I've been using soundbars for over a decade now and throughtout the years have tried quite a few. With every generation, I've always been impressed with the sounds profile. They've been getting better and better. So when getting this Sony Bravia Bar 6, I was curious on how they where going to improve or do better than my other soundbars. Well, what Sony did was not revolutionary but I think improved on all the little things. Let's start off with the design. The bar itself has a great low profile build, it's a matte black which is my preference. My last soundbar had a shiney finish and my eyes are always catching the glare when everything was turned off. The corners are rounded and the back is flat. Also the 2 input, HDMI EARC and optical. The back has a cutout(?) that you can plug your cables in but still be able to mount the soundbar flush against the wall (there is only 2 inputs btw). The soundbar itself has only a power button, which I'm kinda not liking. I'm old so always want physical buttons just in case something freaks out. It does come with a remote with all your basic functions but to really do anything, Sony expects you to use their app. To set up the soundbar, you will need the app. It gives you step by step instructions on how to set it up and helps calibrate the speaker system to the room you put it in. The subwoofer is a good size, meaning not too large and not too small. The punch it puts out is really incredible for it's size. Speaking of sound, I have a medium size living room, which is where I placed this soundbar, and it did an incredible job of filling room with sound at 50% volume. I have yet to turn it up more than that because the wife says it's too loud, LOL. Although I didn't get that feeling of sound behind me, I felt it everywhere else. The soundbar also is bluetooth capable meaning you can play audio through all your other different devices, but that ain't nothing new. I'm really happy with this soundbar and it being a Sony, I'm pretty confident, this is going to last awhile.

      Hi ScottT,
We're sorry to hear you're not fully impressed with the sound of your HT-B600 right out of the box. That's definitely not what we want for you and it's a great possibility that a few changes in the settings could make a huge difference.

Here are a couple of things you can check right now:

-The HT-B600 usually has several sound modes (like Cinema, Music, Standard, or Auto). Try cycling through these to see if one better suits your content and personal preference.
-If voices are hard to hear, look for the "Night mode" feature in your sound settings. This can help bring dialogue forward.

At its best, this is a great sound system. The bass is full and the sound is rich. However, I am continually finding myself having to adjust the volume to be louder or quieter while watching a movie. This is especially problematic at night as the volume will suddenly be loud during an action sequence and then so quiet you can’t hear well during a following scene. The companion app has an option for Night mode, as well as to limit the variance between the high and low points, but neither of them seem to work sufficiently enough. When I have the audio mode set to cinema, the general sound of everything sounds amazing, but then dialogue is difficult to understand. When setting the audio mode to enhance the dialogue, it works well for that, but then the rest of the audio is less full and rich. When playing the same movie through this soundbar and previous speakers, there’s a noticeable difference in how ineffectively the sound bar handles changes in the source volume. I’m overall fairly disappointed and the problems I’m seeing can likely fixed through a future update, but in its present condition, I couldn’t recommend it.

Hi Alber, It's fantastic to hear that you recognize the Sony BRAVIA Theater Bar 6 to be a great sound system with full bass and rich sound. That certainly highlights its potential, and it's clear why you were drawn to it.

However, we're sorry to learn that you're experiencing those volume inconsistencies. We know that can be frustrating to deal with. Here are some recommendations that can help you:

1- Do a [Test Tone], this is used to check the sound output of the current settings and see whether is being output consistently from each speaker. You can check this by going to the Sound settings of your soundbar.

2- While you're on the Sound Settings you can also turn off the [Automatically adjust volume] option. This reduces volume changes caused by the input signal.

We hope these steps can help you achieve more consistent sound while watching your movies and shows. If you still require further help, you can contact our technical team via: https://us.esupport.sony.com/support/s/support-contact?language=en_US&category=headphones

Thank you for considering Sony products!

