I got a great deal with a rewards coupon and open box (and some Xmas cash). I like the small size. Simple design. I wont' use streaming services just Blu-ray and DVD. It plays those fine and loads fast for a Blu-ray player. It only has HDMI video and Digital Coax out which is fine because I already had those cables. I hooked it up t a Samsung Plasma and Pioneer Elite Av Receiver. The remote is small but the buttons are well laid out and responsive. It comes with two AAA batteries. It has a small plug and thin power cord. It uses a 'power brick' not a two ro three pronged plug. So I was lucky I had an outlet that it fit on my Monster surge protector. It only has ethernet but wil stream Netflix etc. I hooked it up to a pro NEC IPS monitor that accepts HDMI to set it up initially because that's close to my ethernet Internet connection. It works great. It updated the firmware/software quickly. Easy setup. So if you don't' have a TV or monitor like I do to do initial setup near an Ethernet outlet you might need the step up Wi-Fi (maybe). I just got it but overall it seems like it will do just fine.

This unit worked for a very few minutes, then went into the electronic equivalent of nervous fits. After trying several suggestions, I just boxed it up and returned it. Sony isn't Sony anymore and hasn't been for years.

I love this BD player. I mainly use it for Netflix, but Blu-Ray is the clearest thing ever! Changed my life lol. It says it upgrades DVDs to HD too, but I haven't really noticed a significant difference in picture quality with those. My only complaints would be that it takes a little while to load when you first turn it on trying to detect the internet connection even though it's plugged in directly with ethernet cord (sold separately); and that you can hear the discs rotating when watching a movie. I have a regular Sony DVD player in my bedroom and it's the same thing, very loud. I had to put it in cabinet part of my TV stand so I could close it when watching DVDs/BDs. Overall I would recommend it though, lots of good apps including Playstation Now where you can stream games, you just need to get the controller (and an account). Definitely go through all the settings to make sure it's doing everything you want it to. I rented a BD and it kept saying the device wasn't connected to the internet (for bonus features only, it still played the movie) so I kept checking the network settings and couldn't figure out the problem. I found out later that this is a separate setting and you have to tell it to connect when watching Blu Ray movies, so just double check those.

works as expected, basic functionality, no problems

I looked at Best Buy's website before buying this blu-ray player. I bought it because of the price. It was the cheapest blu-ray player available that also provided streaming media. It doesn't have wi-fi but that wasn't an issue for me since my internet modem is near my tv. The blu-ray player works well. The streaming media player also works well. Media loads quickly and it doesn't buffer. The only downside is that it doesn't have as many channels as my Roku. Still, for the price, I think this is a great device.

Really bad streaming quality and takes forever to load

This player started out well, but within a few months, the player stopped playing Blu-ray Discs. Not mich of a blu-ray player if it won't play Blu-ray Discs.

Due to some damaged boxes on the shelves at Walmart I had to try different models of basic Blu-ray players. I am a "Sony" type guy but tried a "Sanyo" (Cheapo,) then Panasonic at Best Buy. The Panasonic gave a on screen cheapo feel and the remote did not turn on the player unless you rebooted the a/c adapter. I purchased this model online and it arrived in 2 days and the difference between the other two and this one is NO COMPARISON!!! The menu is superior to the other ones and the ability to go back to the place in the DVD where you turned the unit off is superior and for it's low price it reminds me of my old Playstation 3. Very good value... Well done again Sony!!!

I received this Blu-Ray player for Christmas and had a Star Wars marathon before I saw the new movie. No issues at all throughout the 16 or so hours (eating break, bathroom, etc.) It also streams Netflix and other streaming apps, however I haven't tested this, since I do not own a 50 ft. Ethernet cable to connect from router to bedroom. (though it'll likely work well since it REQUIRES Ethernet.) And did I mention you can stream your PlayStation Now games directly to this? It can be controlled by a PS3 or PS4 controller via the USB port in the front. Same as video streaming, this requires Ethernet, therefore I have not tried it. Overall, if you are looking for something to play movies in crystal clear 1080p, look no further. However, this will only output up to 1080p, so you will need one of it's bigger brothers to watch in beautiful 4K.

the unit over heats and shuts down, tech support in India no help only 15 day in store support I was 2 day late

Right out of the box this bluray player was very laggy and froze non stop, returned and got a LG!

Unpacked it and it would not work at all. Sent it back and did not order another

We are very pleased with this Blu-ray player. It was very easy to install and delivers great pictures. The price was good for the features. We didn't need the Wi-Fi, so this model fit the bill.

Exactly what I was looking for .Sony, good price, compact ,works well, cant ask for more.

Bought this as a gift and helped too hook it up. It was simple to do if you knew to get the HDMI cable ahead of time. These blu-ray players tend to not bring one. So far it works great and my family loves it.

I love the smaller design compared to the last time I bought a Blu Ray player. It's simple and easy to use, no wifi, but it is going into a house without wifi. Perfect for my needs.

Sony you never cease to amaze me. This little box has so many options that you can play with and enjoy. The picture that this little box delivers is amazing.
