Great service but bad tv

Buy a screen protector for your flat screen TV.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The screen was damaged the 3rd week after I purchase it, very cheaply made. The coverage I purchase from Best buy did not want to repair it. Am still paying for it.

Television
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has some great features. We thought it would be a good tv. It's not a good tv unless you have HD going to it all the time. Blurry if you do not.

Beautiful Picture
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a Sony TV fan, so I was easily swayed to get this TV over a less expensive option. It have a better refresh rate, right size, and VERY light. Couldn't tell if it was in the box, it is so light. It's also a smart TV. Which brings me to the only thing I don't like about the Sony smart TV's. You MUST used a Sony webcam at over $100 for something Logitech sells for cheap (and I have a few lying around the house). But I knew that already since I own another Sony smart TV.

Bad TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The number one complaint I have about this TV is that how slow it is. The remote control sometime goes not work. I thought Sonny was a good brand but since I bought this TV I am reconsidering my opinion. Almost every time I used this TV I regret it. The channel don't change quick enough.

Never Buying any SONY product ever....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do yourself a favor and buy a Samsung.....I was a loyal Sony consumer, got my first flat screen over 10 years ago and still works fine. Never had a single problem, plug and play. However, this SMART generation of BRAVIA is an absolute disappointment. Screen mirror only works with other Sony products/ phones etc, wich I no longer use. This TV takes long to turn on, apps aren't "available" until it warms up or something. Then after you finally hit either PLAY or OK to start streaming it takes you back to TV screen, this happens to me my wife and my daughter, several users can't be doing it wrong all the time. The second attempt does the same, and sometimes even the third, very frustrating. Sometimes have to unplug it and do a hard power shot down reboot. PC style. Most my friends have Samsung products and are surprised when I tell them what SONY does, don't judge Samsung for their price or aesthetics. Just go for it.

Excellent Tv for price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was looking for a replacement to my Sony 42" LCD that required two people to lift and move #it's heavy, and the size was awkward#. Found this TV that is a much larger screen, yet has about a 2" smaller footprint. The price was right for me. So I bought it. Picked it up at the store and was amazed that one person could handle this TV with no problem at all. Got it home and out of the box, and still amazed that I could handle it by myself. Getting the stand mounted was a bit of a challenge. Took me a couple of minutes to figure out the correct orientation, but got it done. Picked it up, and carried it down the hall and put it in place. Got the connections set up. The cord from the power brick to the outlet is a bit short. But from the power brick to the TV is ample. It makes placement of the power brick a bit challenging. The first power up is a bit of a pain. You have to use the manual button on the side of the TV. The remote will not do the first power on. This was a first for me, and made me think that I had a bad unit at first. Once I got it powered on, it ran through the setup and got my wifi connection set up. It will also not select the active input automatically. I had to manually set it. And there was the next problem. The TV menu design has radically changed from other Bravia TV's as much as 2 years old. After setting it up, I needed to make sure that my Xbox One, Sony surround Sound, and the TV all played nicely together. So, I told the Xbox to shut down. It didn't turn off the TV. I grabbed the remote and hit the power button, and it still didn't shut down. So, back to the user guide and found out that the IR sensor is on the bottom edge, center screen. The exact place you would set a center speaker bar if you have a surround sound. I moved the bar, and viola, the remote shut down the TV. A quick check with telling my Xbox to turn on, and it powered up very quickly -- much quicker then my 6 year old LCD Bravia. The sound sucks on this TV. But at this size, most people will have at an external sound solution. The only problem I really have is the placement of the IR sensor which I already discussed. So on to all the good stuff - this thing is very light weight. You will be amazed and not needing a second person to lift this thing up, move it, or position it. The size is incredible. It's marketed as a 48" TV, but in reality, it's slightly smaller screen size. But still, this tv takes up less space then my 42" LCD screen. My old TV was 42", but it had about 2" speakers on both sides, and then another 2" glass bevel all around. All in all, that TV took up over 44" of space. This one is less then 43". It powers on very quickly. On my old tv, It would take about 2 minutes for it to power on. This one, is less then 1 minute. The picture quality is great. The blacks seem to be very black. It has a 60Hrz refresh rate, which is a bit low, but it doesn't seem to be too much of a problem. The picture seems very clear and crisp. I haven't had a chance to really mess around with the settings yet, and I did notice a bit of blurring in fast pace scenes on Blue-Ray. But, I'm sure I can clear it up in settings. There are native aps for Netflix, Hulu, and I think amazon prime. It will also connect to DNLA servers on your local network. A previous reviewer commented on the poor quality of streaming. I don't think this is the TV's fault per say, but more likely a bad Wifi connection, or slow internet speed. I like that this tv has both Wifi and Lan connections. All in all, this is a great 47 5/8th" tv for under $700.

Quit connecting to Netflix & Amazon
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The tv never worked that well. I continually had to refresh internet content to get the NETFLIX and Amazon apps to show up, and most of the time they wouldn't connect to the Sony servers. I use my tv to get movies from the internet providers, and this tv fails miserably.

