Added lots of bass to my system at a great price. And has both line/in and Sub/out connections. It sounds boomy but you can adjust the level and cross-over to compensate for it. Good buy.

If you want base, get it if you like loud noise, get it if you’ve been in the theater in your house and get it if you like quiet base get it feel like loud base and get it just get it

The sound is pretty decent for this price range. It feels sturdy and much better than my previous subwoofer. I've owned several sony subwoofers in the past, although this replaced another brand that failed in 2 years. I am impressed with the subtle improvements with this model over the old sony subwoofers I had. The controls are similar, with a normal/reverse switch, volume, cutoff frequency, and power button. There's also an auto power save feature. My only complaint is that the power save is too aggressive. It will turn off quickly with no audio and there's a delay before it kicks back on. I think sony should consider making the power save delay a bit longer on future designs. Be sure to set the normal/reverse button correctly for your receiver. My Yamaha receiver has a menu setting for normal or reverse also, so just make sure they match. It shipped in reverse by default.

I’ve been an audiophile for years and I was seriously surprised at the quality and quantity of bass this guy produces. I have it paired with a 10” powered Onkyo subwoofer, and attached to an Onkyo 7.2 receiver with Dolby Atmos. Very Happy!

These subs (I have two connected to a Denon 7.2 ch. X2400H AVR) are perfect for my needs. That is, accurate LFE reproduction for movies, and a nice low end lift for music and general content. They compliment 7 full range matched speakers nicely. I would think they would be super additional bass for someone with more limited range mains. I haven't used the line level inputs, yet, but they're a nice feature should I want to use them on a 2 channel amp someday. What they're not at all good for is creating unnatural and distorted wall shaking bass effects. But they sound just fine to my tastes for home theatre or general audio, long as the setup is right. I looked at and almost bought far more expensive subs, but settled on these. I have no complaints so far. The only other subs in this range with any real quality didn't quite match the specs of these. Even a few of the more expensive subs weren't much better... just higher wattage and, likely, a bit better built. Rather refreshing, as I've never really thought much of Sony speakers generally; great TVs, but not my favorite audio stuff. Of course, specs and name are meaningless if it doesn't sound good to your taste. Best advice: listen, if you can, before buying.

The sub provides good, but not exceptionally powerful bass, that blends exceptionally well with the Sony core speakers to include both the towers and bookshelf speakers. It has a clean, modern design and is not over powering in size/weight. However, again if you want loud/thumbing bass you will probably find this sub insufficient.

Subwoofer sounds excellent! Caught this on sale for $100. Connected the subwoofer directly to my Sony A8G via the TV’s 3.5 mm audio output jack. The TV’s acoustic surface already sounds decent for the size of the room the TV and this subwoofer adds that thump missing!

I tried going without a woofer for my home theater system but decided to add one and g,ad I did. I didn’t trust the reviews of this one as it was very inexpensive, however I am completely impressed by its performance , reliability, ease of hook up and of course its sound. This adds all the bass I need and then some.

Sony has been making great products for your every day Audiophile for over 50 years. This active subwoofer is no exception to the sound quality they've been delivering to people who want clear, and loud, bass added to their home theater systems. I connected one to my Yamaha YAS 108 or 1080 sound bar. Most sound bars do not have a subwoofer out cable port. But the Yamaha sound bars are designed with more innovation than your average and very affordable models. The Sony Core 10" 115W delivers crisp and powerful bass with clear tones and does not get muddy when you want to really crank the volume up for Movie Night! It also comes with a normal and reverse Phaser in order to balance the sound coming from your set up. Whether it's a receiver with dedicated speakers or the config I'm using. The only drawback I've encountered is you need to be careful when moving it around. Sometimes the amplifier starts to loop. Causing a slight thumping sound and reduced sound. However this can be easily resolved by turning of your cable box and TV. Wait a moment, then reboot everything. It doesn't fix the problem immediately, but the problem goes away shortly after. This may be a problem specific to the one I purchased, and I'm calling SONY to either get it fixed or replaced. But in the end it's not a huge setback for the product and I would still recommend this item to anyone looking for an Active or Powered Sub.

If you need a sub this is a great one for the value. I really love the difference it does to my home theater set up. Sony always makes great products.

If you can get this item on sale, it is a great value (I paid $100). At full price I would look for something a little nicer/higher powered. I have it hooked up to a Pioneer receiver and it literally shakes the house while watching movies. My son said it sounds like we are watching the movie at a theater.

Clean and crisp is not what is usually used to describe a sub, but this speaker is outstanding for both its size and price. Fills A small to medium room nicely. Strong on the bottom with excellent musicality. You will not be disappointed!

I bought a Onkyo 7.2 to replace my worn out JVC. I was running it on the 5.1 system. I wasn't feeling the bass i wanted. I researched some subs and wanted at least a 10-inch sub. I ran across this Sony. Plugged it up and WOW! What a difference the bass made. I was feeing that just one wasn't doing the trick and needed a twin. So I went and bought another Sony. WOW ! They Rock everything in the house !! Thank You !!!

Added just the right amount of low end for Xbox. TV sounds good also.

This sub is awesome. Great sound, looks great in my family room. Easy setup right out of the box. Highly recommend this sub. I just actually purchased another one.

Let me start off by saying this sub sounds incredible for its price point. It hits very hard and has incredible mid range. I was very impressed at first.... then came the problems. I noticed it switched on and off quite frequently during normal tv watching, and it has an audible click when it turns on and turns off. I thought well that’s no biggie, the click is sort of annoying but I’ll get used to it... then I watched my first movie and that’s where it all went down hill. The time out on auto is like 5 minutes or less, then when something happens in the movie, you hear it click then the bass kicks in super delayed. Most subs have a 15-20 minute time out. This one was definitely less than 5 mins. Therefore I returned it and got the klipsch 12 and was very happy. I own all other sony core speakers though and they are incredible. The sub has been the only flawed one.

Sounds good for a little box. Puts out a surprising thump for a 10" sub. It is small enough to fit under my desk and still give me room to sit.

Standard 10" Sub. I keep mine on 50% sound capacity - it can get loud and rattle windows if I put it up full volume! Placed mine in a perforated cabinet in a 5.1 setup with the receiver and it was plug and play - works great.
