Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great quality subwoofer, I was deciding between this and the Polk PSW108. I got lucky and was able to look and hear both of them at my local Bestbuy before I purchased. The main reasons I went with this unit over the Polk are below: 1. The Sony is smaller than the Polk, so it takes up less space in my living room. I also think it looks a little better. 2. The Sony has better specs on paper, 28-200hz, vs 35-200hz for the Polk. In theory, the bass should get 7hz lower on the Sony. 3. The quality of the materials is better on the Sony, the plastic and housing is much better made. 4. The actual subwoofer driver is made of a higher quality rubber on the Sony instead of foam on the Polk, it feels better quality and I would image it lasting longer and taking a heavier beating over time. 5. The Sony has 115w and the Polk has 100w. So the Sony is slightly more powerful. 6. The same Polk has been on the market for at least 8 years, most likely using the same technology from 8 years ago. This Sony is a fairly new offering, I have to believe technology has come a long way in 8 years and the Sony probably is more up to date. I have been very happy with my purchase so far, our living room is average size, maybe 300sqft. The subwoofer fills the room with bass very well.

Posted .Hi JonathanW, Thank you for the feedback on your experience with your SACS9. We're glad it fits perfectly in your room. To ensure optimal bass response, please follow these steps:
-Check that this subwoofer and
components are connected correctly
and securely.
-Turn LEVEL clockwise to turn the
volume up.
-Reset the level.
-Set the CUT OFF FREQ as high as
possible when playing back the Dolby
digital.

is it working?

It will also turn off by itself at times.

This unit comes with an Auto power ON/OFF function (POWER SAVE switch) which will automatically if it is set to ON turn off the unit when it doesn't detect an input signal after a few minutes of usage and it will also turn it back on when it detects a signal as well. If you would like to keep the unit active all the time instead turn the switch to the OFF position instead.
