I haven't used a turntable since I was 17, digging through my dad's stash of dusty LP's from the 60s and 70s that we just got out of storage in preparation for a big move. I recently purchased a Beatles album for my wife as a present, but we had no record player and I didn't want to pick up one of the many cheap looking portable record players that were positioned around the record display case. I'm really glad that I held out until now, because this turntable from Sony is really very nice. Setup was extremely simple, now that everything has bluetooth. It was almost literally plug and play. I did have to install the belt and platter, but it was simple enough to set on and put the belt around the spindle. I did find the 45rpm record adapter that came included in the box, and, thinking it was one of the feet for the turntable, proceeded to flip it over to figure out where it goes. This caused the platter and belt to fall back off with a clang, clearly not one of my better tech moments. I don't have a fancy stereo system any more, not even a receiver. I do have an excess of bluetooth headphones and speakers, and paired an external speaker to the record player quite easily. I set the album on the platter, hit start, and the fab 4 played loud and clear. Since it was a brand new record and stylus, there wasn't the hiss and crackle at the start of the record that I had been expecting. The sound quality was excellent through my portable speaker. I then paired the turntable to my tv soundbar, and then to an extra set of bluetooth headphones, and each time the setup was a snap. Since the turntable remembers the last 8 devices it is paired to, I can move between playback options without having to pair and re-pair, which is very convenient. I've since taught my 4 year old how to play records, and she loves it. Despite having a streaming music subscription and fully wired, voice-activated everything that will play any song she can think of just by asking out loud, my daughter would rather pull a record out of its case, set it on the player, and turn on the speakers.

This is a nice little turn table. Works With Bluetooth or wired speakers. We connected it to a Sonos speaker, and it sounds pretty darn good! Straight forward assembly and user instructions. Good pricing. Great purchase!

Right out of the box this wireless turntable is easy to set up and looks very clean. It is a good fit for any modern home and the wireless capability is great! The sound via wireless speaker is downgraded a bit with certain records but overall it is a good listening experience. The wired sound is fantastic and clear. I would recommend this turntable to anyone who enjoys listening to records.

Don’t buy open box! Great Player!

I was so excited to get the Sony Turntable and the open box condition stated it was only missing documentation. To my surprise it was actually missing the belt and someone swapped out the actual metal turntable. Another review here stated a concern with people purchasing for parts and with my recent experience I believe it! I exchanged it for a new product and decided to spend the additional amount and I do love the turntable. It plays way better than my suitcase player, the features are fantastic, and it looks sleek. Best buy needs to do better in their inspection of open box products. They are still expensive and the products should at the least come with the OEM parts.

Overall, this is a great beginner or secondary turntable for the money. There's a great realm of features that make it the perfect stepping stone for someone getting into the hobby, which is perfect. Sound quality is very good for the price, and the material quality also satisfies. The platter is aluminum and all the parts appear easy to work on. Including the preamp makes it that much simpler to setup as well. The only reason I knock this one star is due to the cartridge not being replaceable (to my knowledge), which means you're stuck with the same quality for the life of the table. Also, the phono cables are pre-built meaning you're limited to the length of that wiring for any NON-BT speakers. Overall, the player is nice for a secondary location that won't be used at much, or for those looking to play a few records every now and again.

I was really excited about this turntable when I first saw the pictures. Sony does a really good job making this thing look super speak and cool in the pictures but, I was a little disappointed once I actually got my hands on it. Look and feel: If you are expecting a high quality turntable, this probably isn't the one for you. I didn't realize it until I got it but, the entire turntable is made of plastic which definitely takes away from the quality of the turntable. But, again it's a budget turntable. The buttons on the turntable are super clunky and don't feel great. However, the platter and tone arm are both made of aluminum. So where it counts, Sony didn't skip on the materials. The removable dust shield is nice and do like that you can easily remove the entire thing without unscrewing anything. Functionality: As a turntable I think it's better than some but, not the best. It does have an aluminum tone arm and the auto start stop buttons should help keep the record damage down but, the arm does not have adjustable weights so, I could see this arm getting off balance at some point and possibly damaging records. The turntable has RCA output and Bluetooth audio. I'll start with the Bluetooth since that seems to be a key advertising feature. I'm not really sure why you would really want to listen to vinyl over Bluetooth, since that seems to defeat the whole purpose of listening to an uncompressed analog signal but, whatever, you do you. The Bluetooth works well. I had no problems connecting my Bluetooth speaker and didn't have any disconnect problems. The turntable does use the most up-to-date Bluetooth technology so the sound actually sounds really good if you have a high quality Bluetooth speaker. I really wish he turntable had speaker wire output but, the RCA works fine if you have amplified speakers or an amplifier to plug the turntable into. The turntable will play both 33 and 45 RPM records and the auto start stop can be adjusted for both sizes so that you can use that functionality for both size records. The turntable also has the ability to rip vinyl to mp3 via a USB cable, which is a type B USB, not included. The whole process is confusing and not very intuitive. Not do I really see any reason why you'd ever want to do it. Plus, I doubt very many people have a type B USB cable lying around. The whole feature seems like an afterthought and not well executed. I think you're way better off buying the song online if you really want an mp3. Overall, it's a decent turntable with some gimmicky features that I don't think really fit with what a turntable is supposed to be. But, it works so I guess that's a plus.

