Main failing - Unlike previous models, when streaming video files from a network server, this model WILL NOT play multiple files from the same folder. If you have ten files in the folder it will play one, And stop. The user interface has been changed to a glorified smartphone display. Very slow to power on, and off. Even when streaming to the player from windows, you can only queue 2 files at a time - any more than that, and the extras will show an error, and not play. An upgrade to a newer model is not supposed to be a downgrade. This unit is being returned ASAP. Since Best Buy has no selection of BD players anymore, I am going to have to get one from a different retailer altogether.

Returning to store, no bitstream output

I have had horrible luck with Samsung players(I have gone through 3 in the last 4 years}so I decided to give Sony a try. Unfortunately this Blu-ray player cannot send a bitstream signal to the receiver. I have a Yamaha RX-V765 receiver and it requires a bitstream signal to decode DTS-HD Master Audio which is a superior format and the one I prefer. The Sony BDP-S6500 cannot decode DTS-HD MA which is unfortunate because I really wanted to see what Sony had to offer.

CONS: remote sucks buttons are hard to press and they all feel the same and therefore i press wrong button alot, it doesnt always save where you left off on a bluray movie, it does not stream actual 4k content from any apps... it only "upscales" 1080p content. Sony claims it makes best players= a fallacy , LG players triumph. PROS: small, nice looking, makes blurays look slightly better.

    Got a lemon

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I will preface this review by stating that I’m pretty sure I bought a lemon, but I wouldn’t have kept it if it had been fully functional anyway. I came in for the Samsung BD-J6300 , but the salesperson convinced me that this one was better and $20 cheaper. When I opened the box I was immediately disappointed. It’s so cheaply made that I knew it probably wouldn’t last a year, little did I know it would quit working less than a week later. Even though it has tons of features, the player seems very no-frills, the graphics look dated, and Netflix kept buffering, something that never happened with my old player. After about a week it wouldn’t turn off regardless of whether I used the controls or pressed the button on the machine. I had to unplug it when we finished using it and that would lead to it prompting me to set up the wifi settings all over again. Definitely not the kind of hassles you want from a brand new player. I took it back and got the Samsung BD-J6300, which I’m very happy with.

Went to BB to buy a 4K blue ray DVD player. I bought this not realizing that this product is not 4K DVD player but the quality of it when I put on a regular Blu Ray was pretty spectacular. I would have kept it but I needed a 4K player henceforth why I took it back.

Picture starts out blurry for first minute or so. Hdmi connector in back seems loose. Kept losing wifi connection so I had to wire direct. This is my second Sony blueray player. The first one had freezing problems.

I thought I was getting a 4k player but this only upscales your Blu-ray to 4k quality. Other than that it's a real good player and has other apps I don't use since my tv has the same.
