I really wanted this to work because at its economical price point it would have been a home run in the Sony eco space. I connected it to my Bravia 7 and it kept falling in and out of connection with the HDMI connector. Even with my PS5 it would drop connection constantly. Returned .

      Hi DonDaniel,

We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and review of the BRAVIA Theater System 6, even though you ultimately had to return the unit.

We are truly sorry to hear that you encountered frustrating connectivity issues with both your BRAVIA 7 TV and your PS5, causing the audio to constantly drop out. We understand how disappointing it is when a product, especially one with an appealing price point, does not deliver the seamless performance you expect.

Your detailed feedback regarding the intermittent HDMI connection issues is valuable and will be shared with our product development team for review.

      Thank you for considering Sony!

      Regards,
      Dominick Sony_US

The Sony BRAVIA Theater System 6 has been a great addition to my setup. I wanted better sound without the hassle of setting up a full AV receiver, and this system delivered. Setup was pretty straight forward. The soundbar, subwoofer, and rear speakers were all easy to get going. Once I had everything powered on, the rear speaker receiver synced right up with the subwoofer with no issues, which was a nice surprise. My only real complaint is the rear speaker cables are pretty short. I couldn’t run them neatly from behind my couch to the front of the room, so I had to put the receiver toward the back and use a floor cable channel to hide the wires. Not ideal, but manageable. Once it was all set up, I jumped into episode 3 of The Last of Us Season 2 and was blown away. The surround sound immediately made a difference and was way more immersive. After calibrating the system using the BRAVIA Connect app, it honestly felt like being in a movie theater. The bass hits hard, voices are clear, and the overall sound is rich. I’ve really been enjoying it.