This is a great entry level turntable. It is pretty easy to get setup and working, and can connect via bluetooth or standard audio connections. On bluetooth you definitely lose some of the sound and feel of true vinyl, but for a newcomer to the vinyl scene this could be a worthwhile trade off since the cost is so low. It does include a 45mm adapter also which is nice.

Its like the '80's at my house all over again. I have several crates of vinyl albums that I haven't played in years. My CD's took over in the 90's, then when MP3's and digital formats took over that was the end of my vinyl collection...until now! This turntable has turned back the clock for me. Its been great sitting down with my daughter and son playing my collection for them. They are amazed at the album covers and inner sleeves and all the cool stuff you used to get when you'd buy vinyl. The Sony PS-LX310BT turntable works flawlessly, and with its Bluetooth capability we are connecting to our various speakers, headphones, and it sounds especially great when we connect to our Sony Soundbar on our TV. I have numerous Sony devices and they keep putting out one awesome product after another, this one is no exception. Thanks, Sony, for bringing my vinyl collection back to life and giving me some great quality time with the kids. If you have vinyl and no way to play it, get this!

    First Record Player

This was my first record player ever, and I’m glad I got this one! It sounds really good! The setup was pretty easy, the only part I was nervous about was setting up the speakers with the wires (since I’m a beginner). But I bought the bundle (turntable, receiver, speakers, and wires), and it had everything I needed! Would definitely recommend buying the bundle for a beginner! Very happy with my purchase

    A great wireless entry-level turntable

This new 310 series takes the older 300-series (USB) and adds Bluetooth, a new tone-arm, an aluminum platter, and some other nice features to warrant the extra coin. Much line the 300 (~$80 MSRP), this $200 turntable is a real bargain. Yes, $200 is a bit of money, but in the audio game it's still very much on the entry-level side of things. For that you still get some nice features and if you're interested in getting back into vinyl or just having a simpler approach to listening this turntable is a great pick. For starts you have wireless and traditional wired connectivity. If you opt for wireless there is a "connect to last device" feature which will automatically connect when powered on. There is a built in pre-amp which means you can get right down to playing regardless of your speakers being active or passive. There are also gain selectors (low, mid, high) which allow you to adjust the volume and levels to your ideal amounts. Yet another nice touch at this price point. Your power and speed knobs are discreet yet very easy to operate as they are nice big circular interfaces that have a nice feel to them. Again, keeping to the simple/minimal approach and (thankfully) not shouting at you "HEY! THIS IS WHERE YOU ADJUST THE SPEED FROM 33 to 45!!!" or "OVER HERE IS WHERE YOU TURN IT ON!!!" All in all, it's a very nice turntable. Easy on the eyes, nothing flashy or fancy, but at the same time the minimal design aesthetic is more up my alley so I prefer it this way. Everything is black on black on black on black, a nice muted approach with no cheap looking chromed bits or other nonsensical elements to distract or anything like that. As far as actual sound goes -- you will enjoy it if you aren't after audiophile level output. This is again an entry-level turntable and if you are expecting "oh my god!" results...you're at the very least going to want to look into upgrading the cartridge. Having said that, if that's what you're after...you probably aren't going to be shopping for this turntable in the first place. :) Easily recommended for anyone wanting a simple out-of-the-box plug n' play experience to enjoy their vinyl with.
