Best choice for the size and price range

This purchase was full of surprises! It beats out the other ones around the same size due to better graphics and the fact that it is a SmartTV. And after all it is Sony, I have always bought Sony electronics and they've never disappointed me. In addition, you can play PS3 games on that TV without a PS3(yea, it sounded crazy, but its true!) and you can control the TV with a PS3 controller if the remote runs out of battery. It is pretty light and the interface is nice, and I feel like you can't get a better deal for the price you are paying. Def would recommend.

Great tv but not as easy to set up. Instruction manual is not clear for a novice in setting up tv. Manual does not break down the different connections to tv and the remote control. With a little effort I managed to complete the set up. I have to say I'm not tech savy. This is a great tv the picture is outstanding much better than the LG I replaced. Sound is not bad but I have a sound bar which is much better. My LG only lasted a year before it died. I hope this one last longer but I bought a 5 year geek squad eartanty. I have to say the people at best buy were great. I will go back when I have to purchase something else.

    Best Picture in Class

If you are looking for a TV in the 46 to 50 inch category for a reasonable price with the absolutely best picture quality available then look no more. This Sony has the most realistic color and sharpest picture available in this price range.Blacks are excellent and the skin tones are very natural. Just look at the display at best buy. Look at the Blue best buy shirts and how they are displayed on the various TV's . Look at Sony and then look at Samsung and LG. All three are good but Sony has deeper richer color without color bleed. I spoke to a number of Best Buy sales people as well as a Sony rep that was at the store. Basically Sony uses a better processor than the other manufacturers. Dont worry about the 60htz refresh rate, true motion makes the picture smooth with sports and movies alike. The thin bezel is elegant and the TV looks great in my home. I paired it up with the Sony XT-1 Sound Plate and its just a fantastic combination for my condo. I wanted a bigger TV than my 40 inch sony and initially boiught a 55 inch JVC from Costco. It was a good TV and an excelent value but the picture compared to my 40 inch Sony was not nearly as sharp and the colors were not rendered anywhere near as acuuratly. Back to Costoco with the JVC and bought the Sony from Best Buy. So the 48 is in the LR and The 40 went to the bedroom.Sound is actually ok out of the box. I would suggest you try it before investing in a soundbar etc..Sony, Sound Plate sounds great however as well and has lots of adjustments. To get any better you would need to go up to a 4k TV and then its really needs to be bigger to appreciate the difference.. As for the hookup to the internet, it works like a charm and was very easy to set up. Streaming movies is no problems and no hiccups using TW cable. you can even have your Facebook news feed on the side while the picture and sound are set up smaller to the left if you want.Fantastic picture, easy set up, reasonable price, useful connectivity to the internet., Blue Rays looks awesome. Add the Sony RM-VLZ620 universal remote , its very simple to use and works as good as those $300 remotes. I know , I have owned both. Guy that bought my house talked me out of my Samsung plasma on the wall and my Harmony remote. Oh well. Hook up the TV to the Sound plate with an HDMI cable. I use monster just because they stay hooked up to the TV and are made well. This enables you to hit one button and turn off or on the TV and the Sony sound bar. Also hooking it up to the ARC HDMI on the back of the TV allows for the sound bar and the TV to be in perfect sync as far as picture and sound. Its simple without running wires everywhere.I like simple.Oh, And no I do not work for Sony or Best Buy . Just add beer and pizza and you are set.

This is everything and more we needed for our medium-size family room. We could have gone a little bit bigger but it wasn't in the budget (moving up from an 32" tube - what a difference!!!) since I wanted to get a nice sound bar and everything. Setup was a piece of cake, and I found some settings online that make the picture look awesome. I put it on a wall mount (not the provided one) at eye level, and although there is some glare from the windows right behind our couch during the day with the blinds open, it's not bad. It works really well with the Sony BD player we already had, so we are very happy with it.

This tv is one of the best tv's I've ever purchased. Out of the box the tv has great picture and sound. I've had to make adjustments on other tv I've purchased in the past but you won't have to do a single thing with this one. Well you will need to do something, sit back and enjoy. Easy to setup up, super light weight and easy to wall mount. This tv is impressive and for the price it's a great deal.

    Great TV

This is an excellent TV. I was originally looking at a panasonic that had a 120hz refresh rate. Even though this tv is 60hz it will blow any cheaper brands 120hz out of the water. 120hz is overkill in my opinion anyways. This TV was right for the price. It was displayed next to a samsung. I noticed how the samsung's ability to transition between different colors or shades pales in comparison to the Sony. Sony is far superior to samsung in just about every way. I would highly recommend this TV to anyone. The picture is amazing and I feel good knowing it's made by such a solid company.

