    Crapped out in about 1yr 5 months.

    Crapped out today. I noticed there was no bass. Tried different settings on the receiver, different audio and video inputs; movies, music etc. Nothing I ran the auto calibration and it is not detected. Cable is fine and it's receiving power

      Hi Thaddeusreview, we're sorry to hear that you have an issue with your SONY unit. To obtain a better bass reproduction, we recommend you to install the subwoofer on a solid floor where the resonance is unlikely to occur. You can obtain a sufficient heavy bass reproduction from a single subwoofer. However if you use a couple of the subwoofers, you can obtain an even more effective heavy bass reproduction. Turn the LEVEL control so that you can hear the bass sound a little more than before. To increase the volume, turn the control clockwise. Please check this link for more details:

    Bad manufacturing

    I went through two of these before purchasing a different brand. I purchased a Sony core subwoofer to go with the rest of my 7.2 sony set. Gain at 50% volume on the receiver at three quarters using a aux line connection. Voice coil in both units burnt out imediately filing the whole room with burnt electronic smell. Was not willing to try it a third time. The subwoofer was also the recommended subwoofer for the receiver.

    For whatever reason the model we purchased was pathetic in its base output. I returned it the very next day.

      We are really sorry if the bass sound of our SA-CS9 115W 10” Active Subwoofer didn't live up to your expectations, and that it had to be returned. This is certainly not the experience we want you to have. For bass sound quality, depending on the audio source, the bass sound of our SA-CS9 may not be so noticeable. However, some of these issues can be fixed by adjusting the LEVEL control (clockwise) to turn the volume up of the subwoofer so that you can hear the bass sound a little more than before. You may also find different sources will perform better than others due to different types of audio compression and transmission.

      We value you and we are hoping you will consider Sony again in your future purchase.

    i bought an "open box" so excited when it was delivered, the dam thing wouldnt even turn on...i thought they would fix what ever it was that was wrong with it when someone returned it, but i guess not. i went to wally world and found a 12" klipsh for less money

    Do NOT consider buying this. Horrible Sound Quality. You are supposed to FEEL a subwoofer and not HEAR one... This went back to the store after one day of trying it out. Soon after, bought a JBL Subwoofer and have been VERY happy with it....

It is recommended to move the subwoofer away from the center of a room or eliminate the cause of the standing wave, by installing a bookshelf on the wall, etc as the bass could be extremely weakened. It is also advisable to turn the LEVEL control so that you can hear the bass sound a little more than before.

    Sent first one back because it didnt work right and the one i got back has a slight buzz and lacks sharpness. OMG dont buy this thing you will regret it. Im not even an audiophile and i can tell this thing is junk. My old home theatre in a box was better ugh

    Needed a sub-woofer for system. Purchased this for 10% off because the product box had been opened. The only thing in the box was the sub-woofer with no cords for connections. Speaker cover falls off and the sub-woofer produces poor sound quality. Regret purchasing the product.

    I have been listening extensively to this Sony SACS9 subwoofer with only a budget Vizio soundbar and an old Vizio plasma screen set for several weeks, pending my purchase of additional speakers to complete my planned 5.1 setup. Yeah, I know. However, even with this temporary and extremely minimalist setup, the Sony has been absolutely stunning with music and movies. This is not coming from a newbie with a bad ear who has never heard great audio. This sub performs way beyond what even the optimum Best Buy set up can allow you to appreciate. With some time to optimize its position in my media room and its settings, it simply delivers with thunderous authority or with delicate subtlety and every good thing in between whatever it should from every music or movie sources I send to it. I am just stunned by and very happy with the very deep, clean, and responsive performance it delivers. The specs say down to 28 Hz and it is every bit of that without boominess or notey resonances or chuffing. At no time do I ever think I am missing any lower bass. It puts out the kind of clean and powerful low bass/LFE that is fully satisfying in my 15 x 18 x 8 (ceiling) media room. I can turn the gain down for just a hint of Hollywood mayhem and destruction or the thundering symphony, or can crank it up to hear and feel as though it has just put them in the middle of the room. I do not like listening much above 90 dB's, but this sub can easily jog along with my Vizio soundbar to very clear and undistorted hearing-damage levels I believe are above 100 dB's. This sub is a real deal at regular price, and even better on sale. You will be very happy with this high quality, home run sub by Sony.

    Way underpowered and port was raspy. Got a 400w Klipsch when they dropped the price to 229$ or whatever it was. Down from 375$ I love Sony subs, this was just junk.