In the Box: The system arrived in an odd-looking, unwieldy, connected pair of boxes, with a fat/squat cubed box containing the 25lb subwoofer adjoined to a tall box containing the soundbar, amp, rear speakers, power cords, cabling, & remote. The FedEx driver had a heckuva time getting it off the truck & up to the driveway ‘til I rushed out to help her. Packaging: To our delight, all the minimalist matte black components were logically arranged & expertly packed in a tight array of dedicated, formfitting, recessed molds to keep each piece locked down in transit. Kudos to Sony for their attention to detail in designing custom shipping materials ensuring every system component arrives in pristine condition. Sony immediately validates their customers for choosing quality. Installation/Setup: I scanned the QR code to D/L the Bravia Connect app from the Google Play store. I followed the simple paint-by-number instructions for setup, operation & initial settings config. Using the incl. cables, I connected the TV to the subwoofer & the subwoofer to the soundbar. (A wireless signal is then sent to the rear amp to which the L&R rear speakers are wired.) The app eventually confirmed the system had properly read our TV via HDMI/eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) & we were able to control power & volume w/our TV’s remote. After pairing, the app guided us thru the process of customizing the surround sound (‘SS’) system to fit our unique home environment, incl. our seated listening position relative to the speakers & our listening preferences. It was as close to ‘plug & play’ as we’ve seen w/an SS setup. Taking a relaxed, methodical approach, it took just a ½-hr from box opening to install. At the end of the process, the app confirmed our speaker system setup had been completed. App: The app offers deeper settings control than the system’s dedicated remote; so, we connect via the app to rebalance components or finetune settings. Speaker Test: We performed a speaker check using the Test Tone app feature. The app displays & highlights each individual speaker image as it emits an audible synchronized hiss until every speaker has been tested & the full loop is complete. Speaker Positioning/Volume Level Settings: Our setup didn’t require any tools other than a tape measure to check the distance between the sofa & subwoofer & soundbar, & the distance between the sofa & rear speakers. We entered this data in the pulldown menus w/in the Sound Sub-Settings. This data helps optimize the system’s performance when SS is enabled via the default Sound Field setting for max listening enjoyment. The volume level settings for the subwoofer & L&R rear speakers are adjustable (Presets can be adjusted from -6dB to +6dB). We leave these settings at a neutral 0dB for all our OTA TV channels. Sound Field Setting: You can toggle among 3 different Sound Field Types or Virtual Surround Modes, incl.: Sony’s own Vertical Surround Engine, Dolby’s Speaker Virtualizer, & DTS’s Neural:X. Sony’s engine allows the soundbar to ‘position’ sound in vertical space so we can experience virtual 3D audio, ostensibly w/o need for ceiling or up-firing speakers. We liked all 3 ‘virtualizers’ but gave the edge to Sony. To our ears it seemed to offer more pronounced vertical sound placement ‘images’ that add ‘height’ channels to the traditional SS format. Sony uses 360 Spatial Sound Mapping which they combine w/Sound Field Optimization to provide listeners w/optimal sound immersion, surrounding them from all directions, incl. from above. DSEE: You can toggle on/off the Digital Sound Enhancement Engine. Audio info is often lost in the higher frequencies in file compression. But Sony’s DSEE tech analyzes compressed audio files & uses algorithms/AI to recreate this missing info. This restoration is meant to bring the sound closer to high-res audio & contribute to a richer, more natural sound. Audio DRC: This tech compresses the dynamic range of Dolby True HD encoded audio signals so we can hear soft sounds & dialogue more easily. We’ve toggled this on at times to try & avoid resorting to closed captioning. A/V Sync: Depending on the streaming source, we’ve occasionally noticed some separation. You can delay audio to reduce audio-visual mismatch w/a slider that offers a 0-to-120-millisecond delay. We’ve played w/this slider to try & compensate. Advanced Auto Volume: Sony’s tech minimizes volume changes due to changing input signals w/the aim of creating a more consistent listening experience & preventing abrupt changes in volume. It specifically considers the center channel, which often carries dialogue, to make more accurate adjustments. We keep this feature toggled on to prevent loud volume shocks at the start of commercial breaks. Bass: The dedicated subwoofer offers a deep, impactful bass that can reverberate under your feet w/great intensity or be minimized to simply balance out your overall audio’s mids & highs w/o drawing attention to the bass at all. Voice/Dialogue: If you’re being forced to use headphones or earbuds or enable closed captioning because the dialogue is being trampled by an overbearing soundtrack or the studio has cut corners on audio capture or sound engineering, then you can lower the bass & enhance the dedicated center speaker’s voice channel w/Voice Mode via the app or remote. This enhances vocal clarity by boosting mid-range frequencies for clearer voice reproduction in dialogue-heavy scenes. Sony’s unique Sound Optimizer Signal Processing Tech suppresses distortion & lets each speaker produce voice & treble simultaneously w/little-to-no distortion for clearer dialogue. Multi-Stereo Mode: This setting plays the same full audio from all speakers simultaneously. It provides a consistent room-filling sound throughout the space & is appropriate for background music, easy listening, social gatherings, & parties. Night Mode: This mode provides subtle boosts in soft sounds at lower volumes, enhancing dialogue clarity, while lowering the intensity of louder sounds like booms & crashes. It allows late-night TV watching w/o disturbing other family members. Upmixer: Sony’s unique upmixer can upgrade the playback of you older or lower quality content if it wasn’t recorded in Dolby Atmos or DTS:X. This tech restores acoustic details using algorithms/AI to help produce a richer 3D sound closer to what you would enjoy w/content recorded in today’s premium formats. Test Drive: We 1st tested the System 6 by playing a few YouTube 5.1 Dolby Atmos demo clips. Then we streamed a few favs on Pandora (you can also stream music via BT from your phone), watched a few scenes from our favorite movies on Blu-ray, & streamed a few movie scenes on Netflix. Power Cord Length: Both the subwoofer power cord & the rear speaker amp should be at least 1ft longer. With our newer model 77” OLED TV all connecting ports are on the back L side. I had to rearrange everything above & below my TV stand/media console just to make this setup work w/only 1” of cord to spare. Audio Volume Indicator: The small unobtrusive numerical volume indicator that used to appear on my TV screen when I increased/decreased the volume via my TV’s remote control has disappeared ever since I installed the Theatre System 6 & initialized the Sony Bravia Connect app. Now, this volume indicator is displayed only in the app. But I don’t want to access the app screen in the dark just to see the volume setting. I’ve checked my TV settings & manual & there’s no option to reenable the numerical volume display on my TV screen w/this new setup. Can Sony remedy this w/an update? Clunky Firmware Updates: After the Bravia Connect app confirmed it had the latest software v. installed, I visited Sony’s website to D/L a pdf instruction manual & discovered the new Sony speaker system needed a new firmware update. Unfortunately, this speaker system isn’t equipped w/Wi-Fi or an ethernet port; so, the update had to be performed manually, using my laptop & a USB drive. This is a bit archaic compared to my other home theater components which offer direct internet connectivity. I can D/L firmware updates to our spare 11-yr.-old Sony Bravia 4k TV & our 7-yr.-old Sony 4k Ultra Blu-ray Player, as both devices are equipped w/ethernet ports. But w/this new speaker system, I’m forced to jump thru some rather convoluted instructions & annoying hoops to update the firmware which was anything but a smooth process. Overall: I assumed this rather compact mid-tier SS system would improve our movie viewing-enjoyment, but I didn’t think it would make THAT BIG of a difference. As it turns out, I underestimated the impact & power of 3D SS tech combined w/rear speakers & the technical prowess of Sony/Dolby Atmos to deliver it. I won’t say it’s like switching from B&W to color TV but the difference in sound does rise to the level of ‘gamechanger’ in terms of the overall immersive experience. This system provides a ‘you are there’ feeling of authenticity & reality as it places you at the center of the storyteller’s cinematic journey. I’ve been a lifelong fan of Sony’s patented sound processing techs. This well-balanced system provides a theater-like experience w/its 10 total speakers (incl. dedicated tweeters) & delivers quality spatial audio. And it doesn’t hurt that all this tech comes in a beautiful, understated, compact, well-engineered, classic Sony quality build. We’ve always looked forward to movie nights, & now, even more so. You don’t have to spend a fortune on complex, expensive hardware anymore to realize the sound you get w/this compact SS system. Best of all, you can easily & quickly install this simple, compact system all by yourself.

    A "Bravia New World"...

