This Sony boombox does sound very good for its price. Compared to the excellent, discontinued Sony XPlod boombox ($250 - $400), this model has less deep bass and slightly harsher upper midrange. But if you put it on the floor, by a wall or in a corner, and listen off-axis, it has more bass and smoother highs (which is true of any speaker). All the functions worked fine. The 1-star reviewers who say "Piece of junk - save your money" clearly have received a lemon. Most of these boomboxes are perfectly okay. This model played loud and clear, had good FM reception, and was very portable. Great job, Sony. I would recommend this to a friend

We wanted it so we could use it with batteries if we lost electric power. We could not get a radio station to come in clearly. There was too much static.

Can play my old CDs and radio and blue tooth music and podcasts from my phone. And it’s smaller, easier to carry from room to room.
