The older one was a higher end model. This unit's assembly was easy enough. It works okay, but seems like a cheap design. When the arm starts and returns the unit makes spring type noises. The noises are caused by the simple spring mechanism. The quality/design of the unit seems to be low end. I would not expect the life of the unit to be long.

The only tricky part is the belt setup, but if instructions are followed carefully it is very easy. Depending on distance to other audio components, audio cable may need extension. Overall, as with most previous Sony products, I am very pleased.

It required some assembly but was not too complicated. I wish it had the multiple record feature where you could stack the records and it would continuously load the next record. Oh well. I connected it to my 1990s stereo system but when I tried to connect it to my Bose bluetooth speaker the volume was super low. I hope to figure that out.

Minimal features, but at a decent price point and the Sony brand. Wish the pre-amp had more power. This is the second Sony product purchased online from Best Buy, that DID NOT come within a box. So everyone could see what it was. Suggest maybe having it delivered to store. The first product {AVR} came damaged, and had to be returned.