I have owned and used a Dolby Atmos 9.2 Channel System now for over 9 years. Recently we had to remove it all due to having new carpeting installed and so this was the perfect opportunity to set up this Sony Bravia Theatre System 6 and compare it to my normal system. Setting it up is of course, far easier and less time consuming. Simply install the Sony Bravia App to your iPhone or Android phone and install the Subwoofer, which has the power supply for the soundbar, connect the soundbar with the attached cabling to the input on the Sub then connect your TV's ARC/eARC HDMI in/output to the Sub's HDMI input. Next you take the rear channel Bluetooth Amp/Receiver for the left and right rear channels, plug the two small speakers into said Amp/Receiver and place them accordingly. Plug in the Subwoofer and the rear channel Amp/Receiver and then follow the VERY EASY instructions to setup the Bravia Theatre System 6. BAZINGA!! Truthfully, the Bravia Theatre System 6 is nowhere near the equal of the 9.2 channel setup I normally have in this room but it is also much, much easier to work with and doesn't take up anywhere near the floor space. But having gone through every single version of Dolby's Surround Codec for home use over the decades I can state without reservation that this supposed "entry level" (compared to Sony's other more advanced soundbar systems in their Bravia line!) soundbar/sub/rear channel is up to the task of providing a dramatically realistic sense of "being there" and if this is your first time with Dolby Atmos, you WILL be not only impressed but more than satisfied! And happy with your purchase! I set up the Sub and rear channel speaker distance parameters in the Bravia app as well as rear channel volume and subwoofer output level. I positioned the rear speakers at approximately just a foot or so above ear height and their volume at 50% of full level and adjusted the Sub's output according to my preference based upon the film/show I was viewing. Watching a show streamed in Dolby Atmos ("The Mandalorian") that I am very familiar with revealed what I would conservatively estimate to be 40% to 50% of the performance of my normal 9.2 Channel system. Keeping in mind that the Sony Bravia Theatre System 6 equipment takes up perhaps only 25% or so of the physical space of my normal setup, I am more than pleased with the performance of this system. When viewing Max's new series "Sherlock & Daughter" I was treated to a 5.1 channel rendering of the show's engaging dialog, somewhat limited (to the time period being portrayed in the show!) sound effects and musical soundtrack. In a world EXCELLENT! Films I viewed via my streaming services included Thor, Iron Man, Spiderman, Deadpool 1 and 2, Batman Begins, The Batman and more. Musicals such as Brigadoon and Oklahoma! were audibly rendered in glorious stereo that was a marvel of the sound of music made "more" by the excellent performance of the Bravia Theatre System 6! Not caring at all for professional sports and MLB games are not something I normally watch, I "suffered" them for the sake of this review, LOL!. The stadium crowd became a resounding part of the visual experience on my 65" Hisense TV and was most impressive for someone like myself that rarely if ever, watches sports. On the app if a codec is supported as Dolby Atmos is, it is shown in the upper right hand corner of the app. Watching game 3 of the Stanley Cup playoff between Florida and Edmonton the Bravia decoded Dolby Atmos for me and I was once again sonically transported to the arena. When watching "Sherlock & Daughter" the app displayed the codec as a 5.1 Channelmix presented to and decoded by the Bravia Theatre System 6. I am looking at this from at the least, the point of view of a newcomer to Atmos in particular and Surround in general but also at the far end of the scale, someone like myself that is used to a more powerful and engaging Atmos setup with 7.2 to 9.2 channels but thinking of downsizing. But truth be told, I am leaning toward the newcomer end of the scale of the surround experience. This system will ultimately wind up in our Family Room for use by my wife for her normal TV and Hallmark Romance movie viewing along with films and shows more suited to our very young grandchildren. The Sony Bravia Theatre System 6 is that easy and that good. There is a noticeable difference in the quality and placement of sound "cues", if you will with this system. Bass reproduction by the powered sub is outstanding for a unit of its size. It is easy to use in that once hooked up, it turns on with your TV and if your wish is to bypass it simply turn it off with the supplied remote control and use your TV's builtin speakers. But like many such things, once you have become accustomed to it, the Sony Bravia Theatre System 6 will become the sound foundation of your viewing and listening pleasure. Roughly 85% of my main system was purchased at Best Buy with my own money and it will go back in to our Media Room which is where I primarily watch films and listen to music. The cost of that equipment is several times that of this Sony setup but again, the Bravia provides in my estimation at least 40% to 50% of the sonic benefits of my 9.2 system with the caveat being what you decode is what you are sent and what your equipment has the ability to decode. Dolby Atmos is quite popular and with good reason. There is an abundance of film and shows available with Atmos as their surround codec! My wife is overjoyed in anticipation of my moving the Bravia Theatre System 6 from the Media Room to the Family Room. Soon. Real soon. As are our grandchildren! Five Stars. Why? Because it delivers the goods. With ease of setup, ease of use and a markedly pronounced difference for the better in sound reproduction! If this is your first foray into surround sound and especially so Dolby Atmos, be prepared to be happy! If you are downsizing from something like a 7.1 to 9.2 or more system understand that what you are "giving up" by going to a soundbar will depend upon the genre of film you watch. If you are like me and watching everything from the 1930s (mono) to the classic movie musicals of late 1950s (stereo) and into the 1970s with the advent of Dolby Surround and beyond, you will not be disappointed but rather, more than satisfied. The two photos I included show a before photo of when I was beginning to remove my 9.2 system for the installation of new carpet and after photo of my temporary test setup of the Sony Bravia Theatre System 6. Like the title says, it really is a "Bravia New World". Highly recommended. Indeed it is!

While TV speakers are getting good, nothing really compares to what a surround sound system will do for your listening experience. Sony delivers a fantastic surround sound experience that is easy to setup and enhances your entertainment system. Pros: - Sound on this theatre system is clean and loud. Voices sound great through the center channel and dialog in movies and videos come in clear while still getting all the detail from the action sequences. You get all the details of sound in a chaotic action sequence while still getting clear dialog. - The sub has very good bass. I enjoy turning it up for music, but I need to turn the level back down to 1 or 2 for movies just to balance it out with the sound. - The Bravia app allows you to go in and adjust sound settings, volume, and sound profiles. Right on the main screen you can adjust the volume of the speakers as well as how much bass the subwoofer is putting out. The sound profiles allows you to quickly switch between different sound settings. On by default is sound field. If you go to the settings you can adjust how this performs, but from what I can tell it uses Upmixer of Dolby or DTS depending on what kind of content is detected. You have the option to switch to only Dolby or only DTS virtual. Also within the app you can control how the device works with eARC, Bluetooth, system settings, and even powering off and on. It’s also worth noting you’ll need the app to finish the setup process, including testing the speakers, and setting up their location and distance from the listening area. - Setup was simple and straight forward. While the rear speakers aren’t quite wireless, you get plenty of cable and they clip right into the receiver which does communicate wirelessly to the subwoofer. This gives quite a bit of flexibility regardless of being wired with the receiver being wireless. The subwoofer seems to be where the brains are seeing as how it’s where the HDMI and sound bar plug into. Once connected to the eARC plug on your TV, soundbar connected, and then the sub plugged in, you can fire up the app and follow the steps to get everything connected. Once through the setup process, the remote or app to control all things sound on the subwoofer, or if you’re just a one remote person, the tv remote would control the sound just as well, but you lose some of the customization provided with the app or remote. Cons - It really depends on your setup but if you have a wall mounted TV, running the HDMI cable from the subwoofer, ideally located on the floor, up to the TV, may require a longer cable and might not be necessarily the cleanest look unless you can hide the wires. The same is true for the rear speakers. While you probably have a place in mind for the speakers, finding a place for the wireless receiver could be a problem, depending on how far apart your speakers are. There’s plenty of included speaker cable, so you’re likely to put the receiver where one of your speakers are, but now you have a cable to either hide or blend. Final Thoughts - I find that this is a great sounding surround system. While it has plenty of sound features and supports upmixing and dolby and DTS standards, you don’t get some of the more advance features that are out there such as room analysis to adjust sound and deeper integration with the TV speakers, or fully wireless connectivity (aside from power cables). If you’re looking for a plug and play surround sound system, with an easy setup process, and a great sound, you’ll be very happy with this theater system.

