Awkward "on" before "select a pre-set station"

Has three buttons on top to pre-set a given radio station, but one must also push the overall "on" button and only then select one of the three pre-set stations. I found this a bit awkward. I would like for it to immediately begin playing the last station I selected.

This is a problem for me because I listen to "books on tape" whenever I am traveling in my vehicle. To remedy the problem I went to Best Buy and purchased a 120 volt in home CD PLAYER, the 2019, truck I purchased has a 120 volt common household electric receptor right on the dash, could not have been easier, works great and we listened to five books on our trip.
