnesium body makes it noticeably heavier in hand, the port cover has been changed to a more durable design, and it has 4K internal video recording and 120 fps slow motion recording at 1080p. I will say this body get hot when recording 4K video and when use in extreme weather situations, but I haven't been unable to use it or gotten any overheating yet, but it may be an issue if you are using this primarily for 4K video.

The resolution id terrific. The camera size is great for travel. Frankly , I get a lot of people asking what camera it is. This is another fabulous Sony product. My only regret is that I didn't wait another month and order the new a6500 because I know it will be even better. Though, I am currently more than satisfied with the a6300! My recommendation: Buy the a6300!

I am happy with my choice. Did a lot of research and comparisons. Decided to go Sony but didn’t want 5000 series or wanted to spend money on 7000 series. This was the perfect median. The app works well with the camera too. I like to produce videos and do shoots.

I've had the camera for approximately a month now and I'm 125% satisfied. I love the small form factor. I thought about trading up to the A7ii for the full frame sensor but decided to keep the smaller APSC crop sensor a6300. If there is a negative it would be the cost of lenses. I have lenses from my Nikon that I've adapted for use with the a6300. Although it requires me to use manual focus it's not a problem because of the focus peaking feature of the a6300. If you're considering a small form factor camera WITHOUT the miniature sensor found many cameras of its size this would be a great option to consider.