This Soundbar creates incredible Movie Sound

I have grown up with surround sound starting with Dolby Prologic utilizing separate components. Over the years we have been able to reduce speaker size, add Dolby Digital & Dolby Atmos. But now we have some soundbars that rival, or exceed the sounds produced by separate components. This Sony Bravia Model 6 is one of those Soundbars that has succeeded in making a serious attempt at reproducing some great Movie Sounds and has succeeded! The Bass reproduction is BIG time! Serious chest pounding bass with crisp, loud, clear highs and voices. I played Avatar on a Sony OLED with this Soundbar and it blew away my original name brand receiver and name brand speakers standing 4 ft tall. The sounds were cleaner and clearer on this Sony and the Bass was super strong during the fight scenes. We are talking chest pounding bass! And I mean in a good way! You still have control using the remote or the app to increase or decrease the amount of bass. There is also a night mode, to reduce disturbing the neighbors. This model requires the Bass Module to be up front near the Soundbar and I think that makes the Bass reproduction so much better because its projecting toward the viewing area. If you require the bass module to be located more than 6 feet from the actual soundbar, this model is not for you. This Sony has a wired cable that must run between the Base Module and the soundbar. Additionally, the HDMI cable from the TV must run to the base module. However, the rear extension speakers can be located in the rear of your room without wires from the front. Setup was easy and fairly quick. Plug the Soundbar itself into the Base Module. Run the provided HDMI cable from the E-ARC on the TV into the Bass module. Run a power cable from an AC outlet to the Bass Module. Set up the rear speakers and plug them into the provided small rear amp. Run a power cable from an outlet to the small amp that can be hidden behind or under a sofa. Download the Sony Connect App on your phone and start the setup. The setup using the Sony Connect App is quick and easy. It walks you through each step and there are tones played to confirm that its working and progressing through each step. Once finished, you are ready to enjoy some great sound. The App or the included remote can be used for operating the system. The App provides a setup tone to assist balancing the relative volume from each of the 5 speaker groups. The App is also great while watching a show to make small adjustments for the rear speaker volume, bass intensity, Voice enhancements and etc. There is a Voice Enhancement button on the remote and on the app. It does as great job of boosting the clarity of voices both in music and in dialogue. The system turns on with the TV and turns off when you turn off the TV. You can Bluetooth from you phone to the soundbar for listening to your favorite music or Podcast. Sound is excellent! Well balanced, powerful, crisp, and clear. CONCLUSION: One of the best sound systems I have listened to in my 30 plus years using various surround sound systems. It’s also one of the easiest to setup and use. Even the rear speakers sound large and loud if need be. They really compliment the sound field that is created up front. I would definitely recommend this system to anyone wanting super clear and powerful movie sound in their home. It's a winner.

The setup was pretty simple, the wireless rear speakers connected up without an issue, which i figured might give me the biggest issue if anything did. Not only that but they connect up seemlessly everytime the system is turned on which turns on and off with the HDMI ARC, which is exactly what i want. The surround sound is customizable for the distance and setup that you have in your room. I think the most interesting part is the bass is actually the main device that provides power and data from the TV to the sound bar. So if you are one of those people that thinks you might just put the bass in the closet at some point (not sure why but i know those people exist) this is not the device for you. For everyone else, this should work fine, or kind of. The issue with this is that i moved power up to my TV so that i can place the sound bar on the wall right below the TV and no cord will show. Because this has a cord that goes down to the bass unless you ran a tube down your wall, you will have a cord going one way or the other up to the TV. If cord don’t bug you or you have a tube up to your TV, or maybe just the HDMI up to your TV, this works amazing (or maybe your TV isn’t wall mounted). It’s especially weird it was done this way when the wireless to the rear speakers works so flawlessly, it seems like a wireless bass might have made it easier to not worry about cords. The wireless rear speakers aren’t actually wireless, just wireless to the front bass/soundbar. There is a box and two speakers that need to have a wired connection to the box. All three have all mount hooks on the back that worked quite well for getting them off the night stands. Surround sound is just cool, I love having the sound all around you, it’s the standard for my headsets, but not my TVs which is just weird. The sound quality is good and voices are clear. The bass adds a wonderful element to the sound as well. The TV I put it on had a sound bar without a bass and the upgrade is just amazing. Pros: Sounds great Easy to setup Surround Sound plenty of length provided for rear speaker wires Easy to use wire plugs Cons: Don’t love the bass being where everything is plugged in at.

