Decent subwoofer

However, I wanted to check that box and I bought this. Works well except I need to figure out how to calibrate the auto on feature because it doesn’t always cycle on, when I want it on and have the other speakers working.

However, at loud volumes the bass does not stay crisp and clean. It can actually get rather distorted at loud volumes, which is a turnoff. I got this for $100 and don't think it is worth any more than that.

Regarding heating issue or the unit gets a little hot, normal operation should have the subwoofer feel warm but not hot. A faint odor is normal for a little while but not long-term. It is a 6 Ohm speaker so remember to get the right speaker wire gauge and set receiver to 6 Ohms if necessary, and to update your receiver that you have a subwoofer.
