    Bought a new TV and replaced my old Sony for a new one and within weeks it quit playing and would not turn off. Replaced it with another and within weeks the same thing. DVD stuck in player and would not turn off. Took it back not sure where to go from here!

    Not bad but it has turned off by itself a couple of times

      Please try the following troubleshooting steps, which often help resolve unexpected shutdowns:

      1. Power Reset:

      - Press and hold the POWER button on the front of the Blu-ray player for about 10 seconds until it turns off.

      - If the player does not turn off, unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.

      - Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug the power cord back in.

      - Turn the player on and check if the issue persists.

      2. Test the Power Outlet:

      - Connect the Blu-ray player directly to a different, known-working wall outlet, bypassing any surge protectors or power strips, to rule out power source issues.

    The price was the only part that worked

    Price was right, but didn’t work for what I needed. Product was an open box purchase. It started to play 1 of the DVDs I tried, then froze and wouldn't play any of the next 4 DVDs I tried. Returned about a week later for full refund.

    I Have installed 4 Sony Blu Ray players so far in my life and this one , which I returned would Not even 'talk' to my Sony Smart TV Nothing I could do to Set up ..... at least I could not . IT people and the Bean counters can certainly ruin a Good product .........

    Sony DVD play huge disappointment

    Bought the player, worked fine for 5 days then completely froze with my DVD inside. Tried to reach Sony and, like so many companies, they are not reachable. BestBuy was great at taking it back for a full refund. I purchased another, after 5 days it completely froze!

    Very glitchy

    Menu screen did not fit within TV screen fully. Quit working consistently after one month. Picture cuts in and out and disc gets stuck.

      Menu Screen Display Issue: The menu screen not fitting properly on your TV may be due to a mismatch between the player’s output resolution and your TV’s display settings.       Playback and Disc Ejection Problems: Experiencing intermittent playback and disc ejection issues after just one month of use is concerning. To troubleshoot, please try the following:

      Power Reset: Turn off the Blu-ray player. Unplug the power cord and wait for 30 seconds. Plug it back in and turn the player on.

      Manual Ejection: If the disc tray does not open, turn off the player. Press and hold the "Open/Close" button on the front panel while turning the player back on. Release the button once the tray opens.

    The manager was very rude and gave me the run around even though I explained to her it was unfixable I had to wait 3 weeks to hear I was right in the first place and now this new one doesn't stream on gas Internet.

      The BDP-S1700U does not support native 4K Ultra HD disc playback. While it is an excellent player for standard Blu-ray discs and can upscale your existing DVDs to a higher quality, it lacks the specific internal laser and decoding hardware required to read 4K UHD media. To enjoy your 4K collection, we recommend our UBP-X700 or UBP-X800M2 models, which are specifically engineered for Ultra HD performance.

    I was sent the wrong item . TWICE. And then it was my responsibility to package them back up and return them to UPS. Never shopping with Best Buy again.

    Sony Blu-ray a Bargain

    Our Sony Blu-ray player was an "Open Box" purchase, but had no damage or even an indication that it had been used previously. The unit performs great with excellent video and audio. Definitely worth the money.

    Very noisy while spinning disc. It was loud enough to be disturbing. Unless you're listening to something with a lot of audio or music it's distracting.