I’m going to start with the simple stuff. The packaging for this item was actually pretty good. Lots of environmentally friendly fabric/papers for backs and covers on stuff, which is nice to see. The package housed everything well, and I feel even if the box got beat up a bit, it would survive okay. Setup was super simple. Although it did throw me off a bit when I had to plug the HDMI signal of EARC into the subwoofer instead of the sound bar. I guess for this model all the processing is done in the subwoofer housing and not in the soundbar housing as I have seen with some sound bar/theater setups in the past, even from Sony. Other than that it was super simple: plug the sound bar into the woofer, plug in power and HDMI to the woofer, and then the rear speaker setup is wireless so your rear speakers connect to a receiver in the back with wires and then that is wireless to the base unit. It’s nice that you don’t have to run wires from back to front in your room to get the rear channels. Once the cables were all plugged in, I had to install their app and run through the setup process. After that, it was fairly straightforward. Not any issues to speak of. Overall sound quality is miles better than the simple sound bar only setup I had before, and it’s really nice to get the whole package with such a simple setup process. If I had any complaints, it might be that other than a single setting to boost voices, there is not a simple way to increase or decrease audio levels of just the center channel. I tend to have a hard time distinguishing voices in other sounds, so I normally like to increase the voice/center channel with systems. I was, however, able to increase/decrease the sub channel and the rear channel, so that’s nice, I guess. Overall, I would say if you’re looking for a decent all-rounder, this setup is actually pretty decent. And if your TV supports things like Dolby Atmos, the things they can do with spatial audio are amazing out of such a simple setup. From my current use, it’s a great overall system.

The SONY BRAVIA THEATRE SYSTEM 6 is a monster for the price and sounds pretty nice. This system, which comes at a very reasonable and affordable price point, offers a level of performance that many would consider above and beyond what you might expect in this price range. For those who are looking for a sound system that provides solid value without breaking the bank, the SONY BRAVIA THEATRE SYSTEM 6 really does stand out as a strong contender. The overall performance and features that this system offers make it an appealing choice for people who want something that sounds good, looks good, and won’t cost a fortune. When you consider all of these things together, it becomes clear that this system is definitely worth looking at. First and foremost, the subwoofer in this system is par for the course, and quite honestly, it is what I would expect out of a system in this price range. The bass that the subwoofer produces is good enough for day-to-day listening and for watching films, but it is not going to produce the kind of deep, powerful, room-shaking bass that you may be able to hear out of a much more expensive system or out of a dedicated high-end subwoofer. That being said, for most shoppers who are looking for a budget home theatre system, the subwoofer performance will likely be better than good enough. It provides good low-end support, and while it is not necessarily the most powerful or smoothed-out subwoofer available, it does what it does and does help to flesh out the sound of the overall system. The bass is heard and present, but is not overpowering or too booming, and that actually is a plus in many home systems where too much bass would drive neighbors mad or be a problem for small rooms. The sound is cinematic but not quite sounding that entirely pure, which is to be expected from a wireless system. That is, while you're sitting on the couch watching a movie or listening to the music that you enjoy, you do get that sense of immersion that feels like you are actually sitting in a cinema. The sound is all around you, and it fills the room in a way that watching movies at home is a much more enjoyable experience. But because it is a wireless system, there are compromises, and one of those compromises is that the sound isn't that entirely pure, lossless sound that you might get from a wired system. This is the way that wireless audio technology is at this price point, and to most listeners, it will still sound amazing. The sacrifice of a bit of purity is a small price to pay for the convenience of having fewer wires in your room. You still have crystal-clear sound that is pleasing to the ear, and to most listeners, the difference won't be a dealbreaker. The sound is unmistakably clear and impressive. The most surprising thing about this system is likely to be the clarity of the sound. Dialogue in film and television is clear and rings out, and you can easily hear what characters are saying without needing to turn it up to objectionable levels. Music is real and detailed, with instruments and vocals sounding good with good separation and clarity. The treble is crisp but not excessively sweet, and the midrange is rich and natural-sounding. Although the bass is not phenomenal, it does have a sense of weight and presence that adds up to a good listening experience overall. For a system that costs as much as this one, the clarity of the sound is really quite impressive, and something that users will really enjoy a great deal, particularly watching dialogue-driven material such as dramas or documentaries. The look is very chic and looks great. SONY has gotten it just right with the look of the BRAVIA THEATRE SYSTEM 6. The subwoofer and speakers are crafted in a clean, sleek design that will fit into a very wide range of home decorating styles. If you have a minimalist system, a classic living room, or something in between, this system will fit right in without ever being out of place. The clean look is also the way that the system looks more expensive than it is, which is always a good thing if you want your home entertainment system to look as good as it does. The build is solid, and the materials used look like they have longevity and design focus. This is not a system that looks cheap or flimsy—instead, it looks like something that could very easily cost a great deal more than it does. When I tried playing the Dolby intro on the system, it was AMAZING! Dolby intro is the ultimate home theatre system test since it really gets to show you what the speakers are capable of. The SONY BRAVIA THEATRE SYSTEM 6 did it to perfection. The room was full of sound, effects coming from all over the place, and there was room and depth to the sound that made me feel like I was right in the middle of it all. The sound was actually really clear and distinct, and it was something that made me actually look forward to watching TV shows and movies on this system. Even though it is a budget system, it still has that wow factor that you want when you insert a new home theatre. The experience of listening to the Dolby intro on this system really made me realize just how much value you are getting for your money. I would recommend this to a friend! Everything this system has to offer when you take into consideration the price, the quality of sound, the good looks, the ease of installation, and the overall listening experience is not difficult to see why I would be advising others to try it. If your friend is in the market for a good home theatre system that will not cost an arm and a leg but will still provide a high listening experience, this is well worth the recommendation. It is the best of both worlds when it comes to price and performance, and it's a system that most will more than be pleased with. The ease of installation and use simply makes it all the more appealing to those who do not wish to have to faff around with complex systems and lots of wires. This is perfect for someone who desires a home theater or a quality audio system but can't afford it. Not everyone can spend a large amount of money on quality audio equipment, and that is just the way that it is. The SONY BRAVIA THEATRE SYSTEM 6 is made available for that purpose for those who desire something that sounds good, looks good, and won't break their wallet. It's perfect for apartments, dorm rooms, small living rooms, or really any place that you would like to put a quality audio system without spending an arm and a leg. The system provides a lot for the price, and it's a quality investment for those who are on a budget and desire to be able to listen to favorite movies, TV shows, and music with quality sound that is superior to a TV's speakers can provide. Overall, it's a great deal and a quality addition to any entertainment system.