I recently replaced my TV with a Sony Bravia (K65XR80 model) and was extremely excited to get an opportunity to pair it with one of the new Bravia-specific surround systems, in this case the Theater Bar 6 3.1.2. Right away I'm going to mention that when you are dealing with 3.1 systems there is inherently going to be some limitations as far as the size of the room while still getting decent results. If you are trying to use one in a really large family/game room or something with very high ceilings, you just are not going to get the same experience someone in a dorm room, smaller office, or similar is. So please keep that in mind when looking at ANY surround system. There is a reason there are 3.1, 5.1, 7.1 (etc) systems. With that in mind, I set this up in my gaming office and what a simple, straight-forward process. No wires, simple remote, the app is very (very) easy to navigate through to get things sorted in a couple of minutes. Having a Sony TV the remote pairs right up with the soundbar so there's no need to keep both out. You only have a single HDMI connection point, no optical or other options provided. I get keeping things simple, but removing a secondary connection option is something I don't necessarily agree, it comes off as nothing more than a way to save a few bucks during production, but I digress. Not enough to warrant removing a star, but wanted to mention it as it's really the only flaw I had with this system. The whole range is capable of handling Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and DSEE. Coupled with Sony's "Voice Mode" and you have an excellent listening experience on your hands. Plenty of conversations (no pun intended) have been had over the last decade or so about how hard it is in modern films/shows to hear dialogue; "Voice Mode" just about solves this annoyance. Bluetooth connection of other devices is instant and consistent. There's no needing to toggle on/off, pair/unpair. I have other Sony bluetooth speakers and can confidently say they are one of the best in this realm; you'd think by now this would be a non-issue, but it's crazy that in 2025 there are still products out that that will not consistently connect via bluetooth and require constant "fiddling" to get sorted. All in all, this is a great little piece of kit. It's small, yes, but it packs a decent punch when used in the right environment. It's Sony, so the quality is there from materials to the app interface, top to bottom a great system for anyone wanting a quick and easy way to get a quality sound experience. Highly recommended!

      Hi BillnMish,

Thank you for such an incredibly detailed and insightful review of the BRAVIA Theater Bar 8! We're absolutely thrilled to hear you're enjoying the seamless pairing with your new BRAVIA XR K-65XR80 TV and that the setup process was so simple and straightforward.

It's fantastic that you're experiencing the benefits of Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and DSEE, and we're especially glad our "Voice Zoom" is making a difference in clarifying dialogue for you – that's a common pain point we worked hard to address! We also appreciate your recognition of the instant and consistent Bluetooth connectivity, a feature we pride ourselves on.

Your nuanced feedback on room size limitations for 3.1 systems is spot on and truly helpful for other customers. We also hear your point regarding the single HDMI connection and appreciate you taking the time to mention it.

Ultimately, we're delighted you find it a "great little piece of kit" that delivers a quality sound experience in the right environment. Thanks for choosing Sony.

I got this soundbar to go specifically with my Sony bravia x90l series tv. I have it set up and have just been using the tv speakers for about 4 months and I love the tv, but miss the fullness of sound I have with my main surround system on my other TV. Thus comes with 2 power cables, and an hdmi cable. You have to download the bravia connect app and follow the instructions. The app was easy enough to follow, and set up went without a hitch, other than I didn't get the cable hooked into the TV initially and it wasn't connecting, but I found I hadn't pushed the cable in the last mm. Once that wad done the app controls volume and voice and surround setting if you wish, but it’s not necessary once you have it set up. My in laws will use this system a lot and I want it to be able to just turn on and go. This sldoes that, and the tv quickly adjust to external speakers. If this got shut off, it will go back to tv speakers. The volume was seamlessly controlled by tv volume and app and screen matched on level. As for sound, I kicked the bass up all the way and watch several movies in 4k atmos with heavy action and also dialogue. Voice was clear and the action was done well, very spatial with directional quality. Helicopters went from left to right on the screen, bullets flew from right to left and past me. Cars drove by and away well. I have this in a mid-size living area and I was sitting about 14 foot back and it fell like it was around me. Bass and tone are crisp. Dialogue very discernable The price point on this competative for low/mid premium bars with a sub, sound is not quite as good as my bose soundbar for dialogue and regular TV where sound varies with broadcasts, but for movies and action right there with it. Capatability and ease of use, this was a snap, and matched my tv without issues, making it a good option for that tv. I’m very glad I got this. I won't deduct points for this on anything, though I am old and prefer an actual user manual and not a qr code electronic one, I will not penalize them for going with that trend. There is a 5.1 channel version of this, but this does very excellent without the satellite speakers. It realy does a great job without them surrounding the viewer with sound. I do reccomend this without hesitation.