Internet connection OK but very poor Netflix app

I spent some hours between the brands, sizes and quality. I have iMac retina 5K and was going to buy 4k. But this one fit my budget and had good reviews and it's smart tv. Picture quality is greater than the other known top brands. Internet connection is fair. But Netflix app kept shutting down. So I spent almost a day to fix it before bring it back to the store which I really hate. Finally I figured out by resetting the TV. Now it's fine but who knows. So I keep testing most videos on Netflix before I really return it. I just hope it doesn't happen again. And it has a really "TERRIBLE" web browser takes forever loading and can't change the homepage which is sony's. This is really disappointing because I wished to surf the web sites easily on big screen. Pros: big screen on wall when mounted. And Pandora, youtube, and amazon prime video work fine. Cons: BAD Netflix app, WORST web browser. Most useless, unentertaining apps like roku. So think hard...

Awesome TV for movies and PS4

I upgraded to this TV from my old 32" tube TV that weighed 190lbs. I wanted a new TV for watching movies and playing PS4 games. So far I couldn't be happier with my purchase! The picture quality is amazing, the colors are incredibly rich and vivid, the blacks are deep and dark, PS4 video games look incredible, super sharp, rich, there's no issue with input lag whatsoever, the Netflix app works flawlessly. If you're considering buying this TV just get it, in my opinion this is the best TV on the market in this price range.

I bought and returned two other TVs before settling on this one. The good news is that I didn't have to settle! This is a great TV with a wonderful picture, good sound and excellent connectivity. I've owned Sony before and I know it will last. Really good features and easy to setup and learn how to use. And it didn't hurt that the price was right.

A Good Smart TV with a Plenty of Features

First of all, I want to vent a little about manufacturers and their current gimmick about hiding the actual refresh rate of HDTVs. Sony uses the Motionflow XR processing for their products, and as such advertises this TV to have Motionflow XR 240. For someone who hasn't researched this, it is easy to mistake it for a 240Hz refresh rate. Sony as well as other manufacturers have begun to leave the actual refresh rate out of the product details and in some cases the specs. Nowhere in the product details on Sony's site does it indicate that this model has a 60Hz refresh rate. Kudo's to Best Buy for at least displaying it on their site, however it was not displayed in the store. That said, I was shopping for a 120Hz model and walked out with this one. I wasn't too happy at first with the confusion on refresh rate, but have been pleasantly surprised by the performance of this TV. The picture is very good. Watching regular television programming is great, and I don't notice much with motion blur. I notice a little with sports, but not nearly as bad as the old 720p this TV replaced. The smart TV interface is great, and easy to navigate in my opinion. We watch a lot of Netflix, and this TV is perfect for it. The built in wireless works great and is a plus. The sound is meh. Like most LCDs, a sound bar or other speakers will help. I also love the fact that is has 4 HDMI inputs, so there are more than enough HD connections. The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is because of the confusion on refresh rates. There needs to be more information provided in-house to eliminate the confusion. Aside from that, it is a good TV and worth a look.

Yes, I bought another Sony. This one, like the others, has a great picture and was easy to set up. I am considering a sound bar for this model. Sound is OK, but lacking in bass. I think it might be good enough if its not your primary TV. But it's all about the excellent picture quality. You can't go wrong here.

We took a few weeks to search through similar models before going to the Sony. Very glad we did. This is our second Bravia but much newer, bigger, and better. Browse to the very helpful rtings .com site for side by side with LG, Toshiba, Samsung. Then go to BBuy store and watch this one side by side with newest LG smart TV in 48"-class size - I think you'll like Sony. Looking from peripheral vision, I can't see a 60Hz flicker. You can adjust LG to more brilliance than in the store setup, but Sony with factory settings looks nice. Reviewers don't like side-viewing on the Sony, but from side at fairly steep angle I think contrast and saturation still OK. Don't get LG just for the inplane switching and side-viewing. You'll probably spend more time watching the screen straight on, so give that more consideration when comparing models. The standard remote on this TV is very serviceable, but you will like the flexibility of the Android app much better. You have to search a bit through the manual to find a reference to that app. The app brings in your cable provider info -- very helpful to us since we do not subscribe to a cable box with its own programming guide. One user reported problems with dead pixels early on - twice - so I suggest you get the BBuy 2 yr contract just in case.
