Great tv! Very easy to setup and the remote is setup very well which makes it easy to navigate between different features the tv offers. I went into Best Buy to but a 51" Samsung plasma that I saw get amazing reviews on several sites. However, I decided to take a look at some of the LEDs and was very impressed with the Sony and decided to take it. I am very happy with my decision. Great price for a great tv and I highly recommend it.

    Sony makes quality TVs.

I have always loved Sony TVs for their quality products, and this TV is no different and the picture quality is great and the refresh rate is just enough for the purpose that we'd be using.

    TV functions as expected

my expectation when I purchased this TV was not as a high end TV experience. This was a purely budgetary purchase and it functions as I expected it to function for a TV at this price range. You get what you pay for and I certainly have what I expected.

Defintely not as Smart as ROKU

    Posted .

I had purchased a Sharp ROKU TV back in December from Best Buy which I had to return because it had pixels going out. Best Buy was great to work with and offered to have a new one shipped to me OR I could get something different off the shelf. I ended up getting this Sony after the salesman told me that it would support all of the major channels that ROKU does and it also had a web browser (which ROKU does not). Knowing that SONY has always made good products and based on the salesman's recommendations, I decided to bring this one home. After spending 3 hours in front of it I will say it has a better picture than the Sharp ROKU TV but not by much. As far as being a smart TV however, it is nothing compared to the ROKU TV. The navigation is horrible. The remote is complicated compared to the ROKU TV. It does not support HULU which I was told specifically that it would and it DOES NOT HAVE a web browser. Very disappointed with this. If you are looking for a smart TV and have never had a ROKU TV, your probably OK. If you have had a ROKU TV, stay away from this one. It doesn't even come close. It's like a tee-ball team taking on the New York Yankees when it comes to controls, navigation, and usability. It is very possible I may try to see if I can return it and have it replaced with a ROKU TV.

Went in to buy UHD, left with $400 and this TV!

Seldom do I go into any store, especially Best Buy, and spend less than I plan. I fully intended to spend upwards of $900. I saw this TV and I did not realize from where I was that it wasn't UHD. I got closer and thought the price was an error. It turns out it's just a high-quality 1080P. The whites are clearer than any TV they had in stock. The picture is not UHD, though close, but it is really amazing at this price point.

    Looking Good!

Just picked up this TV a week ago and have been exploring the options, which are plenty for me. I have connected a Sony Blu-Ray player, Roku 2XS and an AppleTV3 and all work just as they should. Nice that this TV has 4 HDMI inputs. My other TV is a 19" Sony flat panel, so this is quit a step up for me. I also have the Sony Sound Bar with the woofer which is a nice addition. Watching movies in the late evening (in an apartment) can have it's issues with the sound. One of the sound options for regulating the often high and low volumes in movies is only available via the built in speakers, so I will likely use headphones for late viewing. As for Sony's software updates, if you have the WiFi enabled, the TV will update the software on it's own. I couldn't find an option for manual updates. That said, when my TV updated itself today, a pop advised me that some preferences may have changed. That was the case indeed. I had to rescan digital channels, as I only have over the air antenna, and I also had to reset the time. So unless I'm using the internet options on this TV, I will leave the WiFi disabled. Like this TV a bunch.

    Terrible sony support

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My 48" Sony tv lost all power after less than 9 months. Sony support was incredibly bad, and after long wait times, numerous transfers, and rude hangups I still have not been able to schedule a repair for for tv (still under warranty). Sony reps speak poor English, refuse to transfer calls to the U.S. and then have the nerve to insist I email 3 different pictures of my tv to prove no damage was done on my part before they will send out any repair person. The first agent insisted on this policy on 9/29, then called back later that day to reverse himself and state no pictures were needed. Then 2 days later a different agent says I do need to send the pictures, putting the blame on me for my dead tv. I have now been on hold for 40 minutes waiting to discuss this further with the same overseas agent. WARNING TO OTHERS: THIS IS NOT THE SONY COMPANY OF 20 OR 30 YEARS AGO THAT MADE QUALITY PRODUCTS AND STOOD BEHIND THEM. If you must buy Sony, get an extended warranty from your local dealer. Sony will be worthless to help if any problems arise.

Terrible TV with even worse Customer Support.

I bought this TV 2 months ago and after about 3 weeks of owning it, I began noticing several vertical lines across the screen that are known as "Vertical Banding". So I went to Best Buy and they told me they wouldn't be able to help me because they have a 14 day return policy and it had already been 3 weeks since I purchased the unit. Completely understandable. So then I figured the TV was still under Sony's warranty so I contacted them. That is when my nightmare began. After contacting them over 1 month, spending countless hours on the phone with them, and sending various pictures clearly showing them the problem with the tv, Sony continually insisted that the TV was "Operating to it's normal standards." Now I'm stuck with a TV that is unbearable to watch due to the extremely annoying lines across the screen. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this TV.

The screen is a nice size. Not too big. First 1040p television I have purchased and the picture is great. When I brought it home, there was some bad pixels, but returned it Best Buy and they gave me another one immediately. Great customer service.

I love this product. I financed this tv through best buy and I am truly enjoying the Sony television. I used to purchase Vizio TV's and now I am loving this Sony's hd quality. It is also great for gaming, watching football and movies. Love it. Plus, it's a smart tv, so you can pretty much do anything with it.

    Outstanding TV

With the sale prices this Sony is easily the best bang for the buck in its size class for an LED TV. The picture quality obviously outperforms LG and Samsung or anything else side by side. It is simple to set up, had it unpacked and up and running on cable, DVD, sound system, and internet in less than 30 minutes.

Store misled me, sold open TV as new

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought this TV tonight, as part of an exchange. As the guy was carrying it up to customer service, I asked about the fact that the tape on the box had been cut. He said that he didn't know, and that it was a new TV. When we got up to customer service, I asked the guy helping me whether it was new, since the tape had been cut. He said that it was new because it didn't have an open box sticker, and inside, the remote and power adapter seemed to be in place. I took the TV and went home. After I got home and unpacked the TV, I had trouble getting the stand I looked over the instructions several times, but the holes for the screws didn't seem to align. I also had a friend check it out, with no luck. Checked the service manual for the TV, and it turns out that I was given the stand part for 40" TV, not the 48". Given that the box was opened at the store, it seems that someone switched out the part at some point, for another customer or something, and didn't mark the box accordingly. (This was all at the Hamburg Pavillion, KY store.)

This is a great basic smart TV that is easy to set up and use. I would highly recommend it if you are just wanting something simple and at a reasonable price. This is also a great TV if you are looking for something with several HDMI ports as it has 4 and most others only have 2.

Amazing quality and sound. We had researched buying a Vizeo and when we were in the store this tv was on sale. We spoke to the awesome sales team and learned the differences and realized the Sony was better quality and a great deal! No regrets! I love the smart tv features as well!

Excellent picture, but requires a lot of tweaking. Built in picture presets aren't very helpful. There are better choices at this price point from LG and Samsung, but a Bravia is s must have if you own a playstation. HDMI control makes the entire system controllable through the included remote.

My first flat screen TV, and it's a winner. Sony's picture quality is superb, and there are several HDMI and other ports available. The interface used to select options is a little clunky, requiring a lot of clicks to change widescreen modes, but that's the only negative.

Very happy with the product. Excellent picture. No complains at all. Sound is good for a basic tv however i usually connect it to my home theatre when i need loud bass/effects. For a 48inch Sony within 600$....best value .
