Lasted only 1 year and 1 month = no warranty. Very disappointing. It seems you need to be very careful NOT to shut it down after streaming video without first pressing the Home button. Disappointing "Derrick from Mableton, GA on 1/16/2017 I got a 4K blu ray player model BDP-S6500 about a year ago, and now its stuck on the blu ray loading screen. I went through all the steps to reset it to no avail. I contacted product support over the weekend and was given a number to call to get the unit repaired. It would cost me nearly the same amount to buy a new one, if I repaired this one. When I went to buy a blu ray player I chose Sony because I considered it to be a reputable brand. I didnt realize that Sony was in the business of making disposable electronics. It's clear that many others are having the same problem, and this is a sorry response by Sony in dealing with this. It's unacceptable for this thing to be trash after a year. I am very disappointed. My recommended solution is to suck this up to experience, and steer clear of buying any new Sony products.

I will be returning it this weekend for a replacement; however, if that doesn't work I will go to another Brand. For the price, I definitely expected a lot better quality. I've always been a Sony person, but I'm starting to think that I should give another manufacturer a try because a lot more products that are being made by them seem to be poorly made now days.

Also noticed this while playing Netflix movies, very good upscaling to 4K. Unless I have a defective unit, the audio output is just horrible. I've tried all settings, it makes my high end sound system sound terrible. As always, happy with Best Buy. Good prices, great service.

The apps look forever to load and you could not even tell if the player was doing anything. Netfilx once loaded was slow and even took some buffering brakes. Another issue I had was the lack of any external affirmation that the player was playing. Just a tiny green light that said the power was on. Traded up for a Samsung BD-J7500, 5-Stars!

Apparent long term problem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased 12/11/15 and unit worked fine until the last 3 weeks. Unit now totally locks up when streaming both Hulu and Amazon. When locked up the screen freezes, remote is inoperative and front controls on unit do not work. Unit must be unplugged from power source and plugged back in to function again. It would appear from reading in the Sony community this problem has existed for the last 3 to 4 years on many of the Sony models.

I wonder if item manufacture even cost $1.I also try other brand all are the same.

So the receiver will do all the audio decoding of the incoming signal. It seems it does not have that capability. Cannot play Dolby Atmos encoded BlueRay. If no solution i may have to return it.