Included- Soundbar, subwoofer, remote, 2 batteries, HDMI, 2 power cords, manuals The Sony BRAVIA Theater System arrived well packed and organized. Once unpacked, you will find a QR code In the manual to find the Bravia Connect app you will need to download. Create or log into an account and follow the directions to set it up. It was really easy because it walked you through step by step. It was detailed enough so that I was not confused. Once everything was plugged in, it could detect the soundbar and it paired it with the app. It asked a few questions about the distance of the soundbar and subwoofer in relation to the ceiling and the sitting/listening location so it could adjust the settings accordingly. It only took a few minutes and it was done. In the Bravia app, you can customize the overall sound to have the best listening experience. You can adjust the volume, base, audio, sound settings, system settings, wireless speaker settings and HDMI settings. I have the Sony BRAVIA Theater System 6 connected to my Epson EpiqVision Ultra Projector. I always felt that the sound quality on the projector was mediocre, so I've been wanting to upgrade it with a soundbar. The result is now great. It is like night and day adding the soundbar and sub. There are three spatial speakers in the sound bar that support Dolby Atmos® and DTS:X®.1 formats. It really makes watching any show or movie or listening to music an awesome experience compared to what it was previously. It's not claiming to be a surround sound system, it's stating to be a cinematic spatial sound system. I think it delivers on what it says it is. It looks good in any room with any decor with its basic black design. I like that it was simple to set up and it's a simple system. I don't like lots of components to a sound system so this is what I was exactly looking for. I appreciate that the sub is included in part of the system. I have the bass turned up to the max setting because we like it that way. It's not shaking the house but it does deliver a nice strong deep sound. I'm honestly very happy with the Sony Bravia Theater system.

Nice speaker to add to your TV. This speaker and subwoofer combo pack a punch. I added this to my bedroom setup. As it provided a dramitaclly better soundstage and clarity over the built in TV speakers. Lets dive in. This unit is a 3.1.2 setup. Providing the front stage 3 speakers Left/Center/Right then 1 subwoofer and 2 upfiring surround speakers. Completely fills the room and provides good volume and voice clarity. Unlike other bars this size - this one has a center channel for better voice dialogue. It helps a lot. Hookup is simple only requiring the 1 hdmi. It utilizes the ARC functionality of HDMI. ARC is the audio return channel. So you can be limited by the number of HDMI connections on your TV. This method makes input selections easier and to your TV. But connecting the extra device leaves a cable coming down the wall vs being able to hide it behind a table. But it works otherwise very well. This speaker takes all the normal codecs of Dolby DTS ATMOS There is a voice Zoom3 feature for compatible Sony TVs that enhances voice even more using AI mechanisms. Great sound bar. Minimal look approach. Works as expected and simple to setup.

The Sony Bravia theater bar 6 is a convenient, compact, stylish way to liven up your viewing experience. It is a 3.1.2 channel soundbar, meaning you've got three primary speakers, one base speaker, and two upward facing speakers for Dolby Atmos spatial sound. All of the speakers except for the subwoofer are contained within the soundbar, and it is less than 2 in tall, meaning it can fit under most TVs that are on a stand. The installation is incredibly quick and easy, just connect your HDMI cable, preferably from your eArc hdmi port on your TV to to your soundbar. Run everything else through your TV as normal, and just enable CEC, or computer electronic control. This will allow you to adjust the volume of the soundbar with your TVs remote control. The subwoofer just quickly pairs to to the soundbar, and just works. The sound is amazing, as soon as you get this and get it set up, jump on YouTube and look for some speaker tests, both surround sound tests and Dolby Atmos tests. You will be amazed with the performance of such a quick and easy installation.

