First of all it goes through batteries quickly. Yes I get that spinning a cd takes more energy but we used it mainly as a radio and maybe got 8 hours out of 6 c batteries. There is nothing "boom" about this radio, if you want to supply even a small outdoor space pick another. There are cheaper units but we thought paying a bit more and it being a Sony product... how could you go wrong. Disappointing

I am giving it three stars cause I wish the volume was louder. A little distoration when volume gets turned up. If your looking for a radio to put in a room for casual listening at low to medium volume then get this product. It's perfect for that.

After about 6 months it began to skip and stop in the middle of a CD. With a Q-Tip I was able to reach down to the rod which the laser rides on and oil it and it worked another few months then did same so I trashed them.