Best sub $600 TV in the 46"- 50" range.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a TV that had both outstanding picture quality as well great responsiveness for gaming. As easy as that sounds, it is actually hard to find a TV that does both that is not in the higher end TV range. This TV technically belongs in the mid-range, it is better and more expensive than a budget TV, but it is cheaper than a premium TV and as such lacks some of the bells and whistles you see on the latest and greatest: features like curved bezels, motion interpolation (soap opera effect, fake 120 or 240hz), excellent smart TV functionality, 3D, fancy motion remotes, etc. I didn't need that sort of stuff, I just needed a TV with a panel that is both amazing to look at one of the most responsive in its class for games, all while not breaking the bank. Luckily that is exactly what this TV does, which is something that is sort of a rarity. Unlike my LG TV with an IPS panel in my bedroom (IPS panels are touted as having the best picture quality but may not be the best choice for gaming because of their sluggish responsiveness, though this is slowly changing for the better), this Sony TV accomplishes both amazing picture quality with low input lag/response times without sacrificing one or the other. I cannot stress how big of a selling point that is. The TV itself is actually really slim and the basic stand it uses is sturdy and gives off a premium look. Also, it has Playstation Now support. Playstation Now is a streaming service that lets you play Playstation 3 games (and eventually Playstation 1 and 2 games) on your TV with no console required. All you have to do is pair a Dualshock 3 controller to your TV and the app will show up. You have to be a Playstation Now subscriber to be able to use the service, and streaming isn’t perfect, but it’s a neat option with an ever growing library. But let's get into some negatives, as no TV is perfect. First off, I’m pretty sure this TV uses an S-PVA panel. VA panels are much better looking than TN panels while retaining their responsiveness, and even though they come close to the picture quality of IPS panels, their viewing angles simple cannot compare. As with this TV and most other TVs with VA or TN panels, expect to see a gamma and contrast shift when viewing the TV in an angle that is not directly facing you. What that means as the more you view the TV from the side, the colors lose saturation. You’ll notice this as the picture quality starts to look tinted. There is no problem when you are directly facing the TV, but beware if you have to look at it from even the slightest angle. Like I said earlier it lacks some of the bells and whistles of a premium TV. If those matter to you, look elsewhere. It does include Smart TV functionality, but the drawback is it isn’t very good. This is technically a mid-range TV, a lot of TVs in this range have Smart TV functionality just thrown into them because it’s 2015, but they are very slow and lack a lot of features. If you need a Smart TV, I’d recommend going for a more premium model like a Samsung or an LG. This didn’t matter to me because I don’t need Smart TV functionality, at least I didn’t think I did, but lately I have been using it as a media server which plays streamed videos from my computer upstairs and it works wonderfully in that regard. And even if you insist you don’t want a Smart TV, it’s hard to find a 46”+ TV without Smart TV functionality these days, be glad it is becoming ubiquitous since if you ever need to use it, it’s there. Lastly, as is the case with most TV’s, the speakers are a little lacking, probably worse than average. I have to crank the volume to 70-80 to get it to be considered loud, and that’s where it usually stays around. If you have extra money to spend, I’d recommend getting a sound bar. This model is from the 2014 line, which is slowly becoming phased out at this point, so this price is probably the lowest you will ever see this TV. For what you get at this price, it is a fantastic TV and I’d wholly recommend it.. I rate it an outstanding 9/10. This website helped me a lot with looking for TV’s, if you care about the finer details. It goes really in depth. Here is the review of the TV (don’t worry about the score they gave, they rightfully come down hard on every TV): http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-brand/sony/w600b Hope this was helpful!

Great tv for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this is a great tv for the price. I've had no issues with the wifi connection whatsoever, I've been streaming Netflix and there is zero lag. For about the first 20 secs of streaming the picture is a bit grainy but then it normalizes and the picture quality is great. (Personally, I think Samsung offers better color saturation but I wasn't looking to spend $1K). Very easy to set up. The only negative is the sound quality - hence the 4 stars. I have a smart house system so all of the cable boxes run through the whole-house sound system so when watching Netflix the sound comes from the tv not the sound system. The volume has to be at about 65 for it to be loud enough so if you don't have some sort of sound system that might be an issue. At the end of the day if you're not looking to go crazy and spend a ton of money on a top of the line tv I would recommend this tv.

Great TV would recommend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the TV about two weeks ago, was going to get a Vizio M series 50" but changed to this one last minute. I am very much glad I did, the picture quality is great and the menus are very easy to navigate. The TV came with a basic wall mount too which was nice, this is the first TV I have bought in a while and I am very happy with it. Negatives: Would like to be able to add apps to the "discover" menu that pops up on the bottom of the screen. It may do this already but I haven't figure out how if so. There isn't too much purpose in doing it, the apps are very easy to get to, it is just something I would like to do. Also would like to see an HBO Go app added.