I am a huge audiophile and this soundbar pretty much scratches that itch quite well. It's a great soundbar over all and you get a good bang for your buck with it as well. I tried it with several games and movies and music. I think overall the sound quality is clear and the bass is boomy and it's adjustable, but I found that it feels like overall, it's too mid heavy. I like to hear some highs and this speaker just felt like it didn't provide that as much as I would have wanted out of the box. The app is a good companion to be able to tell what is active because without it, you just have some blinking led lights on the soundbar and the subwoofer which is lowkey inconvenient. This is honestly what brings it to 4 stars. It is so hard to use the soundbar without any information at all. Sometimes I just want to use it as a bluetooth speaker or without the companion app but it's hard to tell with just the LEDs. The quality of the soundbar itself feels premium and so does the subwoofer. It doesn't feel like Sony cheaped out on making the device itself and that's good. Overall, this is good for the price and the quality!

The new Sony Theater Bar 6 is a great-looking and well-made soundbar. The bar supports Dolby Atmos and DTS-X and features 3 front firing drivers for left, right and dedicated center channels along with 2 up firing height speakers. The bar is matched with a front ported wireless 6” subwoofer. Both the bar and subwoofer have a metal mesh grill which I much prefer over the fabric grills found on a number of soundbars. The bar itself is around 37.5” wide and fits well with most TVs. The sub is on the larger side at around 15” tall and deep and just under 9” wide but due to the front porting was pretty easy to place. There are a couple of things to be aware of. The system does not have the option to add rear speakers, and the system does not support WiFi. The lack of support for WiFi means that updates can only be done via USB. Neither of these were an issue for me as I was aware of these limitations before getting the system. Set was easy. I wanted this soundbar to connect to my ultra short throw projector that supports both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos in a room that is approximately 14’ X 14’. I didn’t want or need to have to deal with rear speakers for this application, so this bar works out perfectly. When you connect the bar to the Sony Connect app you can control a number of features of the bar. There is a simple calibration set up where you can adjust the distance from the bar to the listening position, the height to the ceiling and distance from the subwoofer. There are also 3 sound field settings. Volume and bass adjustments are also available. Be aware that the Sony Connect app is different than the other 2 apps Sony has. I have Sony headphones, earbuds and 2 different Bluetooth speakers and they all use different Sony apps. I find this kind of odd but they all work. The system also comes with a remote that can control simple functions, but I find the app to be more useful. There is no display on the bar as it only has a light that shows when you increase the volume or are using Bluetooth. This light can be adjusted or turned off in the app. All of this is easy to set up and works really well. The question is, how does it sound? I was really surprised at how wide the soundstage was. It is far larger than the bar. The height speakers work better than I had hoped with a real feeling of spatialness. The subwoofer does a great job of adding low end boost and blending well with the bar to enhance the midrange fullness. With the dedicated center channel, the vocals are very well balanced, and dialog is easy to understand. There is a voice zoom feature in the app and on the remote for boosting voice output, but I haven’t found it necessary to use. After several days of experimenting with the various sound settings I seemed to have found the perfect setup and sound is just outstanding. I have watched around 10 Dolby Atmos movies along with a number of regular 5.1 TV shows and while Dolby Atmos is the real star I have no issue with other content. As for the price. This bar may not be for everyone if you are looking for a true 5.1 or Dolby Atmos soundbar with rear speakers but if you are looking for a simple to setup and use soundbar that sounds 90% as good as a full surround soundbar I think this Sony Bar 6 is hard to beat. For comparison I also have a 9.1.4 Dolby Atmos soundbar. The Sony Bar 6 is the perfect solution for a smaller space or bedroom as it can fill the room with great sound. At the recent sale prices, it is definitely worth checking out. I would highly recommend giving it a chance.