The Sony Bravia Theater System 6 is the first Sony sound system I've used in over a decade. After using mostly AVR systems and a few soundbars with wireless surrounds from other brands, I thought I had a general idea of the features and sound to expect from a modern home theater system. The Bravia Theater System 6 strikes me as great execution of a more traditional soundbar system like I would have purchased a decade ago, but with much improved sound from those systems. #Unboxing and first impressions# The Bravia Theater System 6 comes in an unwieldy L shaped box with some significant weight to it. Sony thankfully uses mostly cardboard packing materials to protect the speakers, so all but the little sleeves around the individual speakers seem to be easily recyclable which is important to me especially with such a big box. While this isn't a high end home theater system, I felt the weight and feel of each of the components met my expectations for a system at this MSRP. I was a little surprised to find that the main soundbar doesn't have it's own power or inputs. Instead the soundbar is wired to the subwoofer, along with the inputs. All of the speakers have a wire permanently attached. The speakers are all wired with basic speaker wire and a harness on the end, so it will be difficult to extend the wires for a very large room - but this isn't really a sound system for a huge room, either. #Using the Bravia Theater 6# I was a bit surprised that this soundbar system doesn't have wifi built-in, and instead uses Bluetooth alongside a nearly mandatory smartphone app to control the more advanced settings. While this was weird at first, I found that the bluetooth connection was simple and reliable and honestly more trouble-free than pretty much any wifi based home theater component app I've used. Sony has done a great job with the Bravia Connect app and the setup experience for the system. It was very easy to get going and get the wireless amp for the rear speakers paired. In terms of practicality, the Bravia Theater System 6 has some limitations that keep it from being a system I could universally recommend. It doesn't perform any HDMI passthrough or switching, for example - it only functions as an HDMI eARC system, with a single HDMI input that only works when connected to an ARC/eARC compatible TV. However, the system has both optical and 3.5mm analog audio input, which does give you more legacy inputs than many soundbars I've seen. What really impressed me with the Bravia Theater System 6 is how well it just worked, and how great the sound fills a room with Atmos despite not having up-firing speakers. I simply connected the HDMI port on the subwoofer to my Hisense TV's eARC port and I was done. There were no tricks to getting HDMI-CEC working for volume and power control - they both just worked. The sound is also extremely good for the kinds of things I expect a mid-level soundbar system to do. It has punchy, boomy bass that rolls off well before it gets distorted. The sound can be very directional despite lacking up-firing speakers - Sony is doing some impressive processing here. I was also very impressed with the "Voice" mode as well as the 2 channel Sound Field mode. Sony's processing does a good job of isolating the vocal frequencies without making the sound feel 'processed' - you don't really notice that the center channel dialogue is boosted. For the 2 channel mode, it automatically converts to all-channel stereo and uses the rear speakers. Controlling these modes through the app is very easy thanks to the simple bluetooth connection. Again - kudos to Sony for keeping this simple and effective. The TV where I've set the Bravia Theater System 6 up has an Xbox Series X connected and I was pretty pleased with the system for gaming. The tight bass helps a lot here, and the excellent audibility of the vocal range again works well with games that have a lot of dialogue. #Final thoughts# So who is Sony making the Bravia Theater System 6 for? I think this system is nearly perfect for an apartment or town home living room where you might occasionally want to be able to crank up the bass. Same could be said for a family with young kids sleeping not far from the living room - ultimately you want to be able to hear what is going on in your movies and TV without blowing the doors down every time. With Night mode and Voice mode, Sony gives you multiple options to accomplish this. And when you do have the opportunity to blast through a movie or game, the Bravia system won't let you down. If you need a system that can switch inputs for you to cover for a TV with limited HDMI ports, this probably isn't the system for you, though. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends or family looking for a simple system to move beyond TV speakers, though.

Installation and setup of this surround sound theater system was a breeze. Connect the sub-woofer to your TV (HDMI Arc port) with the supplied HDMI cable, then plug the sub-woofer into a power outlet, and power it on. Download the Bravia Connect app and follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup. It walks you through every step, including settings based on speaker distances from the viewing point. The rear speaker wires are a generous 16 feet each in length and the soundbar connecter cable is a little over 9 feet in length, enough to accommodate any reasonable configuration of the theater setup. However, the supplied HDMI cable is 6 feet, so if you wanted to use the full length of the soundbar cable you'd have to buy a 10-foot HDMI cable. The rear speakers are powered by a wireless amplifier that is positioned behind the viewing point and plugged into a wall outlet. The soundbar is plugged into and is powered by the sub-woofer. The rear speaker amp automatically connects to the system; I never experienced any connectivity issues or glitches. The whole setup is very clean and easy. There is also a template included for wall mounting. The system comes with a remote but I found that the app gives more control options. The app indicates whether the sound source is 5.1 channel, Dolby Atmos/DTS:X, or 2.1 channel. Rear speaker volume can be controlled independently with the app. The input source can be selected either through the app or the remote - TV, Bluetooth, or Audio In (a 3.5mm audio in jack is included on the sub-woofer). Surround sound can be turned on & off with either the remote or the app. System updates can be done through the app. To understand all the settings and sound options I recommend downloading the Bravia Theatre System 6 Help Guide found on the Sony product web site. The sound of this system is outstanding. I watched the first game of the Stanley Cup Finals, and this system puts you right there inside the stadium with the crowd. It was tremendous. The same with action movies - you feel the explosions and collisions, it's total immersion. All the sound coming out of this system is first class- booming, thundering bass, crystal clear highs and voice from the soundbar and crystal clear powerful rear speakers. The build quality of everything is excellent. This system is pricey, but you won't be disappointed if you invest in it. You'll be getting a high performing home theater system.

