Excellent upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Transitioned from Nikon to Sony several years ago and had been using the A7RII since it was introduced. Whit the recent sale price of the A7RIII plust the trade in bonus Sony does twice yearly (traded in a Nikon mount Tamron lens I had on hand, not the A7RII which can sell for greater) allowed the upgrade at a modest cost. Very impressed with the A7RIII as have made several improvements plus announced some firmware upgrade for next month. Menu has been expanded and haven't been able to try some of the new features like pixel shift. Debated between the A7III and the A7RIII as each have their strengths, but I am use to the large files of the 42MP sensor so stayed with the R model.

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.If you are choosing between a7iii or a7Riii and the huge MP is a decision factor, choose a7Riii! I was in doubt too at first but after using it a couple of weeks, I never regreted my decision. I thought 24mp is sufficient enough too but the huge megapixel count is great for recropping image and maintaining image quality. I can make different compositions from a single image. If you are worried about post processing being sluggish due to a bigger file size from this camera, don't worry, it's almost the same. I even use an outdated 2014 model laptop for post-processing and still have no problems with speed.

Great fast AF camera

I ended up to upgrade to a7riv because of the eye af with video. But it will be still great camera if you don’t take professional videos.

I am a Sony Professional photographer. Despite the new cameras out on the market this still remains top of the list. The amazing resolution of this camera is a bit overwhelming for a system that is not set up for handling the large files. So if you aren’t running a system with at least 32gb of ram and a large storage device. While this maybe overkill for the average person it is a nice tool to have in your kit.

Great upgrade for advanced photographers

Best High Megapixel Mirrorless

Of course there is the great debate about whether or not the a7iii is as good as the a7r iii. If you are a hobbyist or shooting family and kids, I would recommend buying the a7iii and putting the extra $1000 toward the Sony 70-200 G Master F4 or F2.8. I would also recommend the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 E lens. If you are shooting fast action sports, I would opt for the a9.