    Wonderful Room-filling Soundbar-Woofer

This is an outstanding soundbar. It is compact with the bar containing all the speakers including a center channel speaker. The bass woofer is separate and is very powerful with just the right amount of rumble. The difference from my puny TV speakers to this soundbar/woofer is amazing. Music videos pop into the room with crisp and vibrant sound. Even TV shows sound more clear with more definition on the sound that fills your TV room. This unit does employ Dolby Atmos® and DTS:X®. You will hear Dolby Atmos fill the room with a kind of 3-dimensions of sound, up and down and front to back and all around you; it really makes listening so much more real and enjoyable. DTS:X sends the sound around you as if you had speakers everywhere in the room. Sony has put it all together for a great soundbar/woofer – tip of the cap to the Sony engineers. One problem I had which was minor was getting the correct app for setting everything up. An 18” by 5” card is on top of the woofer when you open the box. Among other info it says “Complete setup in the app”. My fault, I assumed it was the Sony Music Center app which I have used before. I downloaded that app and it didn’t work. The correct app is the Sony Bravia Connect app. The card should say specifically to download this app. In fairness there is a QR code on the card, so I missed that, it would have gotten the correct app. Again, this was a minor error; but there is plenty of room on this info card for Sony to be specific that it is the Sony Bravia Connect app that you need. Once I opened the correct app, the installation was flawless. Be sure to use the HDMI eARC port or your TV. The Sony engineers included a couple small feet in case you need to ‘lift’ the sound bar over the TV’s feet - good idea. The packing was superb. The structure of the device is top notch and well built. A tip of the cap to the Sony engineers for a very nicely designed device both aesthetically and technologically. The remote that came with it works very well and gives you an option in addition to your cell phone app for controlling the sound bar. I did notice that once installed, your TV remote will also control the volume of the sound bar – nice; this way you only need one remote most of the time. The soundbar-remote can control the bass and the soundbar separately – great. If you do want to switch from ‘Sound Field’ to ‘Voice’ you’ll need the cell app or the soundbar-remote control. The speakers including the woofer have absolutely no messy noise/hum; the sound is perfect with front and up-firing speakers. When you do the setup, you will need to tell it how the ceiling is. I highly recommend this soundbar/woofer combo and it is far and away the best audio experience I have had.

Seems like Sony is making 2025 a pillar year. Having just released the stellar XM6 headphones, Sony now releases the Theatre soundbar 6. This includes a bass and a 3 speaker system with the middle designed for clearer voice output. This translates to an option of how you would like to hear the sound from the soundbar. The remote gives you an option of either “sound field” or “voice” that can alter the sound. I have been going back and forth and trying to decide if I prefer one over the other. I have to say after multiple days of testing that both options work pretty well. If you are an audiophile looking for options, I would recommend this soundbar. Digging into the specifics, the bar reaches a respectable 40” in length and weighs around 33lbs. The bass is not nearly as heavy as the ones I have, very nice surprise all things considered with the tech inside. With this said, you will need to plan ahead for the best fit in your entertainment area. The overall set up of the unit was smooth over all, but brought with it, the only real complaint I have about the entire experience. When I hooked up everything to the tv, the bass would not work. I reset and rehooked up all the cables but still nothing. I decided to look online to see if an app from Sony would help and found one called Bravia connect. I point this out because I do not have a Bravia TV, which feels like the main component for this app, but works great with the soundbar, no worries. Actually using the app fixed the bass not responding by giving a BOOM! Honestly I had the volume waaaay too high, think of it in terms of Marty in front of the Doc's speakers. Impressive to say the least! I do wish Sony would make more of an effort to steer the customer to the app as it synced up immediately and fixed all issues. Gives a GUI for when changing from sound field to voice, so you know when it changes visually. The app also gives you control over the bass and what the median is for the best use case. I watched several action movies, regular TV for baseball watching and used it as an MP3 for the tablet when listening to music. All I can say honestly, is that it changes what you expect to hear, no matter what it is. The sound is more enriched, whole and surrounding. Oh and shaky. The bass doesn’t mess around if you turn the volume up too much. I was told from others 3 doors away they could hear the movie and feel the floor moving. When Sony labeled this a Theatre bar, they weren’t lying. + Amazing sound & bass +Bravia connect - App that helps set up - Download it! - Sony doesn't advertise thier own app to help with syncing when setting up.