Hello friends and welcome to my review of the all new Sony Bravia theater system 6. First off, BB sent this unit out to me via FED-EX. Please BB stop using fedex, They are the worst delivery company. I was told for 2 days in a row that my package was out for delivery. Only to receive the unit 3 days later. This is an ongoing issue in all of north georgia where I live. Now that's out of the way, on to the sound bar. First off, this is not super wireless. It;s not bad there are no wires running across the floor or the room. However it is nessacery to plug in the two rear speakers into a remote amp. This is just a small black box that sits behind your seating position. And then up front there is a wire that goes from the TV to the sub. And from the sub to the sound bar. All wires are included in the box, each plug is different so you can't mix them up incorrectly. This is great for folks who are nervous about larger systems. Next I want to talk about the sound of the new Sony. I think Sony did a great job of setting this up to be simple for most people to plug and play. There is no long set up menu, or blue-tooth stuff. Just straight forward plug in get sound. The sound itself is fantastic compared to any TV speakers. If you are in the market for something like this, you have poor sound from your TV just like I did. If you have a small living room with low ceilings, you could probably just use the Sony Bravia sound bar only. I have high ceilings and this unit fits my room much better. This is due to the two Atmos speakers in this bar facing forward instead of up. If I use the up firing speaker then all the Atmos sound would just disappear into the ceiling. With this unit the sound is all coming straight forward into my ear holes. The sound fields that are in this unit to me, sound pretty much the same. One is a little brighter than the others but they all sound good to me. Like I say way better than the TV speakers I had been using. In conclusion, Sony also makes a theater system 7 and 8. Both are larger than this unit, however for me in a normal size living room. This unit works fine for me, And the surround speakers easily hide out of the way so my wife is happy. Would I recommend this unit to a friend/ Yes I would!

Ok, this soundbar with rear speakers is absolutely insane. Out of the box, I adjusted nothing. I plugged the subwoofer into the TV via HDMI (arc) port. Plugged the soundbar into the subwoofer. Plugged the subwoofer into the wall outlet and scanned a QR code. The app I installed on my Android phone was the Bravia app, also available for iPhones. Opening the app I went through the setup. Front speakers were ready in no time, actually worked as soon as the TV was on. Pairing the rear speakers took a couple tries. The rear speakers have a wireless hub they plug in to for power and audio. The hub is roughly the size of a good sized sandwich. After the pairing worked, by default, the Sound Field is enabled. So I immediately had sound from the rear speakers. If you turn Sound Field off, all sound comes from the subwoofer and soundbar. Placement of the rear speaker was a little difficult for me, we don't have a wall between the couch and kitchen, so I had to set the speakers on the counter. Wife was not impressed with that idea. So when I want surround, I move one speaker to the other side of the couch on the counter. Regardless, I need to find the 'All around you' audio from the movie theatres to try it out. So, what was my first movie to test the audio with. We had just recently seen the new Captain America movie, and I knew there was action early on. The first explosion shook the house. Wife thought it was storming. The kids came out to see what had happened. I immediately went into setting to find the audio adjustment to keep the sudden volume changes from happening so my family did not think WW III was happening. This was done in the app, there are a ton of setting you can adjust. I also lowered the bass a bit. I have two speakers behind my head at my favorite seat, the one with my butt print in the couch, and the sound down low enough from the front speakers that I can enjoy what I am watching without the entire house hearing it thanks to the rear speakers behind my head. Overall, I am more than happy with this sound system. It is fantastic. Much better than I anticipated. And the setup was insanely easy.

My Bravia X950G has been a great TV and has great sound even from the built in speakers, but with this Bravia Theater system its on a a whole new level! In the box you get the soundbar, subwoofer, two rear speakers, and everything else needed to get set up. Set up was fairly easy connecting everything to my Bravia X950G. Took about 15 minutes to get up and going. The sound from this set is phenomenal! I didnt expect such powerful sound from what might seem like smallish speakers. The bass is deep, accurate, and powerful. You can turn up the volume and get no distortion at all. The mids and voices are very clear and combined with the bar it blew me away just how crisp everything is. Surround is done extremely well here as well. Sounds seem to follow what is happening on screen and give you a great sense of immersion, almost like being there. Sony really knows how to get this right. I am more then happy with it “only” being 5.1. 7.1 is great and all, but for the room this is in Im not sure how that would work out. I have a ton of blurays I recently found that I had forgotten I had. I am really looking forward to rewatching them now with proper sound. Overall I couldnt be more happy with this system. It has made me fall in love with my Bravia TV again. If you are looking at getting a 5.1 soundbar system you should really give this one a shot. Whether you have a Bravia TV or not this will definitely raise your TV and music experience. Couldnt recommend more!

