Slightly stupid smart DVD player

In this new Sony's defense, it works at least half the time. The other half: Sometimes it simply refuses to play a DVD it played yesterday. Pop it out, check for fingerprints or grease, find nothing, pop it back in 2 or 3 times, then maybe it'll play. The same with the network connection. We have good fast broadband and the DVD player is only 3 feet from the modem, but half the time it can't connect. Not to Netflix, not to Amazon, not even to YouTube. It tries for five minutes, we give up, pull the plug, repower it, let it reboot, and then MAYBE it'll connect. Or not. Other days it's fine. We'll be replacing this unit soon.