We recently received the Sony Bravia Theater Bar 6 with subwoofer and have been absolutely blown away by the incredible sound experience it offers. The buzzword is immersive, and that is precisely what you get with this device. An immersive and captivating audio rich environment that moves you from your living room straight into the action, sound stage, or directly to the field of play. Out of the box, the Sony Bravia has some noticeable callouts. First of which, is that the sub is actually pretty beefy weight wise. Next would be that there is no front facing display on the sub or bar. Both bar and sub are true to form with the Bravia series and feel exceptionally well made. I like the matte black, but I am a massive fan of that iconic Sony gloss, so I wish they would have incorporated that more here. Setting up was painless and relatively simple using the app. I researched the unit beforehand and saw that other users experienced a firmware update or something that was a challenge. This was not my experience, unless I just missed something. That said, this unit does not have built-in wifi, so we will have to see what happens when I need an update. As for sound, I am super impressed and love showing it off to family and friends. We have a bit of a noisy household with two teenage children, two dogs, and a multitude of other things that go on in this environment. With the Sony Bravia theater bar 6, no matter what is going on, you can stay involved and connected to the media without distractions interfering with sound or content. The bar brings rich highs, and the sub hits with deep lows, while the mids bounce sound to amplify everything else in a crystal clear symphony. At this price point, I would paint the Bar 6 as a mid-level to high-level sound bar. So at this price point, I expect my sound bar to rattle my back door, or hopefully my neighbors. The Sony delivers on rattling our door, but falls well short of our neighbors, lol. Final thoughts come with a story. In 2008, I bought my first Sony Bravia TV. Seventeen years and many moves later, that TV still has one of the best pictures we have in our house and has outlasted every other TV, no matter what the quality. I will buy a Sony product because it works and lasts. Again, from an expectation standard, I feel confident that this sound bar will last and deliver superior quality sound for years to come.

As you can tell from the review title, I was not completely impressed with the spacial/surround sound ability, however there is still a lot to like about this product. Initially, the packaging was great and has great protection for the product to get to the customer in perfect condition. The weight and feel of the components are good, and leads me to believe it should last for quite a while and was designed with quality in mind. The app is easy to use to get the sound bar set up easily. While I don't like having apps for everything, once it is set up and in the mode you prefer to use it in, minimal app usage is necessary going forward. The features and connections are perfect for a variety of uses, so compatibility is not an issue. Most importantly, sound quality. This is the reason I rated the product at three stars. If it was a $100 less expensive, I would give four stars, but at this price point, I expected a bit more. In my experience, soundbars are great for smaller rooms that are symmetrical and can reflect sound evenly. I have a more open room, so the voices are clear and play at a great volume, however the spacial/surround sound effect is lacking. The bass is good, but when you really try to maximize it, the low frequencies aren't super crisp. Overall, it is a great product with the features you need, but in my opinion, a little overpriced for what you get.

I was excited to get a newer sound bar, my current set up is aging at 5 years old. GIven Sony's reputation I was pretty underwhelmed to say the least. Mind you I am not expecting a true audiophile experience from a sound bar, but this was not even as good as my old system which was in the same general price point. Set up is really easy, thank you for that, the app makes it pretty simple but then again so does the ARC return channel and how compatible everything is these days. The app is basic and will control what you need. Just to be sure this isn't a source thing I use a DVD with ATMOS/DTS encoding and the HDMI ARC connection. I did like the true voice feature, it did a good job with TV broadcasts too so you can hear who is speaking clearly. Bass is good, but just not enough control for me, sometimes I want a really good punch! Highs and mid-range is acceptable and I suppose if you are looking for a soundbar for the average TV watcher, just broadcast and a movie once in awhile, then maybe this hits the target. However, for the price tag you can get that for less. There is no option to expand this system, which might have salvaged it at this price point but then again putting another $$ for rear speakers and you might as well build your own. If you are the average watcher this is a good system, but the price isn't worth it in my opinion.

If you need a speaker to hear what is being said on a show this is a great sound bar. The commercials stay the same volume or maybe a little bit lower. Plus this one comes with a subwoofer. They sound great together!