I've been utilizing my brand new Sony BRAVIA Theater System 6 for just over a month, and it has completely changed the way I view movies and listen to music. The system features a 5.1 channel surround setup (10 total speakers with subwoofer, and rear speakers) that brings true immersion and presence, and it fills the room up easily. I'm most impressed by the center channel speaker, which makes hearing dialogue in shows and movies so much more appealing. Given that many shows and movies are dialogue-heavy, enjoying TV shows and movies on my BRAVIA is mesmerizing! One of my favorite features of the BRAVIA Theater System 6 is the ability to support Dolby Atmos® and DTS:X® for true cinematic sound. One of the more ample advantages of Atmos and DTS:X is that explosions and sounds become louder in action films and that ambient background detail becomes more present in dramatic settings. I also appreciate the generous Multi Stereo option; Very helpful when I have guests over. The Multi Stereo option takes sound through all the speakers in the system, concerto style. I connected the system to my Sony BRAVIA TV. Immediately, I noticed integrated features such as being able to view sound settings in the quick menu, and having access to everything through a single remote. The BRAVIA Connect app feature also further enhances the way I can adjust and view settings while managing elements on my phone. As far as Bluetooth streaming, there were no issues connecting my phone and streaming music. I also found the DSEE feature (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) very helpful in upconverting compressed audio files. In total, the BRAVIA Theater System 6 has everything you need from sound performance to simple setup and control. This system is great for anyone wanting to upgrade their current entertainment setup at home. Highly recommended!

When I opted to get a new home theatre system, I was hoping for and knew I was in for something special when the Sony Bravia 6 Home Theatre System box landed at my front door. The sheer weight of it told me everything I needed to know, this thing was built solid. I’ve always believed that a little heft in home electronics usually means quality components inside, and Sony definitely did not disappoint here. Unboxing the system felt like peeling open a premium audio experience. Inside the package was a massive subwoofer that looks and feels like it means business. There are two sleek rear satellite speakers, which connect to a plug-in wireless amplifier. And the final piece was a clean, minimalist soundbar that’s low profile but high class in design. The setup process was smooth and straightforward, thanks to the Sony BRAVIA connect app. The app walks you through step by step, including optimizing your surround sound field so you’re getting the best audio experience based on your room’s acoustics. But one setup feature that really stood out for me, the single-cable connection from the soundbar to the subwoofer. That one cable provides power and signal, eliminating the clutter of having to run a separate HDMI or optical cable and a power cord to the soundbar. This made my entire setup look super clean, like something out of a tech magazine. Now, fair warning, this design means the subwoofer needs to be near the soundbar or at least near a power source, which could limit placement flexibility for some. Once I fired this thing up, the sound production was immediately impressive. The full spectrum of audio is here, deep lows, crisp highs, and clean, balanced mids that make dialogue pop even during action scenes. To test the surround capabilities, I ran a few YouTube 5.1 audio tests and my jaw nearly hit the floor. The DTS and Atmos 5.1 immersion is real. The rear speakers throw just enough directional audio to create that wraparound experience, and the sub hits with authority, deep, thumping bass that doesn’t feel too boomy or muddy. I couldn’t wait for movie night with the fam. We dove into an action-packed thriller followed by a few episodes of a favorite drama series, and it felt like we were at the theater. The sound field is wide, immersive, and well-tuned to adapt to whatever content we threw at it. If you’re looking for a new home theatre system with a true theater feel without the mess of wires and complexity, and you want something that still brings that cinematic punch, this system lives up to the Sony Bravia legacy. The price may be a little steep, but this system hits that perfect sweet spot between aesthetics and performance. It’s got a clean, minimalist setup, a smart layout with that single-cable soundbar design, and delivers big-room sound in a package that doesn’t take over your living room.

This system packs a serious punch. Setup took a normal amount of time and he pretty much dependent on where you want to place the speakers. The subwoofer is pretty much a beast. Its bigger than I expected and has a good bit of weight to it. After hooking it up and hearing the bass, it is understandable as to why. The sound bar itself while sleek has poweful and very crisp and clear sound. The subwoofer and sound bar connect together so be sure to account for cable length. Wish the HDMI cable that comes with it was longer. Since my TV was wall mounted, I had to order a 15 foot cable to make it all work. The rear satellite speakers connect to a module and the module then plugs into a standard wall outlet. These speakers provide excellent surround sound that takes movies and sports broadcasting to a new level. You can mount the soud bar to the wall also if you wish. The rear speakers can be mounted, placed on a flat surface or you can utilize speaker stands which are not included. The 5.1 channel performs as you would expect. Very clear and concise sound. Dolby Atmos is also supported. The rear speakers provide a decent amount of slack so you can run the speakers as you see fit. This is ideal for a medium to large living space. I am impressed with this sound system. I have it connected to a new 77 inch Bravia 8 4K TV. Installing the speaker system again is straightforward and you also need to install the app. Overall I am very pleased and would highly recommended this system!

This theater system by Sony is an absolute beast! Getting set up and running was pretty straightforward, especially with the app. It walked me through every step, and I got it up and running in no time. Additionally, the rear speakers do not need to be wired to the front speakers, so there's no annoying wiring installation that needs to happen. It's really user-friendly in my opinion and 100% the way to go. The sound quality is insane. It's truly immersive and extremely satisfying. I always feel like the sound mixing for movies is horrible because the dialogue is usually hard to hear while the music and sound effects are crystal clear. That issue is remedied with the sound bar that is specifically meant for dialogue. It's so lovely and has saved me so many ear aches by not needing to turn the volume up significantly to hear dialogue. The back speakers and the subwoofer really put in the work to make it feel like you're in a theater. I can not express to you how satisfying it is to just sit down and get lost in a film with this new sound system. The only frustrating issue I have with this system is that you need a compatible Bravia TV to get the most out of the system using Voice Zoom 3. However, it's not something that's keeping me from enjoying it, just something to keep in mind if you don't have a compatible Bravia TV. Other than that, I absolutely love it. Def recommend!

I would recommend this to a friend
